William Parker took test photos during a location scout to capture the "blur" theme for an album cover. Several locations were considered but did not work due to too much surrounding light, closed access, or unappealing backgrounds. While the slow shutter speed achieved the blurred effect, the photos did not clearly showcase the artist or follow the theme consistently across shots.
2. The theme of my album cover was
“blur” by using a slow shutter
speed I created the effect of
blured backgrounds with a focus
point. However this beach had too
many lights surrounding it so
there for there was too much light
being exposed.
3. This location had changing
coloured LED lights against a
white wall with horizontal
lights. This created an edgy
looking back drop, however
on the night I went to do my
shoot the gardens leading to
the beach were shut so I was
unable to use this location.
However I decided this would
be a worth while location to
shoot with so returned and
completed another shoot.

6. I tried to use a sparkler in the sand to
create a more warming feel to the
shoot. However I didn’t like way the
sand looked with the stones and the
colour shade in contrast to the flame.
12. I really like the lay-out of this
photo, however there was too
much light which did not allow
the same effect to be succeeded
and follow the theme of the
others.

14. Whilst I was completing my recce I decided to do a trial shoot to see if the slow
shutter speed effect would be effective and aesthetically pleasing as an album
cover. These are my photos un-edited.

16. I tried to use a sparkler to
create a circle around the
model however the back
ground and the face was to
blurred, despite this
corresponding with my album
theme I decided it did not focus
on the artist enough.
