A globe is a spherical model of Earth, of some other celestial body, or of the celestial sphere.
Globes serve purposes similar to some maps, but unlike maps, do not distort the surface that they portray except to scale it down.
A model globe of Earth is called a terrestrial globe.

• How many units on

• This can be shown as 1:
50,000 or 1/50,000
Verbal Scale
• How much distance on
the ground is
represented distance
on the map.
• If 2cm on the map
represents 1 km on the
ground.
Linear Scale
• A linear scale is
represented inline.
• This scale shows the
relationship between
the distance on the
ground and the
distance on the map.
