Preparation Outline for Commemorative/Informative/Persuasive Speech Name: Shi Yanjie Tutorial
Grp W10 Date: 01 April 2016 Title: Let's burn some calories...without exercising! Topic chosen:
Promote a standing–up culture for work. Specific purpose: I want to persuade my audience to utilize
stand–up workstations. Central Idea: The fast pace and stressfulness of life in Singapore often
results in a sedentary lifestyle despite us knowing the negative effects, instead of forcing ourselves
to adopt an exercise routine, we can utilize a simple lifestyle hack of a standing workstation to
drastically improve our physical health.

Standing, on the other hand, allows for optimal blood flow to all systems of the body, this means
there will be increased oxygen and nutrient uptake to all areas of the body, including the brain,
which reduces the feeling of lethargy. Connective: Transition Standing while working also
benefits in terms of health and longevity. IV.Standing while working is an effective way to reduce
risk of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, both commonly caused by prolonged sitting.
i.According to James Levine, an endocrinologist at the Mayo Clinic, standing while working will
maintain the body's effectiveness in regulating levels of glucose in the bloodstream, which may
often be compromised by prolonged sitting as part of a medical condition known as metabolic
syndrome which dramatically increases the chance of type 2 diabetes. ii. In the case of
cardiovascular diseases, according to the same research, adults who spend 4 or more hours per
day sitting is 34% more likely to develop cardiovascular diseases such as chest pains and heart
failures than those who stand for at least 2 hours. Connective: Signpost To enjoy all these benefits
all you have to do is start standing up to work. V.To reap the above benefits, you do not need to stand

I am writing an informative essay for my English 111 course. My medium for this project will be
a formal academic manuscript. I will be writing to Professor Helfrich and my classmates. I will be
writing this argument essay to an audience of people who support and want to solve the issue to
stop mistreating animals that are consumed. Also, this essay could benefit people who are not
aware of this issue or have an opposing view. Throughout this essay I will be making my audience
aware of why industrial production of food is being done in an unethical manner and the the health
problems and risks that are arising. There are many reasons that this argument is a concern. These
reasons include overlooked production practices, high and fast demand...show more content...
They are as easy as enforcing better laws and regulations. "Livestock production relies heavily on
antimicrobials, hormones, and a variety of other pharmaceuticals. A number of concerns have
been raised about these developments, including the presence of drug residues in meat and the
impact of these production techniques on animal welfare" (Schneider). Today many people are
confused as to why there are not a lot stricter and enforced rules being taken into play when it
comes to our health and the environment. Even though there are many rules and regulation put
into place by the FDA it is a possibility that there are so many underlying rules and regulations put
into place and it is hard for these companies to keep up with them. There needs to be a strict and a
laid out set of rules that are easy to follow and that are not being changed and modified daily.
These laws and regulations are more likely to be changed if more attention was brought to this
issue. Attention could be brought to the public by more media such as social media, television,
newspapers, etc. By bringing attention to this matter people will want to become more educated
about the topic and what they can do to help prevent this type of behavior. "Each year an estimated
5,000 Americans die and another 77 million get sick from disease producing agents in the food they
eat" (Sifry). These numbers show how undereducated people are about the risks buying

