Weedon Island was home to the very first Native Americans that came to Florida Alabama and
Georgia; these people used to do everything in the island and lived there for a long period of time.
Even though, the island is very small for an entire population to live in it because there was
probably not enough food for everyone, they still managed to stay there for many years. Nowadays
the place is a reserve own by the state where tourists and locals can go and explore. During the hike
people get to see the Florida state tree, many pine trees, turtles, and many other organisms that are
protected by the state, and just like any other preserve, the organisms found at the island cannot be

pinecones. The small pinecones are the males and the big ones, that almost everyone is familiar to,

Causes Of Deforestation
As you look at the earth today, you notice something different than what it looked like ten or twenty
years ago. "The highest rates of deforestation have occurred during the last fifty years". (Rainforest
Alliance, 2017) Deforestation is causing a huge problem in our environment, many causes of this
issue are agriculture, farming, logging industry, ranchers and fuelwood collection. Because of this
deforestation, there is less trees, the environment is suffering, the habitat for many animals are lost
and more carbon dioxide is being released into the atmosphere. The rainforest is an important
resource to humans and animals. There is little to no chance for the recovery of the rainforests after
they are deforested. So, once they are gone, they more than likely will be gone forever. This is
where a company called Rainforest Alliance stepped in. In 1987 when this company was founded
they put in plan a way to conserve and protect the biodiversity of the land, stop deforestation and
improve the livelihoods of the communities that depend on this land. Rainforest Alliance has
designed a learning tool that would enable the farmers and business to learn how to preserve and
maintain the land and still use the land for farming. They would certify using strict guidelines these
farmers and farms so that they could farm and still be able to protect the forests from deforestation.
So, they started this program in Central America and now they are in over seventy–eight countries.

Rainforests used to cover 14% of the earth now they cover just 6% this is a huge amount of area we

Here are some ways to stop deforestation. We can try to make corporations help, they have the
power to destroy the rainforest but they also have the power to protect it. There are many things

Introduction:
Some of the trees on earth have existed for longer than three thousand years. They have lived across
history from even before the days of Jesus Christ. God has provided these trees with his care and
has protected them from natural disasters. He saved them from everything ranging from droughts to
floods. Yet, the Almighty wasn't able to provide them with immunity from the foolishness and
shortsightedness of man. The development of humanity and technology is causing the destruction of
the nature in order to have big investments. This process of destruction is called " deforestation"
which is going to by my choice of topic for this paper. Deforestation is the elimination of a forest or
stand of trees where the land is thereafter converted to a non forest use. Examples of deforestation
include conversion of forestland to farms, ranches, or urban use. The reason I chose this topic is

The Amazon Rainforest Covering more than forty percent of South America is the Amazon
Rainforest. It's known for being the largest rainforest on the planet. Most of the jungle lies in Brazil.
The Amazon Rainforest also holds the Amazon River. According to the National Science
Foundation, the Aamazon Rriver is the longest river in the world by volume and contains twenty
percent of the Earth's freshwater. But the Nile River is the longest when calculating width. Being as
big a it is, the Aamazon holds a massive number of different types of species of wildlife with
different kinds of sub–ecosystems to provide for them. When I think of the Amazon I first think of
the terrestrial ecosystems. These are the land based environments. I'm going to take the first part of
this project to talk about the terrestrial ecosystem in the Aamazon and all the wildlife that it holds.
According to WorldAtlas there are 427 types of mammals, 1,300 types of birds, 378 types of
reptiles, more than 400 kinds of amphibians, over 80,000 types of plants and trees, and estimation of

The foundation is to educate people about real problems, the awareness that is going on around
them. As a little girl, growing up in Haiti no one never mentions to me about climate changes, it was
okay that we could just keep cutting trees in back of the house to make charcoal. With majority of

In Figure 4, Mr. Yi explained that the increases in atmospheric temperature causes higher saturation
vapor pressure, the greater the capacity for water to evaporate from soils and water bodies and
transpire from plants. With the increase of saturation vapor pressure atmospheric warming directly
increases plants evapotranspiration demands, which would to more water emitted by vegetated
surfaces to the atmosphere unless soil moisture gets too depleted. Weather systems accompanied
with extreme precipitation events can become more violent as more latent heat is released. These
events would tax the system making it longer between the recharging of the atmosphere with
moisture as its holding capacity for water increases. The results are longer duration between

