The Discovery Of The Project
The story of the project began in 1992, when Tate foundation started to look for a new place created to exhibit and store modern art, while Tate didn 't
had enough space for all exhibitions.
Tate didn 't have a possibility to fulfill the repository of British art with repositary of international modern art in the gallery in Millbank– Tate Britain.
The goal was to match the Centre Pompidou in Paris and Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Historically Tate Modern was a Bankside Power station, a coal–fired electricity plant from 1895 and oil–fired station from 1952.
In 1994, Tate foundation found the place– abandoned in 1981 Bankside station, which was closed from due to big oil prices and economical changes.
There was plans to demolish the buidling, in 1992
In July 1994 Tate foundation launched an international competition to design modern art museum in former Bankside station site.
148 architecture practices took part in that competition.Six practices were choosen to the shortlist. The list is:
–OMA
–David Chipperfield architects
–Renzo Piano building workshop
–Tadao AndoArchitect and Associates
–Herzog and de Meuron
–Jose Rafael Moneo Arquitecto
Next year, in January 1995 , Herzog and de Meuron became winners of the competition.
Jury were interested and impressed by proposal simplicity.
Architect and competition.

Case Study: The Mental Diseases Of Charles Manson
The Mental Diseases of Charles Manson
When people hear the name Charles Manson, people automatically think of the string of horrible murders this man was involved in during the
summer of 1969. Charles Manson is infamous for creating "the Manson Family" and sought to create a war between races with his followers. The
book Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi, the main prosecutor in the Manson trial, chronicled the murders carried out by Manson and his followers, the
trial following the murders, as well as the psychological diseases that may affect Manson as a person. Manson is responsible for several murders,
including that of the pregnant Sharon Tate and Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. While Manson never took part in the physical murders, he was ... Show

He believed that waging a war between races was the right thing to do. Any sane person would be able to tell that waging war is wrong in this aspect.
However, due to the Anti–social Personality Disorder, Charles Manson was unable to see the error in his ways. Also, those with Anti–social Personality
Disorder then to exploit those around them. In the case of Manson, he manipulated his followers into committing murder for him by using religion. This
trait could also be connected to the superiority complex that is often found in those with Anti–social Personality Disorder. Those with this disorder may
consider themselves superior to those around them. This was evident in Manson as he claimed to be both the reincarnation of Jesus Christ and Satan.
This sense of superiority over his followers allowed Manson to manipulate them as he saw fit and continuously fueled his delusions of grandeur.
Manson fit other symptoms that fit this disease as well. Manson undoubtedly has Anti–social Personality Disorder.

Jim Jones And Charles Manson Persuasion
Cults
Two of America's most famous cult leaders are Jim Jones and Charles Manson, they are powerful leaders that drove their followers to commit insanely
violent, and crazy acts. Today, many people wonder what gave those men such power to influence their followers to commit crimes.
Jim Jones, for example, was a visionary and he used religion to influence his followers to join his "community". Jones persuasion was highly successful
among the homeless, dispossessed, lonely, and lower–middle–class. These individuals were drawn in large numbers to the Peoples Temple. Using
reams of personal documents and types of propaganda to recruit more people to Jonestown. Jonestown gave them fellowship, a dream of social
justice, social services clinics for free health care, drug rehabs, legal aid, and a sense of purpose. Jones followers gave him all their worldly
possessions, money, and all the power he needed even though he was just as average as his followers. Jones didn't start out as this powerful leader
he came to be , he was born into a bitterly unhappy home in Crete, Indiana. "Jones himself was also a drug addict, a sexual predator among both
sexes, and somehow he accomplished to fake to a large amount of people that he was against everything that he was still doing in secret" (George
Russell). Jim eventually found his place as a member of a small Christian church in his home town. Jones said he joined the religion because he never
felt accepted, and he was drawn to fellow outcasts. He soon acquired a gift for charismatic preaching and took it to neighborhoods that were populated
primarily by African American in the 1950s. It was in these neighborhoods where he preached racial inclusion and gathered a mixed–race congregation.
This did not sit well with many people in this era before the civil rights movement, and it added to his progressive reputation. He became head of the
Indianapolis Human Rights Commission, which is a large reason he would recruit different ethnicities to join his temple. Jones also in order to get
more members used informers in his audiences to get information out of the unsuspecting faithful that he could reveal as evidence of clairvoyant
powers, and he hired fake invalids who would rise from

The Causes Of Charles Manson
When cults come to mind people think of the Manson family and heaven's gate. Before we learn about how cults, clans and communities pertain to
sociology we first must understand how they work, what they did and how people joined these groups.
The Manson family was a cult in 1960 that where mostly not violent. But in 1969 was when eh Manson family started their killing spree. Manson
thought that the apocalypse was going to happen in the form of a race war. (Webb, S. (2017, June 23). Who isCharles Manson? American mass

