Jetblue Airlines, By Utah Entrepreneur David Needleman
The airline currently known as JetBlue airlines was created in 1999 by Utah entrepreneur David Needleman with the goal of bringing humanity back
to the airline industry. Needleman started an innovative airline called Morris Air, and was the first airline to successfully utilize a ticketless reservation
system, and the basic structure was to provide consumers with excellent service but low fares. This airline reported making over 20 million in profits in
2003, but decided to sell this new airline to Southwest airlines, and signed a five year no competition agreement (JetBlue airlines, 2008). The design of
the new JetBlue airline would use aircraft with one cabin class, and incorporate an in flight entertainment system with over 24 satellite television
channels and web services, as well as movies in the headrest of every seat. The choice was also made not to serve meals, but offer gourmet chips
and refreshments. The cabin also offers larger leather seats with increased legroom, larger overhead bins, and JetBlue was one of the first airlines
to convert to a cashless system for drinks and food. The company began flying in 2000, with only two leased Airbus A320's, and its first route was
from New York's John F. Kennedy airport to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The airline was given 75 takeoff slots in JFK airport, and has been working
there way up to one of the most successful airlines. The airlines goals were to beat their competitors by 65%, and increase the positive

Airline Alliance Advantages
Airline alliance can be defined as an agreement that consist of multiple independent airline to partner up or collaborate in various streamline costs
activities and expanding market penetration and global reach (Hu, Caldentey, & Vulcano, 2013). Nowadays there is a lot of Airline Alliance in the
globe that serve in many different regions throughout the world with the purpose to expands each existing airline in the alliance network by using the
code–sharing, reciprocal agreements, frequent flyers programme and many other more (Pitfield, 2007). Currently there are three main Airline Alliance
that consist of numerous number of airlines in each alliance. The Airline Alliance are Skyteam,Oneworld, and Sky Alliances. As stated before each one
of the alliance have the same purpose which is code sharing, frequent flyers programme and many other more. The rise of the airline alliances has
given significant positive impacts towards the industry, passengers and the airline itself. According to Pitfield (2007), the airline alliances give serious
impact in term of passenger traffic, market shares and concentration.
The rise of the airline alliance has given advantages and privileged to the airlines. Some of the advantages of an airline that joined alliance, it will able
the airline to use code sharing within the alliance member itself. For example, the member of One World will cooperate with one another in through
extensive and even the frequent flyer programs (Fan, Langlois, Geissler,

affect travel decisions and choice of airline by customers, and these requirements usually do vary between different market segments on the same

overarching business strategy, with an explanation of the most profitable strategy.
For the comparison of Doganis? five key product features, the Ireland based low–cost carrier, Ryanair will be compared to the German based,
full–service airline, Lufthansa. Both airlines will be using a city–pair from Dublin to Frankfurt for the basis of the comparison in airfare. Since,
Ryanair only offers a single fare for their seating class which is Economy, that is in accordance with most low–cost models and Lufthansa offers First,
Business, and Economy classes, only Lufthansa?s economy class pricing will be used is used in this paper. Lufthansa uses a three tiers system for
their economy class, with each tiers offering different cost structures based on the prices of the fare, which is based on options available. The tiers
consist of Economy Light, Economy Classic, and Economy Flex, to stay close in accordance with Ryanair, the Economy Light class offered by the
carrier will be used since the cost structure for this seating allows the passenger the same amenities as the low–cost carrier.
In the airline industry pricing is vital. This type of product and service is one of the only key features that are planned and combined together so that
the airline can generate demand (Doganis, 2010).
Fares, for both flights were booked on the same dates of travel, using December 31, 2015 as the departure date, with a return date of January 7, 2016.

Most Americans, about 70%, are infrequent flyers, another 14% have never been on a plan at all. However, by the time I was six, I had already
been on more than 40 flights. With each travel time being an average of four hours, that means that by the time I was ten, I had flown a total amount
of roughly eleven and a half days, more than enough time to become an expert at boarding a plane. All this time spent around these giant flying
machines at 39,000 feet sparked my interest in them, and more specifically how they worked. This interest later broadened to include all types of
vehicles, flying and not, as well as buildings and skyscrapers. When I was younger, I read about things such as the Titanic, U–boats, and shipwrecks of
the 1800's up to the second World War. Unfortunately, most of the people surrounding me didn't find items like the tiny gears inside a mechanical

In fact, I used an ancient, bulky camera I found deep in my parents' closet. After I figured out that pictures could be strung together to make a video, I
began to make short films using stop motion animation. After the intensive filming process, I remember my dad preparing to upload the pictures to
his old desktop computer, exclaiming that I had taken an astounding 5,000 pictures in a couple of days. My first video was only the start of a year
long movie–making extravaganza that only ended when my parent's old camera finally gave out. For a while it seemed that my film career had
ended, until I learned about a video production class that would be available to me next year in when I would be in 7th grade. The next year gave
me access to better cameras, better tools, and this time, I even had a teacher. It's often said that a picture is worth a thousand words, and if that's the

