respect from their in–office peers, new research finds. While there has long been a perception that employees who work from home don't work as
hard as those in an office, perceptions are shifting, according to a study from Dell and Intel. More than half of employees globally now believe that
their peers who work from home are just as productive, or more productive, than those in the office. Remote employees also feel like they get more
done from the comfort of their own home. Of those who spend any time working from home, half believe they are more productive there than... Show

The research shows that the average employee spends at least some time each week working from home. While employees spend an average of 32
hours each week working from their office, they also spend an average of 5 hours working from home each week. Distractions are just as much of a
problem for office workers as they are for at–home employees. While more than three–quarters of office–based employees said they feel they work
best in an office at their desk, 48 percent indicated that they are frequently interrupted by colleagues. The study also showed that the office doesn't seem
to aid in increasing interpersonal communications either, with 51 percent of employees still frequently instant messaging or emailing colleagues who
are located physically near them, rather than talking with them directly. Besides those who work from home during the day, the majority of employees
are also spending some time after–hours working from home. Nearly 65 percent of employees globally conduct at least some business at home after
business hours. Genevieve Bell, U.S. director of user experience for Intel Corp., said there is far more blurring of the lines between working in an
office and at home than ever before. "If you're in the knowledge work business, you work in the tech field or in the creative and arts field, I think it's
safe to say that there's been a great more blurring of work," Bell said. "It no longer just happens in the office – it

Telecommuting Suggestion Report
The first course of action this tech firm should take is to create a productivity report to analyze the current state of the company's workforce. It was
mentioned that the organization already has fifty employees telecommuting. However, the head executives have yet to make a formalized plan. This
was a large oversight that could have potentially caused a lot of tension between the two groups of employees. Although guidelines should have been
created before telecommuting began, it will help show any differences between the two groups in the productivity report. A suggestion for how the
report should be created and implemented would be to weigh whatever task is most important for each job and compare the performance between
onsite and telecommuting staff members. Having this information will help determine if the company should even allowing working off site all together.
Unfortunately, the prompt did not specify how well telecommuting had been working for the firm before asking for suggestions. Hypothetically
we will say that the percentage of productivity for off site workers was equally as high as on site. A company would have a difficult time if everyone
telecommutes, however, it would be wise to allow some flexibility in work schedules. The tech firm could include temporary off site work as well. For
example, allowing an employee with a cold to work at home or if a deadline is pressing and a staff member works better at home. If the company

Telecommuting Position Paper
Recently, there has been a growing request for options to telework/telecommute within various departments at the St. Anthony Foundation. I
recommend the Human Resource department adopt a policy that will include processes for eligibility, task reporting, and managerial oversight for
telecommuting employees. The organization recognizes having more flexibility in work schedules will alleviate some work and family conflict, and
hopes telecommuting will be a benefit for the employees (Pynes, 2014). Having a formal policy on teleworking/telecommuting will minimize any
misuse of this benefit and will ensure all requests are fairly considered.

Since telecommuters could miss out on developmental activities such as interpersonal networking, informational learning, and mentoring, there will
need to be a limit to the frequency of telecommuting (Cooper & Kurland, 2002). Limiting telecommuting to one day per week will prevent employees
from becoming isolated with the organization (Cooper & Kurland, 2002). Requesting more than one day per week will require additional evaluation.
Employees will complete a standardized form to be submitted to their supervisor. This form will include an agenda outlining their tasks and intended
outcomes for their telecommute day. Additionally, supervisors will provide feedback on the agenda and require the employee to complete and submit a
telecommute diary when returning to work (Cooper & Kurland, 2002). Limiting the frequency of telecommuting and keeping detailed records of
off–site activities will keep the use of the policy fair, objective, and hold all employees accountable for their

Home Office's Annual Staff Survey
Introduction
This report is conducted to analyze data of latest Home Office's annual staff survey and define the key areas of concern and success. The staff survey
was taken this year and cover overall level of satisfaction and engagement among employees. The report will be presented at the next meeting of the
Home Office's senior management board scheduled on 14th of December 2014.
Overview of overall level of engagement
The degree of engagement among staff of UK Home Office is close to 50%. It remains in the same position as in the previous year. However, the
difference even between benchmark according to Civil Service survey is 9% not in a favor of the Home Office, the difference with top quarter of survey
is 13%. According to Table... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instant, the team and fair treatment have approximately no influence on the overall engagement level. Although, even work and line management
has performed higher than 60% that is a point of congratulation in comparison with other drivers, the strongest one, leadership and managing change,
is remaining in the same position. In order to compare the strength of different drivers, there is 73% of the staff that satisfied with their team and only
30% positive answer with leadership style in the organization. By the fact, that leadership has the strongest impact of the engagement level, the
changes in it would be crucial for it, unlike the job satisfaction with the team. For the all three key drivers of engagement, leadership, work and line
management, Home Office still stay below the benchmark that estimated by CS2012 by 11%, 9% and 5% respectively.
Leadership and managing change
There are 18% of respondents considers that all of the changes in the organization are making their work better. It is disappointing, but the score is
lower from previous year for 1% and for 7% lower than average level among other civil departments. From the point of view of 31% of staff, Home
Office has clear understanding of future goal. It is good to know that this number increased form previous year for 2%, however it is still under the
benchmark by 9%. The feeling, that organization as a whole is managed well, is inherent only for 28% of employees. It is worse than past result for 1%

