1. IPC
IPC (The international publishing corporation) was formed in
1963. It has been around for about 150 years, with many
changes happening throughout. Following the merger of the
UK’s three leading magazine publishers- George Newnes,
Odhams Press and Fleetway Publications, who then came
together with the mirror group to form the IPC which was
created 5 years later.

3. Why might ICP be an appropriate publisher for a
new magazine? What sorts of genres of
music/types of magazines might they be lightly
to publish ?
IPC might be an appropriate publisher for a new music magazine as they have been
around since 1968 to now, so they will have good background knowledge on every sort
of thing a magazine might need. They have also done Musical backgrounds already
with magazines such as NME. Also IPC hasn’t yet published a RNB/HIPHOP magazine as
such on their market, so it would be good for them as it may be a good selling point for
them to try something new.
I think IPC may publish a range of different genres to try them out and see what sells
best, maybe Hip/Hop or the sort of more grown up magazines like Vibe.
Bauer may be an alternative publisher as they also do the same kind of magazines as
IPC things like TV times and pick me up etc, so they are similar both might be easy to
try out.