Competitive Challenges Of Lufthansa
2.1 The awareness of Star Alliance– how it is till now
2.1.1 Brand development
The creation of airline alliance in the 90's was driven by new level of competitive awareness in the sky transportation field. There were many elements
that influenced the decision of bounding airlines such as to gain the competitive advantages by code–sharing to make growth in market share. Many
alliances were created back then, but later they consolidated and formed five big alliances that exist till today and one of those and the biggest one is
Star Alliance. The airlines within the alliance that were under one network, still could maintain their own identities.
Despite the fact that Star Alliance was founded in 1997, the building of the started earlier in 1996 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Business model of Star Alliance is seem to be working properly with the large area of possibility to travel and using frequent flyer programs. The
biggest issue is the loss in integration between the airlines or even absents of it. For the material and immaterial benefits integration must be wide
spread not only visible in small groups.
To work more efficiently they should invest and make a centralized IT infrastructure for all of the systems. There were also too many cases where
customer felt defrauded because of losing their baggage or being unable to enter the lounge. These examples show the failure of delivering services
which were claimed by the alliance to be offered. That kind of inadequacy can cause a customer to breakdown and stop using the company's services.
Start Alliance is expected to bring seamless travel environment so it should unify their operations.
The focus on a value should also be taken care of. Every airline should be examine on how much value do they add to the alliance, because keeping
a carrier just for the sake of having the largest number of members does not seem to be profitable. With the measuring of the worth of each airline it
can be noticed which carrier fits and which would be better somewhere else. This should be done also in definitive way, because right now the added
value can be seen, but it needs to be more precise. After all this would help to see clearly the benefits

Jetblue Legal Issues
Introduction
JetBlue Airways is a passenger airline founded in 1999 by David Neeleman. Neeleman aimed to provide the customer with first–rate service at
reasonable prices. In order to ensure this strategy, JetBlue had to recruit and hire the right people to complement its core values. The company
encompasses five core values: safety, caring, integrity fun, and passion. JetBlue uses a targeted selection process to identify employees which fit the
company values. However, this approach can lead to equal employment opportunity legal challenges.

(Lewis, 2007). JetBlue uses a targeted selection process. When JetBlue began its hiring, recruiters looked for applicants who displayed integrity, as
well as, showed traits consistent with its core values of safety, caring, integrity, fun, and passion. The interview process for both mechanics and pilots
are built on these core values to ensure the right cultural fit. During the interview process, applicants are asked to recall incidents from previous jobs
and describe how the situation was handled along with the consequences of the actions. JetBlue hired applicants who did not compromise on the safety
of passengers such as a mechanic who did not certify an aircraft because it did not comply with safety standards. JetBlue hired this mechanic because
his attitude fit with the standards set forth by JetBlue. On the other hand, a pilot who was arrogant was refused employment. In pilot recruitment, pilots
are required to be computer savvy, but they also need to fit the culture of the airline. The company covered the cost of pilot training, unlike other airline
carriers, therefore, the aspect of being a cultural fit is important to control attrition costs. If an employee leaves after the company invests in training, it

Strategic Alliance Vs. Acquisition M & A And Organic Growth
STRATEGIC ALLIANCE: A strategic alliance is an agreement between two or more parties to pursue a set of agreed upon objectives needed while
remaining independent organizations. This form of cooperation lies between Mergers & Acquisition M&A and organic growth. Partners may provide
the strategic alliance with resources such as products, distribution channels, manufacturing capability, project funding, capital equipment, knowledge,
expertise, or intellectual property. The alliance is cooperation or collaboration which aims for a synergy where each partner hopes that the benefits from
the alliance will be greater than those from individual efforts. The alliance often involves technology transfer (access to knowledge and expertise),
economic specialization, shared expenses and shared risk. INtRODUCTION: Nowadays, the commercial competition has surpassed the limits of the
previous era in which dominant markets are protecting their set market shares. Mega commercial activity back then was completely regulated by the
government. The United States has privatized a lot of sectors related to energy, telecommunication, and transportation sectors. In response, the USA
introduced the deregulations in the aviation industry to increase the competition in the aviation market. In the past few years, the commercial air
carriers have formed strategic alliances with each other which were not possible before this due to the previous regulations. The main reasons for the
creation of these

How Tap Portugal Changed The World
As there are various state owned flag carrier, TAP is one of them. TAP Portugal has been the pride of many Portuguese people throughout the world.
TAP is not only the national carrier, but also the vehicle of transportation that brings one to the home country. TAP Portugal like various airlines
throughout the world, has suffered immensely for survival in such a competitive market throughout the years. With 61 years of existence, TAP's history
is quite extensive. TAPPortugal was not the first airline in Portugal. A few airlines had started before World War II, but with the world concentrating on
the ongoing war, civil aviation took a backseat, and many airlines ceased their operations. And then came along a man with a vision,... Show more

