› The following are a few considerations to keep in mind while using, presenting and
handling business cards:
1. Always keep your business cards handy
2. Keep hierarchical order in mind
3. Time of presentation of business card
4. Follow business card with your offerings
5. Show good manners while receiving business cards
Always Keep Your
Business Cards
Handy
Never ever be without your business
cards
Put a stack of cards;
1. In your office desk
2. At home
3. In your car
4. In your wallet
Keep hierarchical order in mind
Never present your business card to senior level executives when
you meet them, unless and until they’ve asked for one.
Time of presentation of business card
Give your business card to the other person when he can take a moment to
give it a look and can give it his full attention.
Never present your business card in the middle of a discussion as it can
cause an unnecessary interruption.
Follow business card with your offerings
Always follow the presentation of your business card with a detailed explanation of your services,
offerings and what you can offer them.
Give a short and brief explanation of a probable ‘action recommendation’ when you present your card to
the other person.
This will increase the chance of the other person contacting you again.
For Example:
You could say something like: “I think I can help with your Training concerns, Mr. Houston. Here is my
card.”
Another thing that you could do is ask for referrals and encourage the other person to share your contact
details with anyone they know who can use your services or products.
Show good manners while receiving business
cards
It is very important that whenever you receive a card from someone you show the
other person that you value his card.
When you receive a business card;
1. Make sure you take time to look at the business card for a few seconds.
2. Make sure that you pass a good comment about the card, such as its font, design, color,
layout etc.
3. Make sure that you very clearly let the other person see that you are storing their card
carefully, instead of just pushing it in your pocket.

  • 5. Always Keep Your Business Cards Handy Never ever be without your business cards Put a stack of cards; 1. In your office desk 2. At home 3. In your car 4. In your wallet
  • 6. Keep hierarchical order in mind Never present your business card to senior level executives when you meet them, unless and until they’ve asked for one.
  • 7. Time of presentation of business card Give your business card to the other person when he can take a moment to give it a look and can give it his full attention. Never present your business card in the middle of a discussion as it can cause an unnecessary interruption.
  • 8. Follow business card with your offerings Always follow the presentation of your business card with a detailed explanation of your services, offerings and what you can offer them. Give a short and brief explanation of a probable ‘action recommendation’ when you present your card to the other person. This will increase the chance of the other person contacting you again. For Example: You could say something like: “I think I can help with your Training concerns, Mr. Houston. Here is my card.” Another thing that you could do is ask for referrals and encourage the other person to share your contact details with anyone they know who can use your services or products.
  • 9. Show good manners while receiving business cards It is very important that whenever you receive a card from someone you show the other person that you value his card. When you receive a business card; 1. Make sure you take time to look at the business card for a few seconds. 2. Make sure that you pass a good comment about the card, such as its font, design, color, layout etc. 3. Make sure that you very clearly let the other person see that you are storing their card carefully, instead of just pushing it in your pocket.
