  2. 2. <ul><li>Using PowerPoint can be a great tool, however, it can also become ineffective if used incorrectly. </li></ul><ul><li>There are several tips to keep in mind when using PowerPoint such as: </li></ul><ul><li>Color </li></ul><ul><li>Text & Font Size </li></ul><ul><li>Space </li></ul>
  3. 3. Color & Font <ul><li>Being able to see the content of a presentation is key. Not being able to do so will disengage an audience. </li></ul><ul><li>Use large font </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Use large font for titles or main ideas </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Use smaller font for details, such as graphs or captions </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Use contrasting colors </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Dark background, light font </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Light background, dark font </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>**Take into consideration those who may be unable to see lighter colors, such as red or yellow. Remembering small details may better meet the needs of an audience.** </li></ul></ul>

Consistency <ul><li>Keeping consistent with the format of content in a presentation allows an audience to follow along easily, with little to no distractions. </li></ul><ul><li>Keep titles the same font size </li></ul><ul><li>Use the same font throughout a presentation </li></ul><ul><li>Use the same background on a presentation </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Having different backgrounds on each slide becomes a distraction </li></ul></ul>
  5. 5. Moving Text <ul><li>An audience should be able to view the text and focus their attention back on the presenter, not be distracted by special text affects. </li></ul><ul><li>Avoid using text which spirals or zooms in and out of slides. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Space <ul><li>Do not overload a slide with too much content. Doing so can: </li></ul><ul><li>Distract an audience </li></ul><ul><li>Lose attention on the presenter </li></ul><ul><li>Creating visual space allows the presenter to organize their thoughts and give the viewer a visual break. </li></ul>

Clip Art <ul><li>In order to better meet different learning styles, it’s important to include visual representations in a PowerPoint. </li></ul><ul><li>No matter the type of presentation, students and adults need visual representations in a presentation. </li></ul><ul><li>This helps break through constant text and allows a viewer to clearly see examples of what is being mentioned. </li></ul>Different Learning Styles
  8. 8. PowerPoint in the Classroom <ul><li>PowerPoint is a great tool and resource to use. It allows teachers to better present information to students. </li></ul><ul><li>It can be used in several ways, like: </li></ul><ul><li>Lecture style class and notes </li></ul><ul><li>Picture slide show </li></ul><ul><li>It is a great aid to teachers during lessons. If used properly, teachers can set an example to students on the use and purpose of PowerPoint presentations. </li></ul>
