  5. 5. Early days Photo of WCG Youths in the early days of the 21 st century Mark-Shane’s parents joined the Worldwide Church of God (WCG) in 1983, a few weeks after Mark-Shane was born. At that time, WCG believed in keeping holy days – the seven feasts of the LORD.

  7. 7. Beliefs of WCG <ul><li>WCG was the only true Church, or remnant of true Christianity </li></ul><ul><li>A Christian observes God’s appointed feasts as laid out in Leviticus 23. </li></ul><ul><li>WCG was uniquely called to preach the everlasting gospel and the kingdom of God. </li></ul><ul><li>No other denomination understood the gospel </li></ul>THEN: NOW:
  8. 8. Mark-Shane and Evangelicals <ul><li>Celebrate Jesus Crusade 1999 </li></ul><ul><li>Enrolled in a James Kennedy Evangelical explosion course </li></ul>
  9. 9. Mark-Shane and Charismatics <ul><li>ISCF exposure </li></ul><ul><li>Lot of friends from the Open Bible Churches </li></ul><ul><li>Listened to Benny Hinn on T.V. on “This is Your Day!” </li></ul>

The Sabbath beckoning <ul><li>At Church of God International, Ian Boyne had invited Seventh Day churches to a seminar on why they did not keep the other feast days. </li></ul><ul><li>Mark-Shane was invited by a friend, Natalie Simmonds. </li></ul><ul><li>Here the Spirit made him recognise that the Sabbath was given before the Covenant with Israel. </li></ul>

Sabbath conviction <ul><li>That Sabbath changed Mark-Shane </li></ul><ul><li>Attended University & Colleges Christian Fellowship at University of the West Indies </li></ul><ul><li>Was offended when some members of UCCF called the Kingston Church of Christ a cult! </li></ul><ul><li>Started to feel out of place </li></ul>

Mark-Shane and Adventism <ul><li>During his final years, attended Advent Fellowship (Adventist group for university students) </li></ul><ul><li>Became an active member and even a member of their executive body </li></ul><ul><li>Was baptised after an altar call was made during the first Adventist crusade he attended </li></ul>

Mark-Shane and Messianic Judaism <ul><li>Mark-Shane moved to Montego Bay where he married his wife, who was originally a Baptist. </li></ul><ul><li>She met Arnella Rose who went to Israel and studied, and was also involved in Messianic Judaism. </li></ul><ul><li>Mark-Shane and his wife studied with Arnella for a while </li></ul>

New direction <ul><li>Mark-Shane started to believe in the feast days. </li></ul><ul><li>He subscribed to United Church of God’s (UCG) Good News magazine </li></ul><ul><li>When he and his wife moved back to Kingston, he started to attend UCG </li></ul><ul><li>UCG – was a group that broke away from WCG after it changed its beliefs </li></ul>

Mark-Shane and the Jews <ul><li>One day he visited the Jewish synagogue </li></ul><ul><li>He was impressed with what he saw and his reception </li></ul><ul><li>He vowed to visit again. </li></ul><ul><li>Mark-Shane begins to subscribe to Jewish website </li></ul><ul><li>His knowledge of Scripture deepens </li></ul>
  16. 16. God instructs Mark-Shane <ul><li>God warns Mark-Shane in a dream to fellowship with a people who preach Jesus as Christ </li></ul><ul><li>Later, God reminds Mark-Shane in another dream that he has been called to be an evangelist </li></ul>