(Tap's History, 2016) That same year, TAP Portugal acquires two Dakota DC

the need of connecting the Portuguese colonies, Angola, Mozambique to Portugal. In 1946, after acquiring the two aircrafts TAP Portugal could then
launch two routes. The first commercial Lisbon–Madrid service began on 19 September 1946, while on 31 December, the "Imperial Airline" was
launched, flying between Lisbon, Luanda [Angola], and Lourenço Marques [Mozambique], a return journey of 24,540 kilometers that took a total
of 15 days and included 12 stopovers. (Tap's History, 2016) This was the beginning of TAP Portugal. Throughout the years, TAP began expanding
their routes. In 1950's, the jet engine would ultimately revolutionize the airline industry, shrinking air travel time in half by enabling planes to climb
faster and fly higher. (First Jet makes test flight, 2010) With the innovation of jet engines that meant TAP could now fly longer routes, and unite
farther old colonies to the homeland. That same year [1955] Admiral Gago Coutinho made a test flight to Rio de Janeiro. (Tap's History, 2016)
However, before jet engines came to TAP, it would suffer some changes. TAP

Gava Analysis
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to conduct a General Aviation Value Analysis (GAVA) to determine whether one form of transportation is more efficient
than another, in order for a group of colleagues to attend a business meeting. The intent of the assignment was to assess the value of using a business
aircraft (verses commercial aircraft, personal car, train, etc.). The researcher compared and contrasted two trip locations, with multiple variables of
attendees, modes of travel, and expenses associated with each variable.
Parameters of the Research
The researcher used the majority of the parameters provided by the course syllabus, specifically the "Course Projects" portion of this document
(Embry–Riddle, 2013). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to these facts, the calculations for the commute and parking at the airport were not fully utilized (other than displaying them on the Excel
spreadsheet).
Based upon previously mentioned assumptions and variables, it would cost two colleagues each 720 minutes to drive the 840 miles roundtrip to
Prague from Frankfurt (Google, 2013). Assuming that one travel day would be required to drive there, and one day to drive back, each employee
would drive 360 minutes (six hours) to get to the meeting in Prague. This would cost the company $480 in wages (6 hours x $80/hour = $480) per
employee, per travel day, for whomever goes to the meeting. It would also cost the company $420 to pay for mileage for each vehicle that drove to
Prague for the meeting (840 miles total x $0.50/mile = $420).
In addition to the $960 in travel day wages (per employee), there is also the cost of wages for the day of the actual meeting. A nine hour day
(0900–1800), would cost the company $720 in wages (9 hours x $80/hour = $720) per employee who attends the meeting. Seeing as every form of
transportation will get the employees to the meeting at the same time, and all employees will spend the same nine hours at the meeting, this factor is
really not an issue for comparison.
Bottom–line: to send two people to the meeting in Prague would cost $960

Jetblue's Good Service Quality
ABSTRACT (Isabelle Aultman and Ben Cvek) In any business service quality is going to "make or break" the company in the long run. JetBlue has
great ideas on how to compete and how to be lower priced while still gaining profit. Customer and provider gaps are all about what a customer expects,
what a customer perceives, what a customer is willing to accept, what a company understands about those expectations, a company's communication
both internal and external, and the company systems and processes (Zeithaml, et al.,2013).
Although JetBlue had good service quality in place for the most part, it lacked the proper processes and systems to properly provide support.
Ultimately, customers had expectations and were not willing to accept the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, JetBlue targeted large metropolitan areas with high average fares to compete with the larger airliners. Even small things such as more
seats and a more fuel–efficient aircraft increased profits. Things seemed to be running great for JetBlue as they increased the number of destinations.
All of these things kept JetBlue profitable. It seems as though JetBlue has strayed from their original core values, although, the company seems to be on
the way to resolving the issues that plague them.
STRATEGIC PROFILE (John Beck and Admira Salazar)
Starting Off In the Right Direction
Jet Blue was birthed in 1999 by David Neeleman and went public in 2000 as an independently owned and operated Airline. Headquarters is located in
Long Island, New York with its main base atJohn F. Kennedy International Airportwith most of the flights occurring in the United States and the
Caribbean (Docslide, 2015).
From its very essences, JetBlue showed high signs of profitability, initially the company set out to sell over five and a half million shares at an
average of $25 per share. However, the company actually topped off at $27 dollars selling almost 6 million in shares. Being in the airline industry
means the level of competition is high, so JetBlue wanted to establish itself as a high–end airline with

Jetblue Case Analysis
JetBlue Airways airline was established by David Neeleman as a low–fare airline with high–quality customer service. His goal was to create an airline
that was innovative for the current market. Their main focus was to provide service to areas that were underserved as well as to large cities with
overpriced fares. He aimed to establish a strong brand that differentiated itself from its competitors by being a safe, reliable and low cost–airline.
Neeleman managed to achieve this partially by hiring friendly, helpful, team–oriented, and customer–focused people. JetBlue is capable of offering
low–cost flights due to their low operating costs. In order to achieve the cost advantage, they initially operated a single–type aircraft, the Airbus ... Show

