1. How do you use media technologies in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?
EVALUATION QUESTION 4
2. MAC
Throughout the A2 media coursework i used the school computers that were
available to me; in this case the Apple Macs. This technology allowed me to access
the resources i needed to complete my coursework, for example photoshop. This
enabled me to complete various pieces of work such as my digipak and poster - as
well as other pieces, like collages of photos and mood boards that added to my
blogposts. By using the available Macs, it also allowed me to use Final Cut Pro that i
used to edit my music video. However, for other various blogposts and research I
used my Apple Macbook Pro at home.
3. IPHONE 6
During the duration of the filming of our music video, we had a few drawbacks, for
example the camera that we were using died half way through filming and
therefore we had to switch to filming on my IPhone 6. The videos we captured
came out better than i thought and contributed well to our filming.
4. CANON EOS 550D SLR
I used my Canon eos 550d slr camera with an extended lens to shoot the filming
of our music video. I chose to use my own camera from home rather than the
ones from school as i felt i had a better understanding of how to use it. It's a
great quality and high definition camera and i feel that that is represented in the
final music video that we created, as all the shots are of good quality and in
focus. This also enabled us to get a variety of shots as with connected with a
tripod, we could maneuver the camera around the studio.
5. PHOTOSHOP
I used photoshop a lot during the process of developing my digipak and poster - as
well as other aspects of my blog work. To start with my photoshop skills were quite
rusty as i hadn't used the software since my AS media coursework. I feel that this
was reflected in my first digipak as the quality wasn't as good as my end product.
However, once i had more practice with the software and my confidence in
developing my ideas grew, i felt that my finished product was a piece of work that i
could be happy with. The primary tools that i used were the magnetic lasso tool,
changing size and font of texts, as well as changing the effects of photos.
6. BLOGGER
Blogger was a fundamental tool when carrying out my A2 media coursework as i
used this to publish all of my work on and also type up my written work, such as
these evaluation questions. I found this easy to work as i'm quite familiar with the
layout and how the website works and also found it really useful to publish and
edit work.
7. SCRIBD
Scribd was a really useful website for me as it enabled me to upload pieces
of written work and embed them onto my blog. This was sometimes better to
use than just straight uploading them to blogger as it made a nice change.
8. GOOGLE CHROME
Google Chrome was a vital piece of software that i used during the
research and planning of my coursework. By using this it enabled me to
access pieces of information that contributed to the planning for my music
video. It also allowed me to view websites such as uktribes.com.
9. FINAL CUT PRO
Final Cut Pro was used to edit my music video as it enabled me to put the clips i
had into an order that worked well with the audio from the song choice over the
top. I watched tutorial videos via Youtube to get a better understanding of how to
use the software and i felt that this really benefited me starting the process of
editing. By using Final Cut Pro, this also allowed me to add effects on top of the
video, such as distortion that added a nice effect to the final copy of my music
video.