Professor Stennett
SPC 2608 B02
17 July 2017 Informative Speech
Title: Effects of Smoking
Speaker: Kevon Jones, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University student
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience to avoid smoking
Thesis Statement: Smoking has many dangerous effects on a smoker 's health and the health of
those around them; it harms every organ in the body and leads to premature death.
Introduction
I.Attention getter: According to Tobacco–Free Kids, "about 400,000 people die from their own
smoking each year, and about 50,000 die from second–hand smoke annually. Smoking kills more
people than AIDS, alcohol, car accidents, illegal drugs, murders and...show more content...
Additionally, nicotine tightens the blood vessels which slows down blood flow. The health effects of
smoking are frightfully damaging and in many cases, deadly. The chemicals in tobacco smoke are
breathed in into the lungs and then travel throughout the body.
(Internal Summary/Transition: Moreover, smoking is not only bad for your health, but also the
health of the people around you.)
II.Main Idea 2
A.You do not have to be an active smoker to experience the harmful effects of smoke. Breathing in
the smoke of active smokers is enough to cause you serious health issues. Non–smokers who breathe
in secondhand smoke take in nicotine and other toxic chemicals causing them serious health issues.
Exposure to environmental tobacco smoke damages their organs, mainly the lungs and brain.
B.According to the book Health Psychology by Naima Khatoon, "Short term exposure to tobacco
smoke also has a measurable effect on the heart in non–smokers. Just 30 minutes exposure is enough
to reduce coronary blood flow."
(Internal Summary/Transition: Smoking can not only ruin your health, but also cause economic
destruction. We will examine the impact of smoking on the economy.)
III.Main Idea 3
A.As discussed on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, "tobacco use costs the
United States billions of dollars each year. The total economic cost of smoking is more than $300
billion a year, which include nearly $170 billion spent on tobacco–related

Informative Speech On Culture
Speech Rough Draft
Conflicting cultures. Does being from multiple cultures that have conflicts with each other benefit
or hurt us? Before I answer this question, I would like to ask you another question, "What do you
call a hot Indian girl? Bomb Bae." Before you feel pity for my whole nation, and come under the
belief that this sense of humour is applicable to all from where I am from. First let me ask you,
where am I from?
For the past 7 years when someone would ask me about my nationality, I always answered with
Pindia. Although this is not a country, it is where I am from. My father is fromPakistan and my
mother is from India, being from 2 conflicting cultures, I find it tough to fit in only one.
Furthermore, I was born in the US and I currently am in an American School. But, I also feel as
though the American culture has been...show more content...
The largest conflict that comes up is that whenever they play each other in cricket, I have to just
shut up, and make sure I don't anger both of my parents. I remember about 6 years ago when the
two teams played each other for a spot in the semi–finals of the T20 tournament. We were in Dubai
with my family, cousins, and some of our friends who were also Indian or Pakistani. I remember
every single 4, 6 or wicket that occurred for both teams, and how I was the only person who was
cheering for every single movement that occurred. By the end, I realized two things, one that the
two teams were rivals, and that this was probably why people were giving me stares of disgust,
and that I should only vote for one team. Although in reality this is only a small conflict, and
whoever wins doesn't affect me directly, I still find that it is a massive issue for me. On a larger
scale this basically means that the small differences and disputes that the countries have with each
other make it tough for me to choose a

involving opioid addiction. I know this because it states it in the thesis. Yes, the purpose/thesis is
the new methods that are being put into place to prevent doctor shopping and addiction of opioids.
2.Is the document well supported? Do you notice a synthesis of source material? Is it clear that

The thing that would make this essay more informative is explaining the in–text citations a little
more. Sometimes you jump right into a source without introducing it first, that can get a little
confusing as a reader. There were also a couple times that you ended the in–text citation, without
explaining it. So, introducing and ending in text citations would make the essay more
informative. There were times that I was confused because it went from talking about one source
at the end of a paragraph to another source at the beginning of the next paragraph. 2.What would
make this essay seem more academically credible? a.Something that would make this essay more
academically credible would be using more than four sources. You have six sources listed on the
works cited page, but in the essay, I only noticed that four of them were used. I would recommend
if you do not use a source in the paper, taking it off the works cited page. I did not see the first
source "Arlotta" referenced in the paper. It seems like you really only used the Center for Disease
and Control, "Geebhart" and "Sansone." 3.What is the best feature of this document? a.The best
feature about the essay is the amount of statistics about doctor shopping involving opioid abuse is

early childhood, golf career, and the scandal that became his downfall.
INTRODUCTION
Who in your opinion is the most dominant well–known figure in professional sports? This is up for
debate to many of us as we all have different likes or interests. But there is one individual who was
destined for stardom and was in the spotlight at a very early age.
He is arguably the one individual in our lifetime that transformed his sport. With his presence, the