Should Telecommuting Be Encouraged For Society?
'Telecommuting' refers to workers doing their jobs from home for part of each week and communicating with their office using computer technology.
Telecommuting is growing in many countries and is expected to be common for most office workers in the coming decades. How do you think society
will be affected by the growth of telecommuting? Should telecommuting be encouraged for society?
(Telecommuting is the use of computers and telephones to enable an employee to work off–site and outside the traditional workplace)
A topic which has created much controversy is whether telecommuting should be encouraged or not. This issue is very crucial since it influences
several aspects in people lives, both in positive and negative ways. This essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as Desrochers claims, work–family blurring can be minimized by keeping a consistent schedule through boundary activities such as
discouraging family members from disrupting one's work and working only in a particular room of the home (2003:5). In addition, telecommuting
provides flexible work hours, which allows telecommuters to spend more time at home with their families so as to strengthen emotional ties within
them. Therefore, as Raines and Leathers explain "telecommuters perceive the consequences of the alternative workplace to be an improved quality of
home"(2001:2).
Many people contend that telecommuting might pose telecommuters to problems of reduced health. Lack of mobility in doing their work and
"alienation from workplace dynamics" are claimed as contributing factor of stress which may result in stress related illness for telecommuters (Raines
and Leathers, 2001:3). However, there is growing evidence that telecommuting brings significant safety and health benefits. As Johnson states, less
commuting frequency in telecommuting diminishes risk of "traffic related injuries" (1998:1). This also leads to a decrease in pollution rate which will
be followed by reduction in the risk of pollution related illness such as respiratory infection. Moreover, work schedule flexibility in telecommuting
allows workers to have more time for "personal growth activities" (see www.csus.edu/indiv.v/velianitis/101) such as sport

I Have Always Had A Love For Dark Eyeliners
I have always had a love for dark eyeliners. For me the accentuate my eyes, and make them look bigger, while enhancing the green color of my
eyes. I had been for quite some time using an eyeliner jug, which I loved, but at the same time, hated how long it took to apply the liner. These
days I 'm more about fast, simple, and effective. When I came across Revlon Bedroom Eyes Powder Liner, Fishnet Jet 660, at my local Rite Aide, I
was immediately intrigued. A liner that goes on in a powdered form, yet is applied in the same manner that a wet liner would be applied. Revlon
Bedroom Eyes Powder Liner, Fishnet Jet 660, comes in what appears to be a liquid eyeliner type container. At the bottom there is a small pot, where
a screw on cap reveals the actual application wand. I seriously had no idea what to expect, and the in store advertisement was vague, and showed bland
color results on the color menu which was located right below the rack of liners. I went with Fishnet Jet, because on the advertising it appeared to
be the darkest color; yet it also looked as if it had some sort of navy tint going on. The word NEW stood out, and I couldn 't resist it. I went ahead
and made the purchase. I hoped it worked well, because honestly $9.95 for such a small container is a bit much in my opinion. My Use: When I first
opened up the package, I unscrewed the top and found that the application wand had a large sponge applicator at the end. A lot larger than what I was

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Working At Home
Nowadays, a lot of housewife who do their work from home. The number of housewife who prefers to work from home is increasing. Either it is a
part time job or a full time job. Maybe it is because of there are many chances in the market. They can also set up the environment same as office
from home easily. In this essay, I will discuss about the advantage and disadvantage of working at home and propose my personal opinion. The
advantage which I would like to share is the employee can learn more and become more independent. It is because if you don't have colleagues, a
leader or a tech team to teach you or help you, you'll have to find out yourself the way to settle your problem. By looking for your own answers you
will becoming more proactive to find what you need on your own. But, you still can ask questions and get help if you need to. Besides of that, you

If you work at office, you will feel tired when you reach home. Working at home you can have more times to play games with your children.
Working at home means that housewife gets to plan how she can dedicate a portion of your quality time with her loved ones. She can also
probably save on elder children's care arrangements. For younger children it is probably impractical to forgo proper childcare arrangements and
try to balance care and supervision with the demands of the job. This is the best time to do it. If housewife take care of her children while working,
she will face plenty of distractions when she is working alone. The thing about working from home is that a lot will be placed in front of you
because you are at home all the time. You might have to get off an important phone to call to attend your kids or do the laundry or something urgent
that comes at home. Finishing all your chores is needed but you must remember to keep away from all kinds of distractions if you want to become the