Subsequently, a newly created airline would definitely face trouble having to compete in this mature industry specifically with other low–cost airlines
that have learned to implement high–quality service while providing the lowest prices possible. It appears that one of the available opportunities for a
newly created airline would be to take on a differentiation strategy and provide its customers with unique features that larger competitors simply do not
have. The bargain power of buyers is fairly high, especially within the low–cost airline industry. Customers continuously seek to purchase tickets at the
lowest price possible while suppliers tend to look for ways to differentiate their service among other competitors. Moreover, the widespread use of the
Internet enables customers to find the most affordable fare quickly and conveniently. Definitely, the buyers are price sensitive as far as the airline
industry goes, and they are often willing to substitute services provided by one airline to purchase a ticket for less from another airline. The bargain
power of suppliers is high mainly because the airline's success depends greatly on their suppliers. The switching costs are tremendously high for airlines
which makes the suppliers position even stronger. Additionally, there is not much competition in the airplane manufacturing industry on account of
Boing and Airbus as being the main manufacturers that dominate the industry. The threat of

Variation in domestic & foreign oil price
The time is not going well for airlines industry. It is suffering in a pity condition due to increase in aviation turbine fuel (ATF). ATF accounts for 35 per
cent of the total airline expenses. The price of ATF is increased 3 times in last 3 years. Just in last 5 months it has increased by 65%. Interesting thing
is that in the market of Singapore & Dubai, it is Rs.45 per liter but in India it has the 21% higher price. First let's know why its price is higher.
In India the aviation companies have to spend more to purchase ATF. Airlines in India pay the most for fuel when compared with other Asia
Pacific hubs like Singapore, Hong Kong and Colombo, mainly on account of higher tax rates. Aviation Turbine Fuel or jet fuel in Delhi, the city
that houses the nation 's second busiest airport, costs USD 1,291 per kilolitre while the same in Singapore is sold at USD 1,067 per kl. It costs
USD 1,100 per kl in Hong Kong and USD 1,113 in Colombo. For airlines, refueling cost in Delhi is 21.73 per cent higher than that in Singapore.
Similarly, airlines in India pay 14.82 per cent and 13.87 per cent more than what those in Colombo and Hong Kong pay respectively.
Over the past four months, cost of jet fuel in Delhi has risen from USD 1,023 per kl in April to USD 1,291 per kl in August, a

less delays and hijackings of the planes. By the mid–1980s the fleet started was flying close to three million passengers. Turkish Airlines eventually

Just like any other business the airlines has seen a number of ups and downs throughout the years. In 2001 for example, they underwent an
economic crisis like most business did because of the economic crisis that was experienced in the world. In 2003 things were also bad as they had
to close some of their routes because of the war in Iraq. New competitors were also a challenge because the market became so stiff. It was publicly

The Hospitality And Tourism Industry
The hospitality and tourism industry plays an essential role in global growth around the world. One of the biggest key players is an airline industry.
An airline industry contains both hospitality and tourism. One of the key players to this industry is the cabin crew. However, according to Laszlo "
with recent economic decline the airline industry is not in good health in terms of operation and customer service organization" said (1999). It is
therefore, important to understand that the crews must perform function as key player in an airline industry by providing various types of customer
service, safety and security threats, sales and promotion.
As cabin crews are playing a crucial role in the industry, they are to be selected carefully by the human resources. The desired corporate skills
sought for the crews are; a motivation to deliver high standard customer service, team skills and commercial awareness. In addition to these skills,
it is necessary that an individual is interviewed and upon successful application, and to satisfy all other needs for its industry. An airline cabin crews
has been playing an essential role worldwide for more than decade by comforting dozens of passengers around the world. The definition of providing
comfort to guests is, to also make a profit but as well as to make customers feel satisfied just like staying at a hotel. Perhaps this might be the reason
why an airline attracts many people around the world. As a result of the popularity

The EU economy is expected to grow further over the next decade as more countries join the union – especially considering that the new States are
usually poorer than the EU average, and hence the expected fast GDP growth will help achieve the dynamic of the united Europe. It is estimated that
the Eurozone will grow around 2.6 per cent this year (2006), on a par with other industrialized nations such as the United States at 2.6% (Q2 2006)
and 1.6 (Q3 2006).
GDP: $12.82 trillion. (2006) GDP/capita: $18,056. Annual growth of per capita GDP: 2.8% (2006). Income of top 10%: 27.5%. Unemployment 8.8%
(2006).
Opportunities:
1. GDP is growing; opportunity to take advantage of that growth.
2. The EU has made doing business across borders easier with standardized currency and regulation.
3. Inflation rates are steady along with currency rates; currency exchange risk will be lower.
Threats:
1. The European economy is not growing as fast as developing nations such as China.
2. The EU has a lot of power over the economy in terms of currency rates and regulations.
Political/Legal Segment
The European Union has evolved over time from a primarily economic union to an increasingly political one. This trend is highlighted by the
increasing number of policy areas that fall within EU competence: political power has tended to shift upwards from the Member States to the EU. The

