Dear Friends in Christ at St. George:

It is with great pleasure that I announce the call of Charles Blackmar as our new Director of Youth Ministries!

After conversations with some excellent candidates and extended prayer, our search committee sensed God was
calling us to invite Charles to come and serve Christ alongside us. I concurred with that decision. Last week I
extended a call to him; and after prayer and conversation with his wife, he has accepted. We will welcome him
to the first youth gathering 4 September.

Charles comes with a strong and rich experience in youth ministry from two different Methodist Churches in
Jacksonville. His ministry in Christ might be characterized as enjoying young people, insightful teaching,
intentional listening, getting outside the church walls, mission work, inviting students to live out their faith, and
bringing joy and having fun!. He has a B.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies from UNF, and a Masters of
Arts Theological Studies from Ashbury Theological Seminary. He is married to Jennifer and they have one
child, Elizabeth. Perhaps some of you met Charles and his family when they came to our Blessing of the
Surfboards.

Our search committee consisted of Terry Matthews (chair), George Register, Tori and Wes Runyon, and Taylor
Edwards, and I would like to give special thanks for their offering of time and prayer. With great pleasure do I
share with you that Tori and Wesley will be assisting with our youth program again this year.

We are thankful for the wonderful addition of Charles to our staff. I ask that you pray for the youth of our
parish, for the leadership that Charles will provide, and for his transition to the St. George family.

In Christ, with continued love and blessings upon you all,
The Reverend Dr. Nancee Martin-Coffey, Rector