Recently there has been a growing request for options to telework/telecommute in various departments within the company. I recommend the Human
Resource department adopt a policy that will include procedures for selection criteria, approval of planned schedule, work, or project, and managerial

Telecommuting for our agency will be defined as an employee is working away from the office for one or more days within a given week

Telecommuting has been shown to reduce absenteeism, improve retention, and reduce recruitment costs for the organization (Family, pg. 730).
Increased employee moral is also a benefit associated with telecommuting (Professional Isolation, pg. 512). Offering this new benefit that is such a
satisfier for employees will likely result in reduced turnover within the organization and higher productivity. A study found pubic employees who were
satisfied with their telework/telecommuting benefits were less likely to leave their positions (Family pg. 732). With the reduction of office time, an
increase in employee productivity is likely due to fewer interruptions from fellow employees (Lessons pg. 10). With telecommuting having benefits to

Abstract A day at the office no longer means long commutes, dressing in a suit and tie or a dress, and performing work according to a 9 to 5
schedule with the boss looking over your shoulder. With the Industrial Revolution came change in how and where people work. The changes were
seen subtly at first; people slowly moved to the cities to find work in factories, but then the changes started becoming more noticeable. People
flocked to the cities because that is where a person could find work. The days of the small farmer who grew food for his own family were gone. Big
corporations moved in and people were hired in by the hundreds, usually to perform meaningless, dreary, work. Modern society is seeing a new kind of

Another limitation is more studies need to be performed with the companies and employees to research if the home office is working for both.
Trends of Moving from the Employer's Office to the Home Office With the invention of the telephone and the introduction of the internet along with
other technological advances more people are making the transition from working at the office to working from home. Home offices are often
referred to as virtual offices or virtual companies. "VOXmarketing is a "virtual company". " It has no headquarters, no cubicles, no employee break
room, no HR office where it takes job applications.... workers are connected via phones, e–mail, and the Internet" (Shartin, 2006). Matt Bai, (2007),
Political Writer for the New York Times (NYT), states that "in [Mark Penn's] new book, "Microtrends", [Penn]...notes that 4.2 million Americans
now work exclusively from home (a nearly 100 percent increase from 1990), while some 20 million do it part time. Some of these workers are
employees who telecommute to traditional offices, but most represent a kind of modern, untethered American work force". Bai goes on to say that
"[these people] do most of their work in the comfort of their own homes, or in their cars, or maybe at Starbucks". One question that needs answered is
if a person wants to work from home and their job duties allow them to work from a remote area, then why shouldn't companies help the employee
make this happen? Bai, (2007),

Yahoo announced in 2013 that it would no longer offer the option for employees to work remotely. Although technology has evolved and created the
ability to work remotely, productivity can diminish if management is not in place to accommodate and support the endeavor. If implemented properly,
companies can benefit from employees working remotely by realizing cost savings of office space and utilities, employee retention and broadening
their candidate pool. However, working remotely will fail due to management oversite, not hiring the right people, and a lack of communication and
collaboration between the company and its employees. In my opinion, Yahoo messed up...big time!

Performance monitoring can help identify lapses in productivity and eliminate the need to have people onsite. Edward E. Lawler, III points out in an
article on the Forbes.com website that "the skills of managers are critical. With managers who can set meaningful goals, monitor performance results
and provide feedback, remote working can produce good results. Without skilled managers, it will be a failure."
On the Bloomberg BNA website (bna.com), Genevieve Douglas wrote about remote opportunities after hearing David Lewis, president and CEO of HR
consulting firm Operations Inc. at the Society for Human Resource Management's annual conference in Orlando, FL.:
Lewis said that employers should use a remote work option when the available talent in a commutable distance is scarce or when life changes alter an
employee's circumstances. However, he said, not every employee is a good candidate for a remote set–up. According to Lewis, employees who should
be allowed to work remotely include those who have jobs where the nature of the work can be performed without face–to–face interaction with
co–workers or clients. Employees would also have to demonstrate that they are capable of working remotely in terms of being mature and independent
and having a proven track record, he

Explain Why Some Working At Home Are More Productive Than...
91 Percent of People Who Work at Home Are More Productive Than at Work When the idea of working remotely comes up in a conversation, I
find that people tend to respond in one of two ways: total dread or utter delight. Some professionals recall the risks and difficulties of working away
from the office, while others rave about having the flexibility to create their own schedule and work environment. Regardless of how you work best
and where you personally stand on the topic, it's worth considering the benefits of offering remote working opportunities to your team and
organization. With clear expectations and guidelines in place, remote working can bolster productivity and build trust within your team. In fact, in a
2016 survey of American remote workers, 91 percent of people who work remotely revealed that they're more productive than when they're in an
office. In some ways, remote working is similar to having teams in different locations or spread across various parts of the country. However,
establishing telecommuting protocol isn't always intuitive and the practice has yet to be considered or implemented at many organizations or in some
cases has been implemented and retracted at some others. Here are a few tips to keep in mind if you are considering this as an option for your team.

