2. camera
When filming our video we used a Canon SX50 HS to film but we found that the quality of the
camera was not very good. This is because we needed to use a camera with a HD video setting.
So keeping up with technology we used a member of our group’s latest iPhone with a clearer
image and steady cam when recording. This was very successful and our footage came out
clean and looked very professional. This also suited the genre as an independent artist would
not be able to afford a big expensive camera to film their video on and many are filmed on
smartphones as they have updated the technology in order to be able to do this. The camera
on the Iphone is incredibly easy to use and gave us HD results. The Downfalls of using this
camera however was the fact that we were unable to pull focus on our video and we were
limited to what elements we could do. It was very important that our camera shots stayed
steady throughout so the fact that the iPhone 7 plus has steadying technology within it meant
that our footage could look very professional which would help us reach our target audience.
Many of our shots are also filmed on the move in London and this was very tricky to stay
completely still with the movement around us and the busy city life, so the fact that this was
featured in the camera technology was very useful In helping us create a smooth overall finish.
The Canon SX50 HS did not have this technology meaning that if we had continued to use it
the footage outcome would’ve been shaky and unsteady. We also used a tripod to help keep
some of our shots at the same level when panning and tilting up and down a clear example of
this is when we used Smoke flares in the woods.
3. Editing
In the editing stage of our music promo we used iMovie to import our clips and create a rough
edit. We then put the music with the clips and sent it to our teachers for a rough guide line on
where we need to improve. The feedback we received was positive other than we needed to
change what software we chose to edit on. we downloaded our work onto Adobe Premier Pro
which we used and allowed for us to add professional looing effects and made the editing
process a faster one. We switched between using the two softwares as we felt that using
iMovie was easier and less time consuming as we were familiar with the editing software
however it did not give us what we needed in order to achieve a high grade which we desired.
Editing on premier pro was more exact when it came to cutting things and it looked more
professional. Uploading our work onto the mac was easy and simple as they are both Apple
products it just took a lightening cable in order to do it and if this was unsuccessful there was
always the element of airdropping.
When editing we found that some of our clips did not match with the lyrics when we were
trying to lip-sync this meant we needed to refilm some shots due to this not working. This held
up our editing process for example the shots at the bridge of the song when it is of our
characters lips was all out of time and each shot was at a different angle this meant that our
video did not look professional.
4. Evaluation
For the evaluation of my work, I have used iMove on my iPhone to recorded
reactions of my audience watching the music video to help answer question 3
on audience feedback. I uploaded this to YouTube and then embedded it onto
my blog.
I also used slide share for my evaluation as blogger does not allow for you to
upload straight from Powerpoint this meant that I could use different
technologies such as Slideshare and Emaze to show presentations.
I also used Prezi, this is a software that I am already familiar with from AS and I
find the site very easy to use. I used Prezi as a way to present my ideas in my
evaluation rather than a essay this allows for it to be more visually pleasing for
my audience and they will be more interested into reading my work.
