height ‘h’ the potential energy
u = mgh.

Flowing water in a river.
Toy car in motion.
Compressed spring.
Water flows down through
penstock pipes.
7. MECHANICAL ENERGY
The total mechanical energy of an
object is the sum of its potential energy
and kinetic energy.
Mechanical energy = Potential energy
+ Kinetic energy.
8. LAW OF CONSERVATION OF ENERGY
Energy can only be
converted from one form to
another. It can neither be
created nor destroyed.
