Dear Parents,
Our “integrity” word of the month is Contentment. Our Bible verse is:
“I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well
fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or want. I can do everything through Him
who gives me strength. Philippians 4:12b-13
What a blessing it is that we can teach our children what it means to LOVE and be
loved as God wished-for it to be. It can be so tough to teach Love for others in a society
that is so “me” oriented. My dad used to always say “you don’t have to like ‘em, but you
have to love ‘em”. It was hard to understand that as a child but I believe it is an
important lesson to learn. What a blessing it us for us to be able to teach and more
importantly show love to our students. We thank you so much for lending them to us so
that we can have that joy daily.
RED/PINK/PURPLE DAY FEBRUARY 13th and 14th
As we get closer to celebrating Valentine’s Day we will discuss love and friendship
and take comfort in the love God showers over us each day. What a joy it is for our
teaching staff to be able to share this love with each of your children. God has
commanded that we “love our neighbors”, as we enter the church Lenten Season
(Wednesday, March 5th) we will focus on the cross and how through the act of Jesus’
death on the cross we see the ultimate gift of love displayed.
VALENTINE EXCHANGE

For Valentines/Red Day we ask the children to bring in one valentine/candy for each
child in their class. The T-TH class has 17 students and the MWF has 10 students. We
are asking that the children print their own name (4K only) on each Valentine card. In
the T-TH class please do not put their classmate’s names on the card. In 4K if they
would really like to add his/her friend’s names it is okay (in 4K parents can write their
friends names if you would like to do it for them). We encourage it and most of them
can read their classmates names and will enjoy finding their friends valentine’s bag. If
your child has difficulty printing their own name, you may help. Please bring their
cards on the day of the exchange. Any questions you may have please feel free to ask
us.

On T-TH (17 Friends). Please write your child’s name on each
card.
UNITS
We have introduced all of the practical life material and most of the sensorial
materials, which included various color activities and number games. We will continue
working on shapes as we continue to introduce various math activities and specific prereading skills, such as sequencing and rhyming. These types of games will be added to
our shelf units daily. Feel free to ask your child (4K) what items they have been learning
about each day.
REGISTRATION
Registration for 2014-2015 is currently underway. If you wish to reserve a place for
your child in the MWF 4/5K (8:30-11:30) program for next year, please ask your child’s
teacher about Enrollment Packages. If you have neighbors and friends who are looking
for a school for their child we ask that you would have them call us at 468-3596 so that
we can meet them and share our programs with them. We appreciate your sharing about
OSLC Preschool. We are hoping to fill all our programs next year and we need your
help. If you would like to pick up a Pre-K informational pamphlet to pass out we would
be glad to get that to you. We know that you have a tough choice to make about your
child’s preschool experience. We pray that you consider continuing to partner with us for
one more year as we work with you to continue to shape your child’s character
development. We hope that you take the time to visit the school your child may enroll in
and make sure it is a fit for your family and your child’s physical, emotional & spiritual
needs. Remember we have a FULL DAY program available for your child with before
and after school available next year. If you are interested in before school care and after
school care please let us know. We will be offering extended care to Trinity students as
well.

Obeying School Rules
Let your children know it’s
important to follow the rules at
school. Example: if your child
complains that they aren’t allowed
to run in school, say, “The teacher’s
right, they need to create a safe
environment and they don’t want
you to be hurt.

To encourage your child to brush

teeth,

teeth or their doll’s teeth before you
help them brush their own. Or sing
a silly made-up song using a familiar
tune while they brush.

can show your child how to use humor to
improve a bad day.
Imagine that you’ve just burned the meal you
spent all day preparing. Rather than letting it
become a disaster that ruins everyone’s day, try
turning it into a hilarious family memory.
“This turkey’s getting a big laugh today. He’s
thinking, ‘Ha! They should’ve had a ham.’”
Then, ask everyone what they want on their
pizza.
If your child learns to see the humor in a
difficult situation, they will be better prepared
to cope with stress as they grow.
