4. Smart phone effect on Education With the increase of smart phones quality/capabilities increasing, the consumption of smart phones is on the rise. Smart phone have become a pocket computer and a must have necessity for many people. People want to have access to the internet at all times and smart phones provide this. Moreover, smart phones offer students with a new way of learning referred to as mobile learning. This thesis looks at how students are using their smart phones socially and for their education which is an unexplored topic. This thesis also looks at the potentials of mobile learning and the question of whether smart phones are replacing laptops. In this thesis I surveyed 100 students to find out how smart phones affect their social life and education. From my results I found some very interesting findings which provide a new insight into how students are benefiting from using their smart phones for educational purposes. My results also show that 68% of my respondents are addicted to using their Smartphone and that many students are now beginning to replace laptops with their smart phones for many functions.