On August 6, 1969, a megalomaniac named Charles Manson ordered his "Family" to kill everyone in a house that used to be owned by a well known
music recorder named Terry Melcher. However, Malcher was not occupying the house but instead the house was occupied by a renowned movie
producer, Roman Polanski, and his wife, actress Sharon Tate. On that date, Manson's family perpetrated one of the most gruesome crime in
Hollywood's history by stabbing to death Sharon Tate and her friends. The case that ensued after themurder became one of the most publicised murder
trial in the history of crime.
In order to really understand why this crime took place, we first need to explore Charles Manson's and his "Family's" history. Charles Manson had a
troubled background. He was born on November 12, 1934 to Kathleen Maddox. Kathleen Maddox was 16 years old when she had Charles. Charles
biological father was Colonel Walker Scott. His father was not around him because his mother was not married to him and had promiscuous sex with
Scott. Charles started stealing and committing crimes at the age of 12. He has been detained in different juvenile facilities throughout the nation. He

be annihilated. He planned that when the apocalypse was over, he will come out of hiding and will become the leader of the country. In order to
expedite the process of the apocalypse, Manson had planned to kill famous white celebrities and blame the African American population for the
murder. He firmly believed that there will be retaliation and the war will

Other Contexts of Neglect and Abuse Manson's grandparents. When Kathy Maddox was arrested and imprisoned in 1940 for an armed robbery, 6–year
old Manson was sent to live with his grandparents who were perceived as overly obsessive religious fanatics. According to Hickey (2003),
Manson's grandmother dominated the household with both a stern and unwavering interpretation of what she believed to be "God's plan and some
of her strictly religious practices included intense prayer sessions both before and after meals, as well as at bedtime. There was no drinking,
smoking, or swearing allowed, and Manson was told to turn the other cheek to any violent or aggressive act initiated by some of the other kids at
school. His grandmother also demanded that everyone living in her house must abide by her rules or else suffer the consequences, and this included
her own husband as well. As Hickey (2003) explains, Manson "never witnessed any display of affection between his grandparents. His grandfather was

Adler's theory of individual personality doesn't necessarily account for individuals with two unique sides personality, which is evident throughout the
context and background of his life. On one hand, he was a magnetic and loving person that drew in others with his intelligence and self–proclaimed
talent. On the other hand, the persona he presented to others was not his true self. Deep within the depths of Manson's charming personality hides a
villain, a manipulator, a criminal, and a murderer. In addition to the many lies that he has told about both himself and his life, as well as the
manipulative behavior he displays, it's exceptionally hard to decipher what is fact and what is just simply untrue, making the application of any
psychological theory nearly impossible. However, Adlerian theory does provide a probable explanation for why Manson turned out the way he

GLOBALIZATION
Globalization is a process in which barriers (physical, political, economic, cultural) separating different regions of the world are reduced or removed
(removal of barriers is called liberalization), thereby stimulating exchanges in goods, services, money, and people. As these exchanges grow, nations
and the businesses involved, become increasingly integrated and interdependent, promoting mutual reliance between countries. вЃµ
Globalization is not a new idea at all. Many intellectuals including most social scientists agree of its deep origin by referring to it as a "phenomenon of
long term historical process..." вЃ¶
Jagdish Bhagwati, a renowned economist from Columbia University and author of "In Defense of Globalization", at his speech at IMF Economic
Forum in 2004 "argued that when properly governed, globalization is in fact the most powerful force for social good in the world today." вЃ·
VARIOUS DIMENSIONS OF GLOBALIZATION
Following are the various dimensions of globalization as described by the European Network of Economic Policy Research Institutes (ENEPRI): вЃ·
1) The internationalisation of national economic spaces through growing penetration (inward flows) and extraversion (outward flows).
Example: The rise of China alone accounts for a lot in the globalization story. In 2003, China's economy accounted for 55% of Asia's export.

Dennis Ashwell's Life In Vietnam
It was the summer of Vietnam, The Grateful Dead, and free love. Nothing made sense, and the cultural landscape around the world was smashed
into pieces. It was a world in flux, a world awash in a tsunami of what was and what could be. In June of 1697 dissatisfaction reached a head
ushering in a new era of rambunctious youth that had enough of the status quo. Dennis Ashwell was no different despite his background. He hailed
from a penthouse in New York overlooking Central Park. He went to good schools and got good grades. He went to cocktail parties hosted by his
mother in swanky hotels, and hobnobbed with his father at political events, fully realizing he served as a shining beacon of how young adults should

