between reading for
understanding and
reading for information.

massive difference to
knowledge accumulation.

just like reading
newspaper. This type of
reading is not going to
give you an edge, make
you better at your job or
allow you to grow with
rich knowledge.

HOW TO READ?
19. The Four Levels of Reading by
Mortimer J Adler
1. Elementary reading:
Already taught in elementary
schools.
2. Inspectional reading:
Inspectional reading gives you
the gist of things, the author
conveys. It allows you to look
at the author’s blueprint and
evaluate the merits of a deeper
reading experience.
3. Analytical reading:
Analytical reading is a
thorough reading. At some
point of time, you start to
engage your mind and dig into
the subject matter.
4. Syntopical reading: This
is also known as comparative
reading. This involves reading
many books on the same
subject, and comparing and
contrasting ideas, vocabulary
and arguments.
26. Set a goal for yourself.
Look for a book group.
Keep track of the books that you would like to read.
Always know what book you are going to read next.
Even if you can't commit to an hour or more of
reading every day, start with 20 to 30 minutes.
Expert’s opinion is to read at least two hours a day.
SET YOUR READING GOALS
