2. The background here is simply a white colour with a pattern overlay, which is then darkened with a
black colour layer at 50% opacity and a white Gradient Map with an opacity of 3% to lighten it up
slightly. I then put the rendered band members into a suitable place.
3. Here I added the
lines which
separated the band
members from the
masthead and
banner at the
bottom. I also placed
in a box which
summarised what
was in the issue.
4. Here I added the
barcode (which is
a series of lines),
the subscription
box and 3D
magazine covers
(bevelled). I also
added the box
containing ‘Rock
News from all
over the World’.
5. This is the start of my contents page. I started off much like the front cover but this time I left out the black layer
as to lighten it up as it is an inside page. I typed in the ‘Contents’ logo with a font called ‘Phantom Lord Lite’
which I found online. I also placed in the band and also the contents and the page numbers.
6. I placed in the band members again but smaller this time as well as the editor’s note. The next ones are the start of the
first page of the DPS. I did these in Photoshop as I find it easier to use than InDesign. I used the same background as the
contents and placed one band member there as well as a white box behind him with reduced opacity.
7. I placed in the text as carefully as I could so I didn’t go over the band member, however in this case it looks really
shaky and none of the lines really look like they’ve just been type in. I repeated all of this for the second page with
a different band member and in the opposite direction to make it look like two pages together.
8. This is the second
page of the DPS.
As with before I
think that the text
looks too shaky
and should be
fixed – it looks too
spaced out.
