About The
Prophet (S)
Adil Salahi
On Prophethood
Nubuwwah is the revelation and guidance which Allah
sent through His chosen people to different people and
communities. This revelation was transmitted to prophets
by the angel Jibril ( ‫جبريل‬ ). Prphethood started from the
appointment of the first prophet and ended with message
of Rasul Muhammad (S), the seal of prophets ( ‫خاتم‬
‫النبياء‬ ).
The Qur’an has mentioned only 24. However, from Adam
to Mohammed (S), thousands of prophets ( ‫أنبياء‬ ) and
messengers ( ‫رسل‬ُ ) were sent by Allah to convey the
message of Tawhid to specific people in a specific period of
time. According to some narration their number
approximately 124.00 or 242.00 prophets. Five scriptures
are mentioned in the Qur’an. These includes: These are:
Zabur (‫)الزبور‬ Tawrah (‫)التوراة‬ Engel (‫,)النجيل‬ Suhuf
Quotation
No religion or people has been altogether
deprived of Divine enlightenment through
God’s chosen servants, His prophets.
Directly or indirectly, all people of all
periods have, at the some time in their
history, known or been aware of a prophet
and of his teachings. A period during which
the names of the prophets have been
forgotten and their teachings are
completely eroded, until another prophet is
sent, is described as an interregnum. Its is
accepted that people who live in those
periods would not be punished but rather
excused, on the condition that they have
not knowingly and willfully deviated into
polytheism or theism”
ource: A. FathullahGulen, Questions this modern age puts to Islam, p. 112.

by prophets. When a prophet passed away, another
prophet succeeded him. But no prophet will come after
me; only caliphs will succeed me."
Source: Bukhari, Kitab-ul-Manaqib.
Rasul Allah () says "My position in relation to the
prophets who came before me can be explained by the
following example: A man erected a building and
adorned this edifice with great beauty, but he left an
empty niche, in the corner where just one brick was
missing. People looked around the building and
marvelled at its beauty, but wondered why a brick was
missing from that niche? I am like unto that one
missing brick and I am the last in the line of the
Prophets.“

Quran, T/tawbah (9): 24
Selected Hadith
man asked the Prophet about the Hour (i.e. Day of
Judgment) saying, "When will the Hour be?" The
Prophet said, "What have you prepared for it?" The
man said, "Nothing, except that I love Allah and His
Apostle. " The Prophet said, "You will be with
those whom you love."
e had never been so glad as we were on hearing that
saying of the Prophet (i.e., "You will be with those
whom you love.") Therefore, I love the Prophet ,
Abu Bakr and 'Umar, and I hope that I will be with
them because of my love for them though my deeds
are not similar to theirs.
