9. Summary
There are three states of matter, solid, liquid, and gas.
They are interconvertable among themselves upon application of heat.
Process of transformation of solid to liquid is called Melting, and the
corresponding temperature is called Melting point/freezing point.
Process of transformation of liquid to solid is called Freezing, and the
corresponding temperature is called freezing point.
Process of transformation of liquid to gas is called
Boiling/Evaporation, and the corresponding temperature is called
Boiling point.
Process of transformation of gas to liquid is called Condensation, and
the corresponding temperature is called Condensation point.
Each compound has its own specific melting point, boiling point,
freezing point, and condensation point.