Marketing Plan For Airline Industry

Industry Profile
Airline industry is one of the major transportation systems in Canada because of the total area of the country. Most of the people in Canada prefer to
take flights when visiting other provinces because of the distance involved to make the trip and the weather plays an important part of the decision as
well. Despite the necessity for air travel, the fares of the airlines are very expensive in Canada and because of these people are opting out.
One of the main factors that the flights are so expensive in Canada is because there is no competition of the major airlines. There are really only two
major airlines that cover most of the routes with in Canada. Air Canada and West Jet are the two major companies in... Show more content on

important role in this situation.
6th Freedom Traffic
International expansion is one of the main motives of the airline industry in the present market. Every airline wants a growth in their 6th Freedom
traffic potential. 6th Freedom traffic is where airlines can carry passengers from one foreign country to another foreign country while making a
stop in the airlines country of origin. For example, Air Canada is can operate a flight from India to USA if there is a stop in Canada. This will be
really helpful for the customers because there travelling time will be less and there will be less connecting flights to take and the airlines can offer
customers tickets at a lower cost because the airlines operating cost will be reduced because of this system. Since 2010, Air Canada's 6th freedom
traffic revenue rose by 75% and that is approximately $250 million US Dollars. And

Analysis Of Jetblue Airways And British Airways
The objective of this research paper is to describe how the 21St Century utilized concepts , such as corporate social responsibility in relation with triple
bottom line, to shift the airline industry into becoming a forward–thinking industry embedding sustainability into their core of business operations to
create shared value for business and society. I will define corporate social responsibility and areas of social responsibility in the airline industry at the
beginning of the paper and proceed with how it ties into the bottom line concept. Next, I will give brief examples of airlines such as JetBlue Airways,
and British Airways how they apply these concepts into their mission. In conclusion, I will express my own thoughts about how different generations
based their purchases and career decisions on these concepts.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CRM)
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) refers to business practices involving initiatives that benefit society (2). CSR may also be referred to as

for customer because they couldn't use the facilities in airplane which is not enroll in the membership of airline alliance. (Kuzminykh and Zufan.2014)

What Is Deutsche Lufthansa Competitive Advantage
Deutsche Lufthansa AG is the leading airline company in terms of passage and fleet size not only in Germany but also in the whole of Europe. Given
the many challenges posed by the general, industrial and competitive environment of the airline industry, Lufthansa and other existing airlines decided
to form an alliance, know as Star Alliance. This alliance was founded on the common understanding that it is quite unfeasible for a single company to
stay alive in a global network if not part of an alliance. This cooperative strategy serves as a mechanism for the Aviation Group to enter the
international market swiftly, and with greater impact through the support of the alliance. Since mergers are illegal across country boarders the strategic
response by Lufthansa was to create a legally independent company that shares some of its resources and capabilities to develop a competitive
advantage in the passage segment of the airline market globally. This competitive advantage and the benefits of networks effects, result in an increasing
offer of customer flights, better service, more destinations, better flight connections, in addition to addressing further needs within the passenger airline
segment. Lufthansa is therefore able to increase value and reduce cost and thus maximize gains through its cooperative international strategy by sharing
customer information with other partners as well as resources including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lufthansa should establish some common monitoring and incentives programs within the alliance to strengthen the cooperation and extract as many
benefits as possible from economies of scale, while working on maintaining its internal competitive advantages and keeping up its high reputation.

As part of marketing in business, strategy is a leading light because it is a plan of action designed and followed by businesses to become successful.
Three companies in the same industry can offer similar products in a completely different ways. Branding is everything and understanding what
customers want determines a company's brand position. Airline companies are great examples of numerous companies offering the same product.
Major differences in brand and quality management come when comparing three airline companies that offer the same product such as Spirit Airlines,
Jet Blue and American Airlines. Although their product is the same, the processes to marketing their product are completely different. Spirit Airlines is

As of October 2013, JetBlue serves 84 destinations in 24 states, and 12 countries in the Caribbean, South America and Latin America. JetBlue is one
of the largest airlines in the Northeast United States. In 2007, USA Today reported that JetBlue planed to enter into a partnership with Irish flagship
carrier Aer Lingus. The alliance will facilitate easy transfers to both airlines' customers, but will not allow either airline to sell seats on the other
airline, unlike traditional code share alliances, meaning customers must make individual reservations with both carriers, the newspaper said. With a
goal of improving flight experience, JetBlue became the first airline to offer all passengers personalized in–flight entertainment. In 2000, flat–screen
monitors were installed in every seatback which allows customers live access to over 20 DIRECTV channels at no additional cost. American Airlines
serves four continents, trailing Delta Air Lines and United Airlines, which both serve six. This company has been in the industry for 69 years. It is

Due to overcapacities in the airline business, made evident by the major financial difficulties of Sabena and Swiss Air in the last months, most
companies are therefore trying to define, acquire and keep those customer groups most important to them. Recently the nature of competition has
changed. The creation of Star Alliance and oneworld has resulted in more cooperation between the members and fiercer competition with other alliances
and their member companies. A major obstacle to comparing companies within the airline market is the highly regulated market structure, which allows
for only imperfect competition. Often the national carriers are seen as symbols of national pride and enjoy a privileged status domestically.