Microsoft Office For The Home And The Workplace
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) is by far the best productivity suite currently available for the home and the workplace. It
is the total package when it comes to handling budgeting, payroll, inventory, etc. for businesses and home use. There are however free alternatives
which share a lot in common, so let's look at the pros and cons and decide for yourself which is the better solution. Most choose Microsoft Office as the
best so let's compare. How does Microsoft Office (i.e. 2013) and free open source alternatives (i.e. LibreOffice, OpenOffice) compare? The
predominant business offering, Office from Microsoft, inevitably yielded some prominence when a reasonable open source contender, OpenOffice,
developed and took after an alternate open source choice, LibreOffice. How do these alternative open source programs fair in comparison from the
Microsoft Office? Bothe open source suites offer an instrument called "Base" which is like that of Access from Microsoft, an apparatus called Draw
(like Visio), and a mathematical statement proofreader called Math, while Microsoft office incorporates the desktop distributed Publisher. The ones to
be talked about in this paper are the following: handling (word), spreadsheet (excel), and presentation (powerpoint) instruments.
What are the benefits of using either open source or commercial products? Before we take a gander at particular gimmicks of the contending suites, it

The Importance Of Working In An Office
Many people work in different environments, for example, at home and in an office. Some people decide to work at home because they won't
have to deal with getting up on time in the morning or going through morning and afternoon traffic. Working in an office is the best choice due to
many reasons like becoming more collaborative and knowing when the day is over. Other reasons for why it is better to work in an office is
because you get feedback and answers very fast and because there is not as many interruptions like at home with family. The first reason why
working at an office is better is because people are more collaborative and and innovative when they're together. As it says in article by Fortune, they
believe that "people are more productive when they're alone but they're more collaborative and innovative when they're together. Some of the best
ideas come from pulling two different ideas together". This demonstrates that whenever you work with someone else, you have more chance to work
together and create a great plan or idea. Maradiaga 2 The next reason to why working in an office is better than at home is because it's easier to
communicate with colleagues. Some people are anti–socialist so they would do good at home but it's always an advantage because you get to meet
with someone and so you have a better interaction with your co–partners. According to Work It Daily, when working at home, your boss will send you

Paid Employment in the Home Essay
Paid Employment in the Home
In her book The Second Shift, Arlie Hochschild describes how two–job married couples in the United States deal with the structural problem of the
domestic work shift, i.e., that when both members of a marriage work outside of the home, the domestic work becomes an added burden to one or
both of the members in addition to their outside jobs. Modern society has increased the work load of the family, thereby increasing tension in marriages
and taking away time for leisure and recreation for both spouses. Hochschild calls this a "stalled revolution" (12) because women's entrance into the
full–time workforce has yet to bring about the necessary structural change in American family life. Assuming that this state ... Show more content on

However, the 40 percent increase conveys the drastic growth of the home work population, which seems to be generalizable to smaller sub–groups of
the home work population as defined below. Because this movement back into the home is relatively new and because of its current relatively
small size, it is difficult for social scientists to get large enough samples to make judgments about the characteristics of home work (Kraut 1989).
Home work is seen in the current literature in both highly optimistic and strongly negative terms, and the size of the work at home population has
been described as "less than 2 percent of the U.S. labor force" (Shamir 1992, p. 280) and "nearly one quarter of the labor force" (Farmanfarmaian
1989, p. 37). These contradictions are due to both the size of this group of workers, as mentioned earlier, and a lack of agreement between
researchers on a definition of the home worker (for example, how many hours of work at home per week, working out of the home vs. working at
home, etc.).
Robert Kraut (1989) groups home workers into 3 categories: substitutors, the self–employed, and supplementers. Substitutors are those who work at
home regularly, either full–time or part– time, as a substitution for working in an office. They can be subcontractors or participants in a corporate work

patients came in with billing questions, or whether the gift shop and cafeteria needed change or needed to make deposits, and so forth. Secondly, I

The Prison System Is Not Functioning Well
It has long been apparent that the UK's current prison system is not functioning well. Although the HM Prison Service outline their purpose as 'we keep
those sentenced to prison in custody, helping them lead law–abiding and useful lives, both while they are in prison and after they are released' (Gov.uk,
2016), currently nearly half of all prisoners go on to re–offend within a year, which costs society ВЈ15 billion a year (Ministry of Justice, 2016). In
addition, last summer, the Chief Inspector of Prisons warned that jails in England and Waleswere in their worst state for a decade (HM Chief Inspector
of Prisons for England and Wales, 2015) with sharp rises in inmate violence, increasing drug use, staff shortages and squalid conditions. Therefore there
is no doubt that the prison system is in urgent need of reform.
Last month, Elizabeth Truss outlined planned reforms to the prison system in a government proposal, 'Prison Security and Reform' she labelled 'the
blueprint for the biggest overhaul of our prisons in a generation". She outlined plans for a governor–led approach, in which prison governors will have
the power to opt out of national contracts, and make their own resource allocation decisions. Six 'reform' prisons with these features are already being
trialled around the country, but it is too early to judge their impact. (Ministry of Justice, 2016). Autonomy is expected to empower staff, improve
standards and lead to a reduction in reoffending. The idea came from