He had no car, $102, and a backpack of clothes and books. He took buses until he ran out of money somewhere between Arkansas and Texas. Then
he went on route 66 and jutted out his thumb. He met his fair share of creeps and weirdos, but the majority were friendly and his journey
uneventful. His one mistake was falling asleep in the back of a lumber pickup truck and winding up in Mendocino Beach, 200 miles away from
where he wanted to go. Lumbering back onto the highway he stuck out his thumb once again and waited. He waited until one night a large VW bus
slowed down. The bus was large, almost like a truck, and was painted a cacophony of bright colors. Out of the bus appeared a short man with crazy
hair and battered clothing – his eyes wild and his jaw clenching and unclenching. As the man got closer Dennis could smell a heavy mix of

Essay on Biography of Charles Manson
Charles Manson was the leader and founder of the cult the Manson Family or The Family, a group of people well known for being serial killers in the
late 1960's. It was believed that they were associated with cult–quasi–religious groups, that came about in the 1960's and they are still here today. They
believe they know what the future of the planet is, when it will end, and how. In a biography of Charles Manson and the Manson Family it said this,
"In August 1969 a series of Hollywood murders were to shock the world and tarnish the 60's free love and peace legacy."(Biography Channel 2013.)

his mother once traded him for a pitcher of beer to a woman that couldn't have children. His uncle had to go track down the women to get him back.
Charles spent time in a boy's school then on the streets doing petty crimes to survive. By 1952 Manson had spent more time in prison than he had

constantly striving for status and securing some kind of love. Other descriptions included dangerous, unpredictable, and safe only under

accurately displays most historical facts, including an in depth explanation of what Charlie led the Family to believe; killing was a form of love,

Most Dangerous Cult Research Paper
Did you know that America is home to come of the most dangerous cults in history? Cults began in America as early as the 1930s, and they still exist
today! By definition, "a cult is any group which employs mind control and deceptive recruiting techniques" (How Cults Work). Although people may
know what a cult it, they may not know how potentially dangerous a cult is.
Cults can be evil and mind controlling. They can also be extremely dangerous. According to Rick Ross, an expert consultant and intervention
specialist, "there are several signs of a potentially unsafe group or leader." These signs include: "absolute authoritarianism without meaningful
accountability; there is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil; followers can never be
good enough; and the group or leader is the exclusive means of knowing the truth or receiving validation, no other process or discovery is really

Essay on The Manson Family
The word "Cult" has not always had such a negative connotation attached to it. Many religions would've been considered cults when they first began.
By the end of the 19th century many visionaries had revealed radically new religious systems, claiming immunity to the impurities of the old ones
(Powers, 1997). These were no more than a group of people organizing themselves in worship and devotion for a person, object, or movement. They
practiced rituals different to other "mainstream" religions, and were therefore considered cults. Nowadays when people hear the word "Cult" they
immediately think of brainwashing, bombings, murders, and people who have turned away from our society. This is primarily because of what has

While individual cultic groups may vary in discipline (political, religious, social/philosophical), they often operate with a similar premise: the world
is bad, we are good, become a part of us (Salande & Perkins, 2011). Viewing the world in this way is not, in and of itself, destructive; and many
mainstream religious and political movements embrace similar philosophies (2011). However, cult leaders often reinforce these ideas in frightening
ways. By making their members use hallucinogens, sleep deprivation, group sex, strict prayer rituals, and deprogramming. Deprogrammers usually
used "facts" about their religious group to shake up the person's faith, this confrontation would often transpire in intense, emotionally charged
situations (Donald & Robbins, 1982). The point of this was to rid the cult member of their ego, and past beliefs. The goal was for the member to have
a blank slate, they could then me made to believe whatever the cult leader wanted them to. Charles Manson had a way of picking up on people's
weaknesses and fears, and used it against them. He preyed on vulnerability and, as Linda James said, he offered them wealth and perfect relationships
(Fennel, 1993). And, although his claims were extraordinary, he was able to attract a good amount of followers.
Charles Manson said his philosophy was all about

they asked "How high?", and if Manson said "Kill," they asked "How many?" Additionally, a later recruited member, Linda Kasabian, would end up
as the lookout for the gruesome murders carried out by her "brothers" and "sisters" (2). However, initially Linda had no clue what she signed herself
up for, assuming that the Spahn Ranch was merely just a place to live, to do drugs, and to hook up with men; nonetheless, she soon got her
eye–opening view of the real Manson Family. All

Rosemary's Argumentative Essay: The Art Of Hunting
A 43 year old New York woman named Rosemary Billquist was shot dead with a pistol by a hunter who thought she was a deer. Rosemary was
killed when she took her dogs for a walk in her home town near the Pennsylvania border around 5:30 on Wednesday. As police investigate they say
that Rosemary was walking in a field when a man hunting nearby mistook her for a deer and shot her once with a pistol. The hunter heard her scream,
called 911 and stayed by the girl's side until emergency crews arrived. She was then taken to a hospital where she was then pronounced dead. Officials
said the shooting occurred about forty minutes after sunset, when it is illegal to hunt. Police said the hunter had not been charged and the investigation
was continuing.