Soon enough, Tiger was mimicking his dad's golf swing and Earl Woods became amazed at what
Tiger could do with a golf club by the age of 2. 2. Tiger became noticed by the world at the ripe
old age of two yrs. old when he appeared on the Mike Douglas show. He was featured in Golf
Digest at the age of 5 and began winning junior tournaments with kids four to five years older
than him at the age of 8 (Londino 23). 3. He had a close relationship with his father and it is well
documented that Tiger got his mental toughness through him. His dad use makes all kinds of noises

distraction or lose his composure. 4. At age 15 Woods became the youngest ever U.S. Junior

Informative Essay On Education
Informative Analysis Essay In today's world, education has taken center stage and is considered
to be the focal point for success and prosperity in one's future. Education while previously thought
to not be important and was not necessarily required, has taken a complete 180 and has gained the
attention of many professionals and experts in several areas and fields (Hanford, "The Value of a
College Degree"). Many questions people ask are if education as a whole has taken a decline in
value, or whether or not people should still undertake a post–secondary education with all of the
costs associated with it. What was once thought to be a surefire way to guarantee a solid future has
turned into the target of debate as of late. Many people side with the continued thought that college
is worth it, but others are turning heads at the thought of going to college to try for a better future
(Tierney "AMERICAN HIGHER EDUCATION: How Does It Measure Up for the 21st Century?").
While many experts and activists in the field of education, as well as those outside education,
share universal ground over the ideas of obtaining a "worthwhile" education and the outcome of a
better future based on the education one receives, they have not acquired a complete agreement
about if college is worth pursuing in relation to the costs that accompany it, how much education is
enough in today's world and if it is important to even possess a degree. Over the last 100 or so years,
the price of going to

would know something was going on, it was as he had superpowers. He believed that we could
work hard enough to succeed. He had hope on us whatsoever. Failing wasn't an option for us, he
would try his best to make us understand the lesson. Making us learn each problem step–by–step.

Informative Essay About Bullying
Bullying is a type of behavior that hurts, humiliates or harms another person physically or
emotionally. For instance, Take Josh. He was a 7th grade student in a small town where his dad
lives still to this day he was a boy with short golden hair. In his first year of middle school, kids
taunted him and spit on him in the hallways. It didn't occur to him to tell his parents or teachers.
Finally, when a group of 20 kids threatened to beat him up at the carwash the next day, he finally
told his older brother, who in turn informed his parents. His dad looked up his main tormentor's
phone number in the phone book and told her dad to make his daughter stop or he'd contact the
police. It worked. Josh's story is a story to tell others and studies show that each year kids just like
Josh are victims of bullying. Over 3.2 million school aged students are bullied each year according to
https://www.dosomething.org/us/facts/11–facts–about–bullying resulting in about 160,000 staying
home from school because of it. 17% of American students report being bullied 2 to 3 times a
month or more within a school semester. Josh was bullied so badly in the worst ways and he
decided to tell and it changed his life, you can make the decision to tell yourself or let others, but
don't just sit there and let the bullies be mean, if josh wouldn't have told his brother then josh
would have had bruises all over his face after school. If you see someone getting bullied i suggest
you tell someone it will change someone's life.
There are several types of bullying. One form of bullying is verbal. People can be verbally bullied
by name calling, insults, teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist remarks.
Another type of bullying is cyber bullying. People are cyber–bullied by being harassed online,
cyberstalking, outing, and catfished. The terms outing and Catfishing are not well–known but they
are truly terrible. Outing is the public display or forwarding of personal communications such as
text messages, emails or instant messaging. If you don't know what Catfishing is, it is a person who
fakes there age on an online account and tries luring out young people, and many teens. There has