The Importance Of Life In My Life
Happily, several things I have aspired to achieve in my younger years, have finally come to fruition in the autumn days of my life. Despite not winning
the lottery (yet), I have been lucky enough to accomplish most of those "dreams" I had fantasized about in my younger years. But it wasn't until
recently, I found my niche in the world of free–lance writing. Taunting and vexing me, fate dangled the golden apple of writing and paid opportunities
in front of my wanting eyes for years. Now, as I look out into the inspiring skyline of my city from not one, but two directions, I can not only take
pride in one of my goals being realized, but |I can do it from the comfort of my home and corner office – in my pyjamas. Many articles have been
written on the benefits of working from home. However, for the free–lance writer, or anyone relying on imagination to successfully execute their job,
creative abandon must also on occasion partner with discipline, which can make for strange bedfellows. But I can think of no other place conducive to
achieving detente between these two dichotomies than my own office, in my own home. Moreover, I am fortunate enough to live in a corner suite, and
can literally and figuratively get two different perspectives, moods, and scenes which often influence my writing. And with all due respect to the
monolithic architecture of my city, it still doesn't come close to the view and inspiration I am filled with when bidding adieu to the effulgence of the

Communication: Communication plays a crucial role within any organization, and can make it successful or break it completely apart. Communication
can affect almost every aspect of the business from customer relations, employee engagement and management, to product development. Employees are
the focus when communicating, they are the heart of the organization as they line to patrons. When the employees feel informed and engaged, the
communication exchange between them and the patrons should be stronger. (Richards, 2017)

Reflection Paper
I hope all is well. Yesterday, October6,2017, when I stepped outside of Hennepin Health's office suite into the hallway my eyes immediately began
tearing. When I returned back to my work space my eyes continuously teared. Since, my former manager resignation, I have been reporting to
Marilee Moritz, Customer Service Manager. She witnessed the tearing of my eyes and redness. I asked if I could leave and work from home. She
replied, "No" one can work from home, and then I asked her if I work in office suite, 222, since that office suite has been empty, around July 8, 2017. If
I could work in an enclosed office space with my air purifier I could remain in the building for 8 hours. Marilee, said no, since leadership team is
interviewing for the person I can't occupy that office space.
At this point, I maximized all my efforts to work and I am the only person on the team that is not allowed a flexible work schedule due to a medical
condition. It's unfortunate the Hennepin Health senior management and Grain Exchange employees failed to report all the water leaks to the
environmentalist Company Braun Intec. When I left for the day I noticed Grain Exchange maintenance workers addressing a water issue on the 2nd

Technology In Canada
According to the Globe and Mail, as of 2013, 23% of Canadian Companies offered employees the option to telecommute. A Statistics Canada study
stated that in 2000, 1,425,700 respondents worked from home, where as in 2008 the number of people working from home was 1,748,600, a small
but notable upward trend. Though numbers are only increasing slowly, more and more Canadians are working from home. The trend is particularly
impacting university graduates, of who more than 1 in 5 work from home. Factors that have contributed to this trend include an increase in the type
and availability of technology, the desire of today's workers to have a better work–life balance, and the desire of companies to attract employees. In
today's work technology is increasing at a rapid pace, and much of it is more accessible than before. An example that has been changed by both of
these factors is the internet. When first introduced to homes and businesses, use of the internet required it to be connected to a phone line. In many
homes this would have meant that you could use one or the other, but not both at once. During this era access to the internet was limited to those who

More employees are converting to telecommuting due to a variety of reasons. "The current business paradigm shift recognizes that space and time no
longer contractually define the mode and nature of work. Workers do not have to go to where the work is– instead, work is now sent to where the
workers are – in homes, satellite offices, and neighborhood work centers,"(Nyaanga, 2012). Author Solomon makes a valid point in his article since
many people do not want to do the daily commute five to six days a week. Not only does it waste actual work time, money for transportation, but also
the convenience capabilities for employees. The convenience certainly applies to employees who do not live close to the office setting or live in a
very populated area with heavy traffic.
Telecommuting Advantages
"For over 30 years, the workplace has undergone a series of transformations such as the integration of technology into business work design, product
innovation, development, processes, performance, delivery, productivity, creativity, competitiveness, and worker flexibility," (Nyaanga, 2012). Having