Research Paper On Why Leslie Van Houten Deserve To Walk Free
Why Leslie Van Houten deserves to walk free.
Picture this...You're nineteen years old with nowhere to call home, your mothers left you traumatised and permanently scarred. You're alone in the big
bad world. Fragile, vulnerable and powerless. Does any teenager really have life's answers? Or are they aimlessly searching for them from
somewhere or someone else? Cast yourself back to when you were nineteen, if someone had entered your life offering all the answers, don't tell me you
would've turned them away. Leslie Van Houtenwas just nineteen years old when she fell under infamous cult leader Charles Manson's spell. She
thought he could give her the answers everyone so desperately seeks at that tender age. A year after joining the 'Manson Family' Van Houten was
involved in the 1969 murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. Under Manson's orders Van Houten stabbed Rosemary approximately 16 times. She
was found guilty of murder and is now serving life in prison. In September 2017 Van Houten was granted parole. She now faces a
one–hundred–and–twenty–day review period. At the end, it will be decided whether or not she is fit for release. I believe that Leslie should walk free
and be allowed a second chance at life.
Leslie Van Houten's upbringing was extremely influential in her crimes. I'm sure you'll agree your childhood also largely impacted your future. While
in high school Leslie was forced into using drugs. Drug usage at an early age can cause severe mental defects as the

Description Of Ophelia Essay
Description of Ophelia
Ophelia is piece of art that was painted by Sir John Everett Millais. It was painted in the Tate Britain and completed in 1852 (Lewis par. 2). The
painting shows a fictional actor from Shakespeare's theatre piece the Hamlet. William Shakespeare's work was a great inspiration for Sir John Everett
(Lewis par. 2). The fictional character is called Ophelia. This painting by Sir John has since been celebrated for its uniqueness and attention to detail
particularly nature. Ophelia has a value of ВЈ30 million.
John Everett Millais and his colleagues were famously known for painting items sourced from the modern world and literature while at the same time
utilizing traditional attires. These artists carried out their work directly from nature. Their role model was John Ruskin who inspired artists to go to
nature and work wholeheartedly. John Everett Millais and his colleagues used pure color and defined structures. They focused primarily on the truth
and reality.

The painting Ophelia is based on William Shakespeare's play the Helmet. The play was characterized with passion, conflicts and power. One of the
characters, Claudius, feels envy towards his brother who is the ruler of Denmark. Other characters are Ophelia and Hamlet who are in love each other.
Then Hamlet develops a great desire to avenge his father while Ophelia feels that she is responsible for Hamlet's problems. Ophelia decides to commit

Research Paper On Charles Manson Family Cult
Charles Manson, who died on November 19, 2017 aged 83, was the leader of the Manson Family cult, located in Los Angeles, California in the late
1960's.
This was a non– religious cult but had some beliefs within scientology and satanism. Charles Manson believed that there was to be a race war in
America in the near future and that the African Americans would win, but then look to the Whites for guidance. This then lead Manson and his one
hundred plus followers, mostly young women, to attempt to instigate this war so that they could be prepared and hide away until the African
Americans won, and then the "family" would be the ones the African Americans would turn to for leadership (The 10 Most Famous Cults, 2017).

Charles Manson Accomplishments
"Charles Manson was an illegitimate, unplanned child, born to a 16–year–old mother. His mother was irresponsible, into drugs and criminal activity,
and unable to care for a child. She reportedly sold him when he was a young child for a pitcher of beer" (Henderson). Sounds like an amazing
childhood, right. Wrong. Charles Manson was bounced around from house to house, and because of that, his childhood was not that great. Because of
his nerve wrecking childhood, Manson was bound to be a criminal. As the years went by and time took its course, Manson decided that he wanted to
take a new turn in life and become a star.

Manson was soon introduced. Now, Manson had already spent 12 years of his life in prison (Jolly). "His offenses ranged from pimping and the theft

his stay at the Wilson home. They soon found out that both of them had a passion for music. Once Wilson and Manson started discussing about their

me they too had a guru, a guy named Charlie who'd recently come out of jail after 12 years. He drifted into crime, but when I met him, I found he had
great musical ideas. We are writing together now. He's dumb, in some ways, but I accept his approach and have learnt from him" (Jolly). After some
collaboration and some song writing, Wilson then put Manson in contact with a man named Terry Melcher