Writing An Informative Essay
The definition essay is the most basic form of an informative essay. Its goal is to simply provide an
explanation. Informative essays that define provide their explanation using one of three methods:
They can use synonyms to explain what the new term is similar to, categories to help the reader see
where the term fits in compared to others, or negation to allow the reader to understand the term by
seeing what it isn't. In addition to the three methods, there are several ways you can organize an
informative essay that provides a definition. The most important thing is to present them in a logical
order that makes sense, and there's not one method that's best in every case. Some organization
schemes you might consider include presenting examples

Speech : A Reflection Of An Informative Speech
Informative Speech Reflection Paper After giving and analyzing my informative speech I learned
many new things that will help me in my future speeches. Looking at the aspects of content,
delivery, and organization I have learned by gibing this speech and being in this class how to
better come across to my audience to make my topic as clear and as informative as I can. This
assignment has helped me gain a better understanding of my topic, but also has helped me gain
further knowledge on writing and giving my speech to an audience, along with opened my eyes to
improvements I need to make in my future speeches. I have learned many new techniques and
aspects to include in my speeches to make my future speeches better. Content is a very important
part of an informative speech. I focused a lot on having strong points in my informative speech. I
focused on discussing the types of service dogs, and the qualifications to have a service dog,
along with the training a service dog undergoes. My main points I chose to include in my
informative speech I expressed very well and went into a good amount of detail, however in some
areas I could have given a more in–depth explanation. One thing I could have improved on in regard
to my content would have been giving more background information on serve dogs, by including
things like how long they have been around and the number of service dogs currently in the U.S. By
doing this I would have added not only more content to my speech,

Since then, the number of attacks that took place have had a considerable impact in different parts

The effects of social media on human behavior: An Informative Essay
Communication varied in form and method since the beginning of civilization. However, since
technology was used for the exchange of information, many different technological platforms were
created and this has had an effect on communication itself. For example, social media revolutionized
human communication in an irrevocable way. In the 21st century, social media is playing an
important role in our community. Through social media we communicate, we share, we have
fun and we can even work every day with people all around the world. But, as social media is
growing and becoming essential, the only thing we started caring about is likes, followers,
showing off, and feeding our virtual life, even if it's fake. This topic seems relevant and highly
important in a time where technology is becoming essential and vital for our everyday life. Social
media serves as a way of exposing people's day to day events, even the most trivial ones, and we
have come to a point where this obsession for posting everything has exceeded any type of existent
limit flirting with the line that distinguishes social media as an art and a vice. To what extent is this
addiction carrying humanity in the right direction?
The effects of social media are mainly affecting kids, teens and young adults. Over the last years,
we became aware of the consequences and problems the use of social media brings. For example,
cyberbullying is a main issue as people may take advantage of being behind a screen to say things
they would not say in person. Moreover, social media may be seen as a waste of time because we
tend to spend the whole day using these platforms instead of make the most of our time. In fact,
sitting down all day is not healthy and it may bring severe future problems such as diabetes and
obesity. Furthermore, with social media we can even learn other's life story and the things they like
by looking at their profiles. This may be dangerous as people with evil intentions have access to this
information too.
People believe and know social media has both, positive and negative effects on human behavior. In
order to prove this, I asked my classmates whether social media has

