  2. 2. Introductory In 2004, the Indian Ocean tsunami killed about230,000 people. To save people from tsunamis,how early warning system for tsunamis isdeveloped.
  3. 3. A step for tsunamis●Before 2004, the Indian Ocean and manycountries didnt have instruments that monitorsea-level.● Thus, there were no agencies that receivetsunami warning from international warningcenters.
  4. 4. Tsunami watches● By 2011, Regional Tsunami Watch Providers inIndian Ocean countries take over tsunamiwatches.● The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and theJapan Meteorological Agency are responsible thatthey provide tsunami watches for the IndianOcean.

Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System● RIMES will work early next year.●Two centers in Hawaii and Japan receiveearthquake data from a range of tide and Deep-ocean Assessment and Reporting of tsunamissensors.●The commission for the Nuclear-Test Ban TreatyOrganization also receive earthquake data fromseismographic stations.
  6. 6. How two centers work●The job of two centers is that decide the size ofearthquakes and predict whether the potential tooccur tsunamis.● Whether that tsunamis occur depend on thelocation and nature of earthquakes.
  7. 7. How the data about earthquakes is informed●The data that two centers received is givennational agencies.● Warnings that tsunamis will occur are deliveredin a variety of ways, such as radio, television,email, megaphones, and so on.
  8. 8. Conclusion● These technology dose not always reach all overthe world.● If warning reach, there are not the the way ofthat people escape from tsunamis in poor.