Feminism And Institutional Critique: The Tate Modern Museum
Introduction The museum in modern society is no longer a place for an unchallenged authority to civilize the barbaric masses, but instead a place
fraught with conflicting views. Numerous artists and activists' groups are performing critiques on museums for the ways they are still upholding
anachronistic ideals and remain hegemonic, privileged, and patriarchal intuitions in society. This paper will be looking at these issues through the lens
of Feminist critique and Institutional critique. This paper will analyse how Feminist art is de–contextualized and commercialized for use in museum
spaces eliminating much of its radical meaning, and the limited successes and the failures of Instructional critique. This paper argues that while both
Feminist and Institutional critiques are de–radicalized by being held within institutions, the critically specific and activist nature of feminist critique
allows it to retain more power than Institutional critique. Feminist and Institutional critique will be contextualized by a case study in The Tate Modern
museum, specifically the "Media Networks" gallery. The Tate Modern The Tate Modern stands proud and impressive on London's Southbank. The

The Family consisted mainly of Susan Atkins, Leslie Van Houten, Patricia Krenwinkel,Charles "Tex" Watson, Bobby Beausoleil, Mary Brunner, and

the uprising of a racial war between the blacks and the whites. Manson would facilitate this war by killing the whites and implicating the
African–American community with various acts. (crimemuseum.org) Charles Manson's first killing involved Gary Hinman, he was a very close
friend of Charles Manson and allowed Manson and members of the family to stay at his house instead of staying at the Spahn Ranch. During this
time Manson was having trouble with money with a guy named Crowe. Manson shot Crowe under the impression that he was part of the Blank

Cult activity has been on the rise over the past few decades. With it there has been an increase in the fear surrounding it. From this fear, society has

It was in February of 1970 that the motive of these murders was discovered (Bugliosi, 1974, 283). Through police investigation, it was discovered that
the murders were cult related. Charles Manson and members of his cult, known as "The Family," were to blame. Manson and family lived on a ranch
in California. Manson was an avid fan of The Beatles and believed that this rock band spoke to him though their lyrics. He particularly liked The
Beatles' White Album which included the song "Helter Skelter." Manson interpreted this song's lyrics as a prophecy of a race war that would take
place between the blacks and the whites. In this war, he believed the black man would rise up and slaughter all of the whites. So Manson's plan was
to take his family out into the desert and hide in a bottomless pit until the war was over. After the war, he believed the blacks would realize all they
ever knew was taught to them by the white man, and if they wanted to survive, they would need a white person to tell them what to do. That is when
Manson and his Family would surface from the bottomless pit, and be the rulers of the world as the master race (Bugliosi, 1974, 284–290).
The only problem with Manson's prophecy was that Helter Skelter never came. So he sent Family members out to kill Sharon Tate and friends and
instructed them to make it appear as if the blacks

King Lear Masculinity Analysis
King Richard II and King Lear: Lacking the Title of Masculinity King Richard II and King Lear both illustrate the various forms of how royalty can
stray away from the order they are thought to portray. While both kings do hold the vast title that grants them ultimate power, both kings use this
power to express a lack of masculinity. Although the loss of title is performed at two different parts in each play, King Richard II and King Lear
represent the lack of masculinity within their royal position through their strong emotional drive and narcissistic tendencies that are expressed through
moments of emotional polarization. Likewise, King Richard II (Richard) and King Lear (Lear) represent their lack of masculinity in two different
forms, one form of hyper–masculinity and one of vulnerability, during the realization of losing their crown. It is often discussed that Richard and
Lear can be viewed under the same lens as they tend to perform with narcissism and emotional drive while under pressure. This character
comparison can be examined while they are unable to portray correct forms of masculinity, therefore lacking masculinity, in one of the most
masculine positions in the world. This theme can be explored within Richard and Lear while they confess to losing their power. For example, Act 4
scene 1 in Richard II is an accurate demonstration of Richard's lack of masculinity due to the illustration of his narcissism, emotional drive, and his
vulnerability. In 4.1, Richard addresses the loss of his crown to Bolingbroke for numerous lines. He does not fully surrender the title of the crown
until he concludes expressing his emotional baggage of despair and grievance. This long continuation is important to note as it can be argued as an
example of Richard's narcissism. This narcissism is a subset of Richard's lack of masculinity, since narcissism entails his self concerns rather than his
concerns with his royal position. Furthermore, Richard's lack of masculinity is expressed after shattering the mirror, stating, "A brittle glory shineth in
this face... / ...How soon my sorrow hath destroyed my face" (4.1.A133, 4.1.A137). The drama and emotional value that is enhanced in these lines
reveal Richard's vulnerability that

Substance abuse can substantially increase violence and hallucinations. Bad hallucinations not only include false seeings, but also false hearing,

