I am seeking a part-time position in customer service. I have extensive experience in
customer service while in the hotel and food & beverage industry. I also have a large store of
general knowledge due to my education and background.
My background has taught me to balance the needs of the business with the desires of the
customer. I often worked the midnight shift which required me to be self-reliant because there
was usually no manager or other employee to back me up. I’ve learned the necessity to learn as
many aspects of the business as possible. Over the years it has become obvious that you cannot
sit back and say I only do a single job. In customer service you have to be flexible because the
customer doesn’t want excuses, they want the job done.
My most important personality trait is reliability. I am where I’m supposed to be, when I’m
supposed to be there and I get the assigned jobs done. I start by building a base of knowledge in
what I’m hired to do and then I begin learning new skills as I work. This allows the manager to
rely on me for more and more.
Sincerely
Michael R. Okey
