1. Task 6 hints
As stated in the instructions...
The data files as they stand are inappropriate to create an effective database. Mrs Reid has been informed that the database needs to be normalised and appropriate primary keys and foreign keys will need to be created for all tables.
You will have created a primary key (ID) for the student names when you imported the data
TbStudents
lefttopThe data shown above is not Normalised
To be Normalised data must beAtomicNot repeatedNot dependent on another field
Initially the NAMES are repeated in the Loan Table
TbLoansmake a field for StudentIDyou should use the StudentID Not name
325755051435left32385
The names can/must then be Normalised in the TbStudent Table Make a new column, double-click on the surname part of name – cut – paste into the new field (column)
All dates should be of Data-Type DATE/TIME. So the imported fields must be replaced
In the Design View of the table the Data Type is changed to Date/Time (Access will do this automatically when you type a date dd/mm/yyyy into the new field as you create it). But you must check that all DataTypes are appropriate for every field in your database.
lefttop
Relationships