Essay On Love Bombing
Cults manipulate their impressionable members by giving them a polarized view of the world making them think that their group is good and anything
from the outside of it is bad. Leaders often exploit the feelings of the people affiliated with them using techniques designed to stimulate emotions in
order to influence a response or action. Cults demand an undying loyalty those who wish to leave or double–cross them are completely cut off and
shunned, in severe situations they are punished with violence and threats. Their main tactics to keep people under their control are using fear and
intimidation against them, feeding them lies, and maintaining facades to hide the true colors of their union. When threatened with sexual, emotional,

and a visitor to the house were all shot or stabbed that night, and found the next morning. The brutal murders were committed by the infamous "Manson
Family," a cult led by none other than Charles Manson. Manson has been the inspiration for many pop culture references, appearing on American
Horror Story: Cult, the comedy film Manson Family Vacation, and Quentin Tarantino's upcoming project, reportedly about the Tatemurder in 1969.
Manson himself, as well as the members of his 'family,' were given the death penalty in 1971. However,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This amendment covers "cruel and unusual punishment," which many people argue the death penalty is. The wording of the amendment states that
"excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted" (Amendment VIII, U.S. Constitution).
The aforementioned loophole in this amendment, however, is that it does not specifically define what punishments are, or are not, 'cruel and unusual.'
Briefly, in the 1970s, the Supreme Court ruled that "the death penalty in most states was unlawful because it was being imposed in a discriminatory
fashion. After this ruling, states had to change their death penalty procedures to satisfy the Court that they impose the death penalty fairly" (Gale
Student Resources in Context). The ruling was revoked later, however, and death penalties have been handed out since then. There are 19 states that
have abolished the death penalty within their own state, which areincluding Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland,
Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and