The problem is that by working from home, you tend to take yourself out of the running for promotions and work rewards (Turcotte). You will also
find that in many cases, the job that you would be promoted into can't be done from home so you simply won't be considered for it. This is a non
issue if you are content staying in the same position for the duration of your career. If, however, you plan on getting ahead and moving up in your
career field, then working from home could be a problem (Turcotte). Home employment is sometimes not taken seriously by prospective
employers, and it can be viewed as a gap in the resume (Provenzano). One of the main reasons people tend to work onsite is because they love
doing it with the goal of getting promoted, so they can climb the corporate ladder. If you are a freelancer or if you work from home, you might
lose sight of these opportunities (Wall). If you do freelance work, that means you are more of an independent contractor than a regular employee.
Sometimes people with home employment are often looked at as if they don't do real work (Park). A large majority of the people working at home
do not really feel like professionals despite the size of the work load or opportunities. The main factor here is that, when you're at home, you feel at

With the use of technology increasing substantially as well as with the new generation who relies on such technology, telework has become the future
of work. Companies embrace and adopt telecommunicating practices, as the benefits are clear. For this reason, telework was chosen as a project to be
implemented in the business in order to gain profit and in turn reduce turnover. Berkeley College conducted a comprehensive program that analyzed
companies such as AT&T. This study was conducted to discern the percentage of savings that would result from such action. Thus, AT&T initiated

Telecommuting requires little investment compared to the projected return on the project. Though financially it seems that implementing
telecommuting is a positive investment, the Blue Apron company is still relatively small and new compared to other larger companies such as AT&T
who have implemented telework into their company. This means that are certain precautions that the company should take prior to investing. The
recommendations are that in making decisions about which employees will be designated for telework. Companies should review their quality of work
of the employee and their productivity levels. Telework can be said to increase productivity of the employees, but it is possible that if telecommuting
put into place that the quality of the employees' work could begin to suffer. Furthermore, it is imperative to ensure that their positions are appropriate.
For instance, telecommunicating would best serve data processing tasks, bookkeeping, or accounting jobs. For positions within the Blue Apron
company that are more geared towards collaboration and innovation as telecommunicating can lead to isolation in the workplace because it can create a
barrier between teams, one that in the traditional workplace is not present. Also, make sure that smaller start–up companies wait until they have had

The For The Home Office
The Home Office (2013) stated that the definition of racially motivated victimisation is "any incident, including any crime, which is perceived by the
victim or any other person to be motivated by a hostility or prejudice, based on a person's race or perceived race". The definition of race has been
widely contested by different academics such as Omi and Winant (1986) who developed the Racial Formation theory, a theory that claimed thatrace is
something that is fluid, where "the racial order is organized and enforced by the continuity and reciprocity between micro–level and macro–level of
social relations" (p.67), which suggest that race is determined by how we interact with others and the social structures and common ideologies of a
society (p.66–67). Whilst anthropologists follow a different discourse of race, which suggest that race is a static and unchanging concept based purely
on physical and genetic criteria (Cartmill, 1998). Specific races have historically experienced racially motivated crimes and prejudice, such as Jews and
Black people. In addition, the term immigration can be seen as a coded word for race/racism due to the racialization of immigrants (Morosanu et al,
2012), the impact of immigration and the negative stereotype will be discussed in this essay to achieve an understanding of the origin of racially
motivated victimisation. Furthermore, this essay will evaluate the nature and extent of racially motivated victimisation by discussing the various ways

The New Virtual Office Environment
Introduction Often time people find themselves working at odd hours of the day or night in order to connect with their teams around the globe.
Meetings and conference calls are a necessity to conduct business and expand operations; however, in order to meet this need more and more
employees are working virtually. Conference calls are conducted from home, airports, and automobiles. On–line meetings can be held using
applications such as Microsoft Lync that have audio and video capabilities. Screen sharing will enable everyone to view and discuss documents and
presentations from anywhere and in real time. This not only applies to the CEO of a corporation or a partner in a firm. From the employee working at
any level in the corporate structure to the entrepreneur to the small business owner use today's technology to conduct business at the best time and place
for themselves and their teams. This is the new virtual office environment.
In the beginning.... The buzz word in 1999 was Y2K. Everyone was concerned that computers would cease to work and the world would come

