  2. Andrespråkstilegnelse / flerspråklighet Jeg testet en normal førsteklasse på en god skole, og det var ingen målbar fremgang i løpet av ett år med engelsk. Samtidig fikk jeg en annen klasse på en annen skole til å øke eksponeringen litt, uten å gjøre endringer i læreplanen. Jeg fikk dem til å snakke engelsk i engelsktimene, og det er det faktisk ikke mange som gjør. I tillegg snakket de litt engelsk utenom engelsktimene, for eksempel i lyttekroken om morgenen, forteller Dahl. – Barna ble bedre på ordinnlæring, og de ble spesielt flinke til å oppfatte ord de hadde lært når de hørte noen snakke engelsk og få mening ut av hele setninger. Med forholdsvis liten innsats fikk man altså svært gode resultater i klasserommet.