Case Study: The Mental Diseases Of Charles Manson The Mental Diseases of Charles Manson When people hear the name Charles Manson, people automatically think of the string of horrible murders this man was involved in during the summer of 1969. Charles Manson is infamous for creating "the Manson Family" and sought to create a war between races with his followers. The book Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi, the main prosecutor in the Manson trial, chronicled the murders carried out by Manson and his followers, the trial following the murders, as well as the psychological diseases that may affect Manson as a person. • 5. Jim Jones And Charles Manson Persuasion Cults Two of America's most famous cult leaders are Jim Jones and Charles Manson, they are powerful leaders that drove their followers to commit insanely violent, and crazy acts. Today, many people wonder what gave those men such power to influence their followers to commit crimes. Jim Jones, for example, was a visionary and he used religion to influence his followers to join his "community". Jones persuasion was highly successful among the homeless, dispossessed, lonely, and lower–middle–class. These individuals were drawn in large numbers to the Peoples Temple. Using reams of personal documents and types of propaganda to recruit more people to Jonestown. Jonestown gave them fellowship, a dream of social justice, social services clinics for free health care, drug rehabs, legal aid, and a sense of purpose. Jones followers gave him all their worldly possessions, money, and all the power he needed even though he was just as average as his followers. Jones didn't start out as this powerful leader he came to be , he was born into a bitterly unhappy home in Crete, Indiana. "Jones himself was also a drug addict, a sexual predator among both sexes, and somehow he accomplished to fake to a large amount of people that he was against everything that he was still doing in secret" (George Russell). Jim eventually found his place as a member of a small Christian church in his home town. Jones said he joined the religion because he never felt accepted, and he was drawn to fellow outcasts. He soon acquired a gift for charismatic preaching and took it to neighborhoods that were populated primarily by African American in the 1950s. It was in these neighborhoods where he preached racial inclusion and gathered a mixed–race congregation. This did not sit well with many people in this era before the civil rights movement, and it added to his progressive reputation. He became head of the Indianapolis Human Rights Commission, which is a large reason he would recruit different ethnicities to join his temple. Jones also in order to get more members used informers in his audiences to get information out of the unsuspecting faithful that he could reveal as evidence of clairvoyant powers, and he hired fake invalids who would rise from ... Charles Manson Research Paper On August 6, 1969, a megalomaniac named Charles Manson ordered his "Family" to kill everyone in a house that used to be owned by a well known music recorder named Terry Melcher. However, Malcher was not occupying the house but instead the house was occupied by a renowned movie producer, Roman Polanski, and his wife, actress Sharon Tate. By definition, "a cult is any group which employs mind control and deceptive recruiting techniques" (How Cults Work). Although people may know what a cult it, they may not know how potentially dangerous a cult is. Cults can be evil and mind controlling. They can also be extremely dangerous. According to Rick Ross, an expert consultant and intervention specialist, "there are several signs of a potentially unsafe group or leader." These signs include: "absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability; there is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil; followers can never be good enough; and the group or leader is the exclusive means of knowing the truth or receiving validation, no other process or discovery is really acceptable or credible." • 20. Essay on The Manson Family The word "Cult" has not always had such a negative connotation attached to it. Many religions would've been considered cults when they first began. By the end of the 19th century many visionaries had revealed radically new religious systems, claiming immunity to the impurities of the old ones (Powers, 1997). These were no more than a group of people organizing themselves in worship and devotion for a person, object, or movement. They practiced rituals different to other "mainstream" religions, and were therefore considered cults. Nowadays when people hear the word "Cult" they immediately think of brainwashing, bombings, murders, and people who have turned away from our society. While individual cultic groups may vary in discipline (political, religious, social/philosophical), they often operate with a similar premise: the world is bad, we are good, become a part of us (Salande & Perkins, 2011). Viewing the world in this way is not, in and of itself, destructive; and many mainstream religious and political movements embrace similar philosophies (2011). However, cult leaders often reinforce these ideas in frightening ways. By making their members use hallucinogens, sleep deprivation, group sex, strict prayer rituals, and deprogramming. Deprogrammers usually used "facts" about their religious group to shake up the person's faith, this confrontation would often transpire in intense, emotionally charged situations (Donald & Robbins, 1982). The point of this was to rid the cult member of their ego, and past beliefs. The goal was for the member to have a blank slate, they could then me made to believe whatever the cult leader wanted them to. • 29. Feminism And Institutional Critique: The Tate Modern Museum Introduction The museum in modern society is no longer a place for an unchallenged authority to civilize the barbaric masses, but instead a place fraught with conflicting views. Numerous artists and activists' groups are performing critiques on museums for the ways they are still upholding anachronistic ideals and remain hegemonic, privileged, and patriarchal intuitions in society. This paper will be looking at these issues through the lens of Feminist critique and Institutional critique. This paper will analyse how Feminist art is de–contextualized and commercialized for use in museum spaces eliminating much of its radical meaning, and the limited successes and the failures of Instructional critique. This paper argues that while both Feminist and Institutional critiques are de–radicalized by being held within institutions, the critically specific and activist nature of feminist critique allows it to retain more power than Institutional critique. Feminist and Institutional critique will be contextualized by a case study in The Tate Modern museum, specifically the "Media Networks" gallery. • 34. Charles Manson Essay On the morning of August 9, 1969, three LAPD officers arrived at 10050 Cielo Drive (Bugliosi 7). The scene that awaited them was horrendous. In the driveway, in a parked car, the body of Steven Parent was found. He was shot four times and stabbed once. Laying about eighteen or twenty feet past the front door of the house, Voytek Frykowski had been shot twice, beaten over the head with a blunt object thirteen times, and stabbed fifty–one times. Also discovered on the lawn was coffee heiress Abigail Folger, stabbed twenty–eight times. Inside the home, in the living room, were the bodies of Jay Sebring and Sharon Tate. Sebring, a hair stylist, had been stabbed seven times and shot once, dying of exsanguination. Tate, who was eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 45). The highest level of awareness in Scientology is called "theta clear." Manson claims to have reached theta clear while in prison. He supposedly achieved this through many "auditing sessions," the method that Scientologists use to teach awareness, taught by his cell mate, Lanier Rayner (Bugliosi 195–196). Most likely, he picked up many of his methods of mind control from these sessions, along with ideas such as karma and reincarnation (635). The Process Church of the Final Judgment, labeled a Satanist cult by the media, was founded in 1963 by Robert DeGrimston, a former Scientologist. The basis of this religion was the book of Matthew of the New Testament, and it began as a mixture of