Time Name| Han Jet| ID| 150103| E–Mail| han.jet@pine.edu.my| Lecturer| Mrs.Stephy| List of Articles| 3| R emote workers appear to finally be getting some respect from their in–office peers, new research finds. While there has long been a perception that employees who work from home don't work as hard as those in an office, perceptions are shifting, according to a study from Dell and Intel. More than half of employees globally now believe that their peers who work from home are just as productive, or more productive, than those in the office. Remote employees also feel like they get more done from the comfort of their own home. Of those who spend any time working from home, half believe they are more productive there than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The research shows that the average employee spends at least some time each week working from home. While employees spend an average of 32 hours each week working from their office, they also spend an average of 5 hours working from home each week. Distractions are just as much of a problem for office workers as they are for at–home employees. While more than three–quarters of office–based employees said they feel they work best in an office at their desk, 48 percent indicated that they are frequently interrupted by colleagues. The study also showed that the office doesn't seem to aid in increasing interpersonal communications either, with 51 percent of employees still frequently instant messaging or emailing colleagues who are located physically near them, rather than talking with them directly. Besides those who work from home during the day, the majority of employees are also spending some time after–hours working from home. Nearly 65 percent of employees globally conduct at least some business at home after business hours. Genevieve Bell, U.S. director of user experience for Intel Corp., said there is far more blurring of the lines between working in an office and at home than ever before. "If you're in the knowledge work business, you work in the tech field or in the creative and arts field, I think it's safe to say that there's been a great more blurring of work," Bell said. "It no longer just happens in the office – it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Telecommuting Suggestion Report The first course of action this tech firm should take is to create a productivity report to analyze the current state of the company's workforce. It was mentioned that the organization already has fifty employees telecommuting. However, the head executives have yet to make a formalized plan. This was a large oversight that could have potentially caused a lot of tension between the two groups of employees. Although guidelines should have been created before telecommuting began, it will help show any differences between the two groups in the productivity report. A suggestion for how the report should be created and implemented would be to weigh whatever task is most important for each job and compare the performance between onsite and telecommuting staff members. Having this information will help determine if the company should even allowing working off site all together. Unfortunately, the prompt did not specify how well telecommuting had been working for the firm before asking for suggestions. Hypothetically we will say that the percentage of productivity for off site workers was equally as high as on site. A company would have a difficult time if everyone telecommutes, however, it would be wise to allow some flexibility in work schedules. The tech firm could include temporary off site work as well. For example, allowing an employee with a cold to work at home or if a deadline is pressing and a staff member works better at home. If the company executives decide to allow a ... • 3. Telecommuting Position Paper Recently, there has been a growing request for options to telework/telecommute within various departments at the St. Anthony Foundation. I recommend the Human Resource department adopt a policy that will include processes for eligibility, task reporting, and managerial oversight for telecommuting employees. The organization recognizes having more flexibility in work schedules will alleviate some work and family conflict, and hopes telecommuting will be a benefit for the employees (Pynes, 2014). Having a formal policy on teleworking/telecommuting will minimize any misuse of this benefit and will ensure all requests are fairly considered. Telecommuting for our agency will be defined as an employee working away from the office for one or more... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since telecommuters could miss out on developmental activities such as interpersonal networking, informational learning, and mentoring, there will need to be a limit to the frequency of telecommuting (Cooper & Kurland, 2002). Limiting telecommuting to one day per week will prevent employees from becoming isolated with the organization (Cooper & Kurland, 2002). Requesting more than one day per week will require additional evaluation. Employees will complete a standardized form to be submitted to their supervisor. This form will include an agenda outlining their tasks and intended outcomes for their telecommute day. Additionally, supervisors will provide feedback on the agenda and require the employee to complete and submit a telecommute diary when returning to work (Cooper & Kurland, 2002). Limiting the frequency of telecommuting and keeping detailed records of off–site activities will keep the use of the policy fair, objective, and hold all employees accountable for their ... • 4. Home Office's Annual Staff Survey Introduction This report is conducted to analyze data of latest Home Office's annual staff survey and define the key areas of concern and success. The staff survey was taken this year and cover overall level of satisfaction and engagement among employees. The report will be presented at the next meeting of the Home Office's senior management board scheduled on 14th of December 2014. Overview of overall level of engagement The degree of engagement among staff of UK Home Office is close to 50%. It remains in the same position as in the previous year. However, the difference even between benchmark according to Civil Service survey is 9% not in a favor of the Home Office, the difference with top quarter of survey is 13%. According to Table... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instant, the team and fair treatment have approximately no influence on the overall engagement level. Although, even work and line management has performed higher than 60% that is a point of congratulation in comparison with other drivers, the strongest one, leadership and managing change, is remaining in the same position. In order to compare the strength of different drivers, there is 73% of the staff that satisfied with their team and only 30% positive answer with leadership style in the organization. By the fact, that leadership has the strongest impact of the engagement level, the changes in it would be crucial for it, unlike the job satisfaction with the team. • 5. Should Telecommuting Be Encouraged For Society? 