 What is SWA?
 The word “SWA” means: ‘Self Woven Art’.
 ‘SWA’ is : One’s own, Belonging to oneself,
Natural, Inherent, Peculiar and Inborn.
(Source: Sanskrit-English Dictionary by
Vaman Shivaram Apte)
 OBSERVE
Swa observed that if he listened attentively
when others talked to him, it made the
speakers feel honored and happy that they
were being heard.
Since he looked into their eyes and listened
with great interest, they become very
friendly with him and began to trust him.
 RESTRAINT
During a conversation or an argument, SWA
waited for the other person to finish
speaking first and then responded to the
person with restraint. That is, he would think
whether what he was about to utter is
truthful and also took care to say it politely
so that others would not feel hurt by what he
said. Thus people automatically began to
respect him although he was just a young
child.
Continued…
 Restraint…
Rather than complaining to others about the
problem he had with people, he tried to
resolve any conflicts directly with the person
concerned. This developed mutual
confidence.
He never blamed anybody for things or
situations that he couldn’t change. This
saved him from building up negative energy.
Continued…
 Restraint…
He never spoke badly about others in their
absence. So he always had a positive attitude
and felt happy and fresh.
 ACCEPT
Swa accepted his mistakes and wrongdoings
and immediately said “Sorry”. This made him
feel humble and honest about himself.
 CELEBRATE
Swa celebrated his inner goodness and felt
happy about himself. His goodness was due
to ‘thinking good’ , ‘speaking good’ , and
‘doing good’; that strengthened his whole
being.
 LOVE OF LABOUR
Swa loved to do his own work himself. He
labored for his food by doing manual work,
and also worked to keep his surroundings
clean and maintain his personal cleanliness.
He believed in manual labour as being the
eternal honest and just way of living. So he
was free from fear because he did not
depend on others to satisfy his personal
needs.
 EVOLVE
Swa evolved macro peace by micro actions.
This means that Swa knew how to achieve
the bigger goal of bringing peace into his life
by performing small positive acts. So he
believed more in ‘action’ than in ‘talk’. Swa
succeeded in taking small but sure steps for
achieving greater things. He was convinced
that ‘Means’ (the method or the way) was
more important than the ‘end’ (the result of
the action).
 The one Holistic Value: ‘LOVE FOR LOBOUR’
Swa through his inborn wisdom and childish
innocence came to the conclusion that by
following one important value he was able to
practice the other first values easily and that
main value was ‘LOVE of LABOUR’ (manual
labour). So by his actions, Swa impressed
upon everyone to follow this golden rule-
‘love of labour’.
