2. PLOT IDEA
The trailer shall start of with two friends (Ben and Jenny) who are spending
time together, then Jen’s boyfriend (Jack) appears to join them. However the
dilemma is that Ben dislikes the Jack and thinks he’s a jerk. Ben spends the
summer supporting Jen through some family issues. Then Christmas arrives
and he makes an effort to impress her, so she can realize that he’s loved her
all along. However she is conflicted with problems with her family and Jack,
that she doesn’t notice the signs. After this Ben confronts Jen about his
feelings, which shocks her making her realize what she had in front of her all
along. However she doesn’t speak out on her feelings, returning to Jack and
trying to mend their relationship. Finally on Christmas day, families are
bought together to celebrate. Therefore Ben and Jen must acknowledge each
other, feelings erupt between them. (cliché under the mistletoe scene) Ben
realizes that within his time away, the relationship between Jen and Jack has
worsened becoming non existent. Jack arrives at the party drunk, he starts a
row with Jen. Ben intervenes to protect her, Jack storms off calling the
relationship is over. Ben and Jen have a quiet conversation outside in the
snow, they work out the relationship between them, make up and become
partners. Finally they live happily ever after.
3. CINEMATOGRAPHY
Close Ups - Show the characters emotions and facial expressions.
Two Shots - To represent the relationship within the plot.
Medium Shot - See the interactions between characters.
Long Shot - Show the setting of the 1940's and the modern day being 2014.
High/ Low angle - Representation of the status and authority.
Establishing Shots & Pans - Detail of Locations.
4. SOUND
Upbeat soundtrack – To show the emotions changing within the film
Classical – Orchestra Music, sounds enchanting.
Diegetic and Non-diegetic Sounds – Sound used to emphasis the
atmosphere.
Sounds – chimes, bells etc. Which is then relatable to the genre.
5. EDITING
The expansion of time would be used to depict a longing/ loving
atmosphere between the pair.
Montage – will show a continuous representation of the couples love story
over time.
Fades/Dissolve – Will emphasis the transitions between each shot, making
them seem dream like.
The parallel editing would be used to show the two main characters love
journey, representing the time period from then and now.
6. MIS EN SCENE
Location – related to the season (cold – winter/autumn)
Christmas markets – Manchester
Café – Warm drinks plus conversations
Park – location preferably in the winter season (snow)
Casual modern clothes
High key lighting