Emirates Airlines Mission Statement
Introduction
The company that I have chosen is Emirates Airline.
The foundation of Emirates Airline started in the offices of Dnata, when in 1978 Mr Maurice Flanagan became the director and general manager of
Dnata.
Dnata is a company offering aircraft ground handling, cargo, travel, and flight catering services across five continents.
In 1984 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Mr Flanagan discussed launching an airline in Dubai and with just a 10–man team he
produced the business plan for the new airline.
The names he proposed were Dubai Airlines or Emirates airline.
Finally the decision was made and Sheik Mohammed opted for the Emirates Airlines and decided to launch it on top of the Dnata, which was already

Even though Emirates Airlines has had some crisis during their evolution such as the 2001 terrorist attacks which led to the cancellation of all flights
going to America.
Emirates Airlines have always resisted the temptation of merging and acquisitions.
The main reason of avoiding merging and acquisition is mainly because it would lower their flexibility and future decisions would have been done with
outside partners.
I believe that this ambition of looking at the future has brought them even more up in the airlines markets.
Free Competition
Emirates Airlines have also decided to allow free competition.
This decision has brought benefits for the Airline because the fact of raising competition would mean raise the standards.
By doing this they have putted them in a great position because I believe that they are the leaders in continuous innovation and development within the
industry.
Courage
Another main strength of Emirates Airline is their courage in such market and the fact they were never scared of the other competing airlines, such as

Our study shows that EU deregulation altered the five competitive forces in European airline industry and in turn this fostered entrepreneurship and
innovation, as a reaction of firms to adapt to the change in their context. The reaction of Ryanair and SAS through entrepreneurial and innovative
behaviour was different due to the differences in their business model. We argue that the removal of barriers to new entrants and the increased rivalry
between firms were the main forces that fostered entrepreneurship and innovation. We predict that if further EU deregulation comes (as it is the trend)
this will generate more opportunities to entrepreneurship and innovation like it generated in the past.

The 9/11terrorist attacks seriously affected air travel and led to the demise of many airlines. Scores of airline industry workers still need to regain what
they lost in both wages and benefits, and are hopeful of an industry turnaround this year (USA Today, 2009). The same negotiations are ongoing with
the pilots' unions also. Scores of pilots are adding on the pressure by threatening to interrupt flights if not afforded with new contracts. Pilots at United
Airlines have recently been accused of law breaking when they decide on a "sick–out" in 2008 to disrupt flights and force United into continuing
negotiations, the animosity still lingers today (USA Today, 2009). As of January 2003, the airline industry has lost 75,000 jobs (USA Today, 2009).
Currently no carriers are in the clear. Though most of the major commercial airlines have discussions about mergers, most believe that their futures
are very bleak (USA Today, 2009). Jerry Glass, a consultant and previous airline executive, believes each side would benefit if airlines gave workers
lower salaries in conjunction with bonuses only if the airline shows a profit, "it's a common–sense approach," Glass says (USA Today, 2009).

According to Cambridge Dictionary (2016), strategic analysis is the examination of how successfully or not an organization operates and uses its
resources, in order to achieve something over time. After obtaining information about the operations of the organization, with the use of certain
techniques, we can identify and adjust matters that must be solved. One essential technique which firstly imposed from Alfred Humphrey in the 60's to
70's, as stated by Boyd(2005), concerns a discussion of an organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, which is called SWOT
Analysis ( Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). SWOT analysis, therefore, is a strategic planning tool used to analyze an enterprise's
internal and external environment when it is called upon to make a decision in relation to the objectives it has set and in order to achieve

To put it more simply, being a leader you should be inspiring and always in the center of action (Stogdill, R. M.1974). Regarding leadership styles,
which are recurring patterns of acts presented by a leader, it is easy to talk about the classic leadership styles which are autocratic, human–relations,
laissez–faire and democratic style (Goleman D. 2000). The autocratic style is based on retaining authority and information and focuses on efficiency of
operations with a command–and–control fashion. A leader with a laissez–fairre style, also known as ''hands–off'' style, shows little interest for tasks,
gives more authority to the staff and provides little or no direction leaving the decisions to the group. The democratic style, pays attention to both task
and people, encouraging and allowing the staff to promote and participate in decision making (Schermerhorn J. 2015) (Appendix

Organizational Environment And Behavior Method
Abstract
Deutsche Lufthansa AG, also known as Lufthansa (sometimes also as Lufthansa German Airlines), is the largest German airline and, when combined
with its subsidiaries, also the largest airline in Europe, both in terms of passengers carried and fleet size. In this paper, I will initially examine Lufthansa
organizational environment and behavior method. I will start of by analyzing the collaborative work environment, specifically discussing collaboration
techniques, interaction between leaders and followers, and supportive communication. Therefore, covering the decision–making environment, risk
management, and how the organization resolves conflict through the strategic negotiation process. Secondly, I will examine its approach to accomplish
team–building and drive innovation.
Introduction
Today, 90 years ago, the merging of Junkers Luftverkehr AG and German Aero Lloyd AG on January 6, 1926 in Berlin, was the birth of the German

the airline has a story of pioneering spirit, expansionism, visions, and is marked by continuous improvements and innovations. Lufthansa is one of the
largest and best–known airlines in the world. The cooperate headquarters sits in Cologne with major airport hubs located in Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich,