Zoroastrianism and Scientology. The name "The Process" refers to the "changes necessary to avoid the end of the world with its associated judgment." Processeans worship Jehovah, Lucifer, and Satan ("Process" par.17). Even though The Process fervently denies thatCharles Manson was ever a member, many ideas from his philosophy parallel Process concepts. Both Manson and The Process taught of a violent and unavoidable Armageddon in which all but the few chosen ones would be destroyed, and both thought that motorcycle gangs would be the "troops of the last days." • 35. The Rise of Cult Activity Essay The Rise of Cult Activity Cult activity has been on the rise over the past few decades. With it there has been an increase in the fear surrounding it. From this fear, society has learned much about cults, how they get members and what to look out for as far as cult recruiters go. Society as a whole has also learned what can be done to deal with cults. Cult activity and the fear that surrounds it Throughout the last couple of decades more and more stories of illegal cult activity or murders by satanic cults appear on the news each night. This surge of reported cult activity has caused a spark in public interest. There has been a large increase in the fear that surrounds cults over the past couple of years. A cult is "a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was in February of 1970 that the motive of these murders was discovered (Bugliosi, 1974, 283). Through police investigation, it was discovered that the murders were cult related. Charles Manson and members of his cult, known as "The Family," were to blame. Manson and family lived on a ranch in California. Manson was an avid fan of The Beatles and believed that this rock band spoke to him though their lyrics. He particularly liked The Beatles' White Album which included the song "Helter Skelter." Manson interpreted this song's lyrics as a prophecy of a race war that would take place between the blacks and the whites. In this war, he believed the black man would rise up and slaughter all of the whites. So Manson's plan was to take his family out into the desert and hide in a bottomless pit until the war was over. After the war, he believed the blacks would realize all they ever knew was taught to them by the white man, and if they wanted to survive, they would need a white person to tell them what to do. That is when Manson and his Family would surface from the bottomless pit, and be the rulers of the world as the master race (Bugliosi, 1974, 284–290). The only problem with Manson's prophecy was that Helter Skelter never came. So he sent Family members out to kill Sharon Tate and friends and instructed them to make it appear as if the blacks ... • 36. King Lear Masculinity Analysis King Richard II and King Lear: Lacking the Title of Masculinity King Richard II and King Lear both illustrate the various forms of how royalty can stray away from the order they are thought to portray. While both kings do hold the vast title that grants them ultimate power, both kings use this power to express a lack of masculinity. Although the loss of title is performed at two different parts in each play, King Richard II and King Lear represent the lack of masculinity within their royal position through their strong emotional drive and narcissistic tendencies that are expressed through moments of emotional polarization. Likewise, King Richard II (Richard) and King Lear (Lear) represent their lack of masculinity in two different forms, one form of hyper–masculinity and one of vulnerability, during the realization of losing their crown. It is often discussed that Richard and Lear can be viewed under the same lens as they tend to perform with narcissism and emotional drive while under pressure. This character comparison can be examined while they are unable to portray correct forms of masculinity, therefore lacking masculinity, in one of the most masculine positions in the world. This theme can be explored within Richard and Lear while they confess to losing their power. For example, Act 4 scene 1 in Richard II is an accurate demonstration of Richard's lack of masculinity due to the illustration of his narcissism, emotional drive, and his vulnerability. In 4.1, Richard addresses the loss of his crown to Bolingbroke for numerous lines. He does not fully surrender the title of the crown until he concludes expressing his emotional baggage of despair and grievance. This long continuation is important to note as it can be argued as an example of Richard's narcissism. This narcissism is a subset of Richard's lack of masculinity, since narcissism entails his self concerns rather than his concerns with his royal position. Furthermore, Richard's lack of masculinity is expressed after shattering the mirror, stating, "A brittle glory shineth in this face... / ...How soon my sorrow hath destroyed my face" (4.1.A133, 4.1.A137). The drama and emotional value that is enhanced in these lines reveal Richard's vulnerability that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Charles Manson Research Paper In 1967 the Manson Family began in Venice, California. Charles Manson took the role of being a leader to his cult members by making connections between religion and rock n' roll music in order to brainwash them with his beliefs. During the summer of 1969, it is documented that there was a total of twenty–four dead bodies throughout three different murder scenes. Most believe there was a total of thirty–five killings, but some were not included in the total because there was not enough evidence. Due to the crimes committed, some wonder if Charles was severely mentally ill and did not have any control over his wrong doings. Mentally ill or not, that doesn't justify his actions nor make it acceptable to treat Manson different from any other serial killer. Charles Manson was born in ... Bad hallucinations not only include false seeings, but also false hearing, feeling, tasting, and smelling of things that are not real. Cults demand an undying loyalty those who wish to leave or double–cross them are completely cut off and shunned, in severe situations they are punished with violence and threats. The sculpture was commissioned by Tate Britain for its Duveen Gallery. The annual commission, sponsored by Sotheby's, invites artists to make work in response to Tate's collection of British art – bridging the gap between its historic and contemporary works. The commission is displayed every year from March to October. Tate Britain, part of England's five gallery network of Tate spaces, has been on a mission to redefine itself since the creation ofTate Modern in 2000. At that time the majority of Tate Britain's post–1900 collection of artworks were rehoused into Tate Modern. Tate Britain has gone through two major refurbishments since and relies heavily on events, like this commission, to maintain its resonance with modern audiences. Charles Manson Death Penalty Outline Eye Catching Title: Some Information About Said Title Introduction On August 9th, 1969, popular film actress Sharon Tate was at home at 10050 Cielo Drive, Los Angeles, California. She, her unborn baby, three friends, and a visitor to the house were all shot or stabbed that night, and found the next morning. The brutal murders were committed by the infamous "Manson Family," a cult led by none other than Charles Manson. Manson has been the inspiration for many pop culture references, appearing on American Horror Story: Cult, the comedy film Manson Family Vacation, and Quentin Tarantino's upcoming project, reportedly about the Tatemurder in 1969. This amendment covers "cruel and unusual punishment," which many people argue the death penalty is. The wording of the amendment states that "excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted" (Amendment VIII, U.S. Constitution). The aforementioned loophole in this amendment, however, is that it does not specifically define what punishments are, or are not, 'cruel and unusual.' Briefly, in the 1970s, the Supreme Court ruled that "the death penalty in most states was unlawful because it was being imposed in a discriminatory fashion. After this ruling, states had to change their death penalty procedures to satisfy the Court that they impose the death penalty fairly" (Gale Student Resources in Context). The ruling was revoked later, however, and death penalties have been handed out since then.
