already existed.
● But there was not organizations responsible for
tsunami warning system.
● And the instruments for monitoring the sea-
level were not arranged enough.
● And the counties didn't communicate and
exchange information fully.
● Therefor, serious accident like India Ocean
tsunami happened.
3. About effects of the Indian Ocean
Tsunami
● This tsunami happened in 2004 and killed
about 230,000 people.
● For this reason, PWTC put the more sea-level
monitoring instruments .
● There are the better each other countries
communication and sharing the information.
● This becomes a large network of tsunami
warning system.

● There are two major tsunami warning center.
One is PWTC introduced previous slide.
Another is Japan Meteorological Agency(JMA).
● They have two major jobs.
● One is to determine the size of earthquakes.
● Two is to predict how long tsunami strikes the
regions.
● It takes about 20 minutes to analyze the
earthquake.