  • 1. Jetblue Airlines, By Utah Entrepreneur David Needleman The airline currently known as JetBlue airlines was created in 1999 by Utah entrepreneur David Needleman with the goal of bringing humanity back to the airline industry. Needleman started an innovative airline called Morris Air, and was the first airline to successfully utilize a ticketless reservation system, and the basic structure was to provide consumers with excellent service but low fares. This airline reported making over 20 million in profits in 2003, but decided to sell this new airline to Southwest airlines, and signed a five year no competition agreement (JetBlue airlines, 2008). The design of the new JetBlue airline would use aircraft with one cabin class, and incorporate an in flight entertainment system with over 24 satellite television channels and web services, as well as movies in the headrest of every seat. The choice was also made not to serve meals, but offer gourmet chips and refreshments. The cabin also offers larger leather seats with increased legroom, larger overhead bins, and JetBlue was one of the first airlines to convert to a cashless system for drinks and food. The company began flying in 2000, with only two leased Airbus A320's, and its first route was from New York's John F. Kennedy airport to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The airline was given 75 takeoff slots in JFK airport, and has been working there way up to one of the most successful airlines. The airlines goals were to beat their competitors by 65%, and increase the positive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For the comparison of Doganis? five key product features, the Ireland based low–cost carrier, Ryanair will be compared to the German based, full–service airline, Lufthansa. Both airlines will be using a city–pair from Dublin to Frankfurt for the basis of the comparison in airfare. Since, Ryanair only offers a single fare for their seating class which is Economy, that is in accordance with most low–cost models and Lufthansa offers First, Business, and Economy classes, only Lufthansa?s economy class pricing will be used is used in this paper. Lufthansa uses a three tiers system for their economy class, with each tiers offering different cost structures based on the prices of the fare, which is based on options available. The tiers consist of Economy Light, Economy Classic, and Economy Flex, to stay close in accordance with Ryanair, the Economy Light class offered by the carrier will be used since the cost structure for this seating allows the passenger the same amenities as the low–cost carrier. In the airline industry pricing is vital. This type of product and service is one of the only key features that are planned and combined together so that the airline can generate demand (Doganis, 2010). However, by the time I was six, I had already been on more than 40 flights. With each travel time being an average of four hours, that means that by the time I was ten, I had flown a total amount of roughly eleven and a half days, more than enough time to become an expert at boarding a plane. All this time spent around these giant flying machines at 39,000 feet sparked my interest in them, and more specifically how they worked. This interest later broadened to include all types of vehicles, flying and not, as well as buildings and skyscrapers. When I was younger, I read about things such as the Titanic, U–boats, and shipwrecks of the 1800's up to the second World War. Competitive Challenges Of Lufthansa 2.1 The awareness of Star Alliance– how it is till now 2.1.1 Brand development The creation of airline alliance in the 90's was driven by new level of competitive awareness in the sky transportation field. There were many elements that influenced the decision of bounding airlines such as to gain the competitive advantages by code–sharing to make growth in market share. Many alliances were created back then, but later they consolidated and formed five big alliances that exist till today and one of those and the biggest one is Star Alliance. Business model of Star Alliance is seem to be working properly with the large area of possibility to travel and using frequent flyer programs. The biggest issue is the loss in integration between the airlines or even absents of it. For the material and immaterial benefits integration must be wide spread not only visible in small groups. To work more efficiently they should invest and make a centralized IT infrastructure for all of the systems. There were also too many cases where customer felt defrauded because of losing their baggage or being unable to enter the lounge. These examples show the failure of delivering services which were claimed by the alliance to be offered. That kind of inadequacy can cause a customer to breakdown and stop using the company's services. Start Alliance is expected to bring seamless travel environment so it should unify their operations. The focus on a value should also be taken care of. Every airline should be examine on how much value do they add to the alliance, because keeping a carrier just for the sake of having the largest number of members does not seem to be profitable. With the measuring of the worth of each airline it can be noticed which carrier fits and which would be better somewhere else. This should be done also in definitive way, because right now the added value can be seen, but it needs to be more precise. After all this would help to see clearly the benefits ... During the interview process, applicants are asked to recall incidents from previous jobs and describe how the situation was handled along with the consequences of the actions. JetBlue hired applicants who did not compromise on the safety of passengers such as a mechanic who did not certify an aircraft because it did not comply with safety standards. Acquisition M & A And Organic Growth STRATEGIC ALLIANCE: A strategic alliance is an agreement between two or more parties to pursue a set of agreed upon objectives needed while remaining independent organizations. This form of cooperation lies between Mergers & Acquisition M&A and organic growth. Partners may provide the strategic alliance with resources such as products, distribution channels, manufacturing capability, project funding, capital equipment, knowledge, expertise, or intellectual property. The alliance is cooperation or collaboration which aims for a synergy where each partner hopes that the benefits from the alliance will be greater than those from individual efforts. The alliance often involves technology transfer (access to knowledge and expertise), economic specialization, shared expenses and shared risk. INtRODUCTION: Nowadays, the commercial competition has surpassed the limits of the previous era in which dominant markets are protecting their set market shares. Mega commercial activity back then was completely regulated by the government. The United States has privatized a lot of sectors related to energy, telecommunication, and transportation sectors. In response, the USA introduced the deregulations in the aviation industry to increase the competition in the aviation market. In the past few years, the commercial air carriers have formed strategic alliances with each other which were not possible before this due to the previous regulations. The intent of the assignment was to assess the value of using a business aircraft (verses commercial aircraft, personal car, train, etc.). The researcher compared and contrasted two trip locations, with multiple variables of attendees, modes of travel, and expenses associated with each variable. Due to these facts, the calculations for the commute and parking at the airport were not fully utilized (other than displaying them on the Excel spreadsheet). Based upon previously mentioned assumptions and variables, it would cost two colleagues each 720 minutes to drive the 840 miles roundtrip to Prague from Frankfurt (Google, 2013). Assuming that one travel day would be required to drive there, and one day to drive back, each employee would drive 360 minutes (six hours) to get to the meeting in Prague. This would cost the company $480 in wages (6 hours x $80/hour = $480) per employee, per travel day, for whomever goes to the meeting. It would also cost the company $420 to pay for mileage for each vehicle that drove to Prague for the meeting (840 miles total x $0.50/mile = $420). In addition to the $960 in travel day wages (per employee), there is also the cost of wages for the day of the actual meeting. A nine hour day (0900–1800), would cost the company $720 in wages (9 hours x $80/hour = $720) per employee who attends the meeting. Seeing as every form of transportation will get the employees to the meeting at the same time, and all employees will spend the same nine hours at the meeting, this factor is really not an issue for comparison. JetBlue has great ideas on how to compete and how to be lower priced while still gaining profit. It appears that one of the available opportunities for a newly created airline would be to take on a differentiation strategy and provide its customers with unique features that larger competitors simply do not have. The bargain power of buyers is fairly high, especially within the low–cost airline industry. Customers continuously seek to purchase tickets at the lowest price possible while suppliers tend to look for ways to differentiate their service among other competitors. Moreover, the widespread use of the Internet enables customers to find the most affordable fare quickly and conveniently. Definitely, the buyers are price sensitive as far as the airline industry goes, and they are often willing to substitute services provided by one airline to purchase a ticket for less from another airline. This alliance was founded on the common understanding that it is quite unfeasible for a single company to stay alive in a global network if not part of an alliance. This cooperative strategy serves as a mechanism for the Aviation Group to enter the international market swiftly, and with greater impact through the support of the alliance. Since mergers are illegal across country boarders the strategic response by Lufthansa was to create a legally independent company that shares some of its resources and capabilities to develop a competitive advantage in the passage segment of the airline market globally. This competitive advantage and the benefits of networks effects, result in an increasing offer of customer flights, better service, more destinations, better flight connections, in addition to addressing further needs within the passenger airline segment. Lufthansa is therefore able to increase value and reduce cost and thus maximize gains through its cooperative international strategy by sharing customer information with other partners as well as resources including ... Airline companies are great examples of numerous companies offering the same product. The alliance will facilitate easy transfers to both airlines' customers, but will not allow either airline to sell seats on the other airline, unlike traditional code share alliances, meaning customers must make individual reservations with both carriers, the newspaper said. With a goal of improving flight experience, JetBlue became the first airline to offer all passengers personalized in–flight entertainment. Dnata is a company offering aircraft ground handling, cargo, travel, and flight catering services across five continents. In 1984 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Mr Flanagan discussed launching an airline in Dubai and with just a 10–man team he produced the business plan for the new airline. I believe that this ambition of looking at the future has brought them even more up in the airlines markets. Free Competition Emirates Airlines have also decided to allow free competition. This decision has brought benefits for the Airline because the fact of raising competition would mean raise the standards.