The California Spotted Owl (Strix occidentalis occidentalis) is a subspecies of the Spotted Owl.
They are found in northwestern California, western Oregon, western Washington, and southwestern
British Columbia. They live in old growth forests around 200 years old, preferring Douglas–fir and
high canopy areas. They are described as medium sized, brown owls with white spots. The
California Spotted Owl has a height of about 1.5 feet and a wing span of around 4 feet. The
California Spotted Owl is a nocturnal bird whose diet consists of rodents, reptiles, invertebrates and

As the Premier of Ontario, I have finally made the decision about the forests of Temagami. By going
through everybody's needs and wants, I have decided that not the old growth pine forests but
instead, the regular forest trees are the ones that are going to be cut down for Temagami's economy.
Since cutting down no trees is not an option, the best choice left is to let our old growth trees live.
Old growth forests are home to more than half of the world's red and white pine trees. Only a tiny
fraction of these forests is left and if we keep on cutting them down, we are going to lose them all.
Those trees are already suffering because of the wild weather conditions in that region. Also, this

April 2nd Chainsaw Reflection
Out of the chapters we've read this week, chapter "April 2nd – Chainsaw" drew my interest the
most. The author was very unpleased with the maintenance crew cutting and bulldozing unwanted
trees from the edge of the golf course. Instead of putting the cut down trees to any good use, they
decided to just dumped them off the cliff, but what they didn't know is that these trees will provide
extra salamander habitat. So that's a cool pro out of a con. With maintenance cutting down these
trees, many inhabitants will be destroyed in the process which would take decades to recover.
Reading the "April 2nd – Chainsaw" influenced me to think about how I use natural resources in the

has been destroyed because of deforestation. Forests cover about 30% of the planet. Deforestation is

completely vanish in a hundred years at the current rate of deforestation." (NG 2015)
The cause of deforestation is from number of things. Some are unintentional and some are intentions
clearings. The number one cause of deforestation is agriculture. Farmers buy forested lands to clear
and replant crops for harvest. Farmers also buy land for grazing animals. Cattle ranching is the
leading cause of deforestation in the Amazon. Many times deforestation is caused from illegal
farming and cutting. 49% of all deforestation is illegal (FT 2015) Another leading cause for
deforestation is logging. Logging other wise known as foresting. Other causes are wildfires caused
unintentionally by people and subsequent overgrazing.

Yanomami live in isolated areas to avoid conflict. They're more of horticulture tribe, but has things
similarly in common with the hunter and gatherers. According to Yanomami Challenges in the
Rainforest Article there are 22,500 Yanomami members who live in about 250 villages located in
Brazil and Venezuela. Outsiders seem not to have respect for their land. There are some types of

The most destructive and harmful tragedy that our rainforests, specifically the Amazon, suffer from
is deforestation. Deforestation is the clearing or destruction of land throughout forests.
Unfortunately, human beings are the number one cause of deforestation throughout the world. The
reason if this is simply because we use the wood mainly for things like hydroelectric dams that
power communities, palm oil for its biofuel resourcefulness, and the mining for diamond and gold.
Another reason would be intentional fires that are used to destroy acres of forest in a quick amount
of time for things like construction. Using fires to clear out land quickly is used because taking the

A fungi named Marasmius has gone underappreciated. It has been swept away and torn from its
environment for years. It has even been viewed as a nuisance. This fungus half the time wasn't even
noticed. On our behalf, it is hard to see because the growths of it are so small. It does not usually
produce any mushrooms, but on the off chance it does fruit, they are small and non descriptive. That
was the case, before a researcher Snaddon saw it for the beneficial element it is. This fungus grows
in fine threads creating almost a net like structure between the plants in the rainforest. These threads
are sticky and collect the falling leaves. Instead of all the rainforest litter ending up on the forest
floor, it now gets caught in the mezzanine layer. These fungi create suspending universes for the

The natural ingredients in the forest contain supplements that cure diseases and sickness but as for
cutting down much of the forests, give less hope to all patients which are sad because the element to
alleviate pain is vanishing rapidly. As for basic nourishments, the leaves on a tree absorb carbon
