Contractor WHS
Contractors are over represented in the injury statistics

developing regional based approaches bringing operators and contractors together

identify issues that need to be addressed and

agree on approaches to address them.

5. Safe design

Following on from MSAC initiatives MSAC will be implementing a participatory “Safe Design Program”.

The aim of the program is to promote a holistic process at examining priority design issues (for example roof bolting) that has commitment from Operators, OEM’s and government.


Fatalities Review Following 5 fatalities in four incidents last financial year MSAC is currently reviewing the current situation to identify if there are underlying and systemic issues for the industry to address. Timely Communication of findings from mining incidents Examining how the findings from investigations into major mining incidents can be communicated to industry and the public in a timelier manner.
