51. <コラム2> ベビーフードを活用する際の留意点について
平成 27 年乳幼児栄養調査において、離乳食について、何かしらの困ったことがあると回
答した保護者は 74.1%であり、「作るのが負担、大変」と回答した保護者の割合は最も高
く、33.5%であった。
離乳食は、手作りが好ましいが、ベビーフード等の加工食品を上手に使用することによ
り、離乳食を作ることに対する保護者の負担が少しでも軽減するのであれば、それも一つ
の方法である。
ベビーフードは、各月齢の子どもに適する多様な製品が市販されている。手軽に使用が
できる反面、そればかりに頼ることの課題も指摘されていることから、ベビーフードを利
用する際の留意点を踏まえ、適切な活用方法を周知することが重要である。
ベビーフードの利点と課題
【利点】
① 単品で用いる他に、手作りの離乳食と併用すると、食品
数、調理形態も豊かになる。
② 月齢に合わせて粘度、固さ、粒の大きさなどが調整され
ているので、離乳食を手作りする場合の見本となる。
③ 製品の外箱等に離乳食メニューが提案されているものも
あり、離乳食の取り合わせの参考になる。
【課題】
① 多種類の食材を使用した製品は、それぞれの味や固さ
が体験しにくい。
② ベビーフードだけで1食を揃えた場合、栄養素などのバ
ランスが取りにくい場合がある。
③ 製品によっては子どもの咀しゃく機能に対して固すぎた
り、軟らかすぎることがある。