The reaction of Ryanair and SAS through entrepreneurial and innovative behaviour was different due to the differences in their business model. We argue that the removal of barriers to new entrants and the increased rivalry between firms were the main forces that fostered entrepreneurship and innovation. We predict that if further EU deregulation comes (as it is the trend) this will generate more opportunities to entrepreneurship and innovation like it generated in the past. Weaknesss And Strengths, Opportunities And Threats According to Cambridge Dictionary (2016), strategic analysis is the examination of how successfully or not an organization operates and uses its resources, in order to achieve something over time. After obtaining information about the operations of the organization, with the use of certain techniques, we can identify and adjust matters that must be solved. One essential technique which firstly imposed from Alfred Humphrey in the 60's to 70's, as stated by Boyd(2005), concerns a discussion of an organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, which is called SWOT Analysis ( Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). SWOT analysis, therefore, is a strategic planning tool used to analyze an enterprise's internal and external environment when it is called upon to make a decision in relation to the objectives it has set and in order to achieve them(Schermerhorn 2015).... The autocratic style is based on retaining authority and information and focuses on efficiency of operations with a command–and–control fashion. A leader with a laissez–fairre style, also known as ''hands–off'' style, shows little interest for tasks, gives more authority to the staff and provides little or no direction leaving the decisions to the group.