I will be writing this argument essay to an audience of people who support and want to solve the issue to stop mistreating animals that are consumed. Also, this essay could benefit people who are not aware of this issue or have an opposing view. There are many reasons that this argument is a concern. These reasons include overlooked production practices, high and fast demand...show more content... They are as easy as enforcing better laws and regulations. "Livestock production relies heavily on antimicrobials, hormones, and a variety of other pharmaceuticals. A number of concerns have been raised about these developments, including the presence of drug residues in meat and the impact of these production techniques on animal welfare" (Schneider). Today many people are confused as to why there are not a lot stricter and enforced rules being taken into play when it comes to our health and the environment. Even though there are many rules and regulation put into place by the FDA it is a possibility that there are so many underlying rules and regulations put into place and it is hard for these companies to keep up with them. There needs to be a strict and a laid out set of rules that are easy to follow and that are not being changed and modified daily. These laws and regulations are more likely to be changed if more attention was brought to this issue. Attention could be brought to the public by more media such as social media, television, newspapers, etc. By bringing attention to this matter people will want to become more educated about the topic and what they can do to help prevent this type of behavior. "Each year an estimated 5,000 Americans die and another 77 million get sick from disease producing agents in the food they eat" (Sifry). These numbers show how undereducated people are about the risks buying Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Before I answer this question, I would like to ask you another question, "What do you call a hot Indian girl? Bomb Bae." Before you feel pity for my whole nation, and come under the belief that this sense of humour is applicable to all from where I am from. First let me ask you, where am I from? For the past 7 years when someone would ask me about my nationality, I always answered with Pindia. Although this is not a country, it is where I am from. My father is fromPakistan and my mother is from India, being from 2 conflicting cultures, I find it tough to fit in only one. Furthermore, I was born in the US and I currently am in an American School. But, I also feel as though the American culture has been...show more content... The largest conflict that comes up is that whenever they play each other in cricket, I have to just shut up, and make sure I don't anger both of my parents. I remember about 6 years ago when the two teams played each other for a spot in the semi–finals of the T20 tournament. We were in Dubai with my family, cousins, and some of our friends who were also Indian or Pakistani. I remember every single 4, 6 or wicket that occurred for both teams, and how I was the only person who was cheering for every single movement that occurred. By the end, I realized two things, one that the two teams were rivals, and that this was probably why people were giving me stares of disgust, and that I should only vote for one team. Although in reality this is only a small conflict, and whoever wins doesn't affect me directly, I still find that it is a massive issue for me. On a larger scale this basically means that the small differences and disputes that the countries have with each other make it tough for me to choose a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Sometimes you jump right into a source without introducing it first, that can get a little confusing as a reader. There were also a couple times that you ended the in–text citation, without explaining it. So, introducing and ending in text citations would make the essay more informative. There were times that I was confused because it went from talking about one source at the end of a paragraph to another source at the beginning of the next paragraph. 2.What would make this essay seem more academically credible? a.Something that would make this essay more academically credible would be using more than four sources. You have six sources listed on the works cited page, but in the essay, I only noticed that four of them were used. I would recommend if you do not use a source in the paper, taking it off the works cited page. I did not see the first source "Arlotta" referenced in the paper. It seems like you really only used the Center for Disease and Control, "Geebhart" and "Sansone." 3.What is the best feature of this document? a.The best feature about the essay is the amount of statistics about doctor shopping involving opioid abuse is Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. Informative Essay On Education Informative Analysis Essay In today's world, education has taken center stage and is considered to be the focal point for success and prosperity in one's future. Education while previously thought to not be important and was not necessarily required, has taken a complete 180 and has gained the attention of many professionals and experts in several areas and fields (Hanford, "The Value of a College Degree"). Many questions people ask are if education as a whole has taken a decline in value, or whether or not people should still undertake a post–secondary education with all of the costs associated with it. What was once thought to be a surefire way to guarantee a solid future has turned into the target of debate as of late. Many people side with the continued thought that college is worth it, but others are turning heads at the thought of going to college to try for a better future (Tierney "AMERICAN HIGHER EDUCATION: How Does It Measure Up for the 21st Century?"). While many experts and activists in the field of education, as well as those outside education, share universal ground over the ideas of obtaining a "worthwhile" education and the outcome of a better future based on the education one receives, they have not acquired a complete agreement about if college is worth pursuing in relation to the costs that accompany it, how much education is enough in today's world and if it is important to even possess a degree. He was a 7th grade student in a small town where his dad lives still to this day he was a boy with short golden hair. In his first year of middle school, kids taunted him and spit on him in the hallways. It didn't occur to him to tell his parents or teachers.