'Telecommuting' refers to workers doing their jobs from home for part of each week and communicating with their office using computer technology. Telecommuting is growing in many countries and is expected to be common for most office workers in the coming decades. How do you think society will be affected by the growth of telecommuting? Should telecommuting be encouraged for society? (Telecommuting is the use of computers and telephones to enable an employee to work off–site and outside the traditional workplace) A topic which has created much controversy is whether telecommuting should be encouraged or not. This issue is very crucial since it influences several aspects in people lives, both in positive and negative ways. This essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, as Desrochers claims, work–family blurring can be minimized by keeping a consistent schedule through boundary activities such as discouraging family members from disrupting one's work and working only in a particular room of the home (2003:5). In addition, telecommuting provides flexible work hours, which allows telecommuters to spend more time at home with their families so as to strengthen emotional ties within them. Therefore, as Raines and Leathers explain "telecommuters perceive the consequences of the alternative workplace to be an improved quality of home"(2001:2). Many people contend that telecommuting might pose telecommuters to problems of reduced health. Lack of mobility in doing their work and "alienation from workplace dynamics" are claimed as contributing factor of stress which may result in stress related illness for telecommuters (Raines and Leathers, 2001:3). However, there is growing evidence that telecommuting brings significant safety and health benefits. As Johnson states, less commuting frequency in telecommuting diminishes risk of "traffic related injuries" (1998:1). This also leads to a decrease in pollution rate which will be followed by reduction in the risk of pollution related illness such as respiratory infection. Moreover, work schedule flexibility in telecommuting allows workers to have more time for "personal growth activities" (see www.csus.edu/indiv.v/velianitis/101) such as sport ... I had been for quite some time using an eyeliner jug, which I loved, but at the same time, hated how long it took to apply the liner. These days I 'm more about fast, simple, and effective. When I came across Revlon Bedroom Eyes Powder Liner, Fishnet Jet 660, at my local Rite Aide, I was immediately intrigued. A liner that goes on in a powdered form, yet is applied in the same manner that a wet liner would be applied. Revlon Bedroom Eyes Powder Liner, Fishnet Jet 660, comes in what appears to be a liquid eyeliner type container. At the bottom there is a small pot, where a screw on cap reveals the actual application wand. I seriously had no idea what to expect, and the in store advertisement was vague, and showed bland color results on the color menu which was located right below the rack of liners. I went with Fishnet Jet, because on the advertising it appeared to be the darkest color; yet it also looked as if it had some sort of navy tint going on. The word NEW stood out, and I couldn 't resist it. I went ahead and made the purchase. I hoped it worked well, because honestly $9.95 for such a small container is a bit much in my opinion. Home Office Abstract A day at the office no longer means long commutes, dressing in a suit and tie or a dress, and performing work according to a 9 to 5 schedule with the boss looking over your shoulder. With the Industrial Revolution came change in how and where people work. The changes were seen subtly at first; people slowly moved to the cities to find work in factories, but then the changes started becoming more noticeable. People flocked to the cities because that is where a person could find work. The days of the small farmer who grew food for his own family were gone. Big corporations moved in and people were hired in by the hundreds, usually to perform meaningless, dreary, work. Modern society is seeing a new kind of Industrial Revolution... Other reasons for why it is better to work in an office is because you get feedback and answers very fast and because there is not as many interruptions like at home with family. Modern society has increased the work load of the family, thereby increasing tension in marriages and taking away time for leisure and recreation for both spouses. Because this movement back into the home is relatively new and because of its current relatively small size, it is difficult for social scientists to get large enough samples to make judgments about the characteristics of home work (Kraut 1989). Home work is seen in the current literature in both highly optimistic and strongly negative terms, and the size of the work at home population has been described as "less than 2 percent of the U.S. labor force" (Shamir 1992, p. 280) and "nearly one quarter of the labor force" (Farmanfarmaian 1989, p. 37). These contradictions are due to both the size of this group of workers, as mentioned earlier, and a lack of agreement between researchers on a definition of the home worker (for example, how many hours of work at home per week, working out of the home vs. working at home, etc.). Robert Kraut (1989) groups home workers into 3 categories: substitutors, the self–employed, and supplementers. The For The Home Office The Home Office (2013) stated that the definition of racially motivated victimisation is "any incident, including any crime, which is perceived by the victim or any other person to be motivated by a hostility or prejudice, based on a person's race or perceived race". The definition of race has been widely contested by different academics such as Omi and Winant (1986) who developed the Racial Formation theory, a theory that claimed thatrace is something that is fluid, where "the racial order is organized and enforced by the continuity and reciprocity between micro–level and macro–level of social relations" (p.67), which suggest that race is determined by how we interact with others and the social structures and common ideologies of a society (p.66–67). Whilst anthropologists follow a different discourse of race, which suggest that race is a static and unchanging concept based purely on physical and genetic criteria (Cartmill, 1998). Specific races have historically experienced racially motivated crimes and prejudice, such as Jews and Black people. In addition, the term immigration can be seen as a coded word for race/racism due to the racialization of immigrants (Morosanu et al, 2012), the impact of immigration and the negative stereotype will be discussed in this essay to achieve an understanding of the origin of racially motivated victimisation.
