The document summarizes an action/crime film opening scene created by the author. The opening scene shows a man being chased by two gangsters on a quiet street. Background music builds suspense as the man runs away in multiple shots. It's implied at the end that the man is shot or kidnapped. The author analyzes how they used camera angles, shots, and editing software to film the scene and discusses distributing the film through Lionsgate since it's an action crime genre appealing to male audiences aged 14-55. The author reflects on improving their directing and editing skills through creating this project.
2. Action has been a successful film genre since film began. These movies usually
overwhelm the audience and are usually successful. My film opening is based
on the genre Action and Crime.
The opening scene shows a guy being chased by two men who appear to be
some kind of gangsters.
This sort of scene is common in a lot of crime action movies.
3. Music is very essential to create the right atmosphere for the movie
scene. I’ve added back ground music which creates suspense in the
viewer’s mind.
Though when the scene starts there is no music, that is to give the effect
that everything is calm and then we see the guy run.
4. And that is when the action music starts playing in
the background.
The guy is shown running. In order to keep the
suspense, I showed the guy running using
multiple other shots also.
5. This is to keep the audience’s attention. In order to
create a climax and suspense.
This is commonly seen in various action crime
movies.
The attire of the guy gives off the impression that
the scene is taking place out on a quiet street that
the two other guys are probably gangsters.
6. At the end of the scene it is implied that the guy is
shot, he either got to get killed or got kidnapped
perhaps. This idea has been inspired by the movie
scenes of various action films.
7. The movie’s genre is action/crime which would
gain the attention of male audiences. The
appropriate age group would be 14-55. As action
movies are enjoyed by men. So it’ll be quiet
famous. The demand for action movies is growing
wider, crime movies are also greatly enjoyed.
What mainly guys want to see is a lot of car chases
and killer action. Which my movie is all about so it
would be watched by a lot people.
8. Since my movie is an action crime film, it would be
distributed by a mini major company like lionsgate
since Lions gate entertainment is known for
distributing action films like the hunger games
and transporter tribology.
So I would go for that. Other than that my movie
would be distributed online via social media.
9. Before I was given this assignment I had very little
understanding of how to properly direct a film. But this
project has helped me understand how to properly
function the technologies that were available to me. Like
how to use different camera angles in the movie scene. I’ve
also used to wide shots to give an over look of what is
happening. And I’ve used multiple shots to make sure the
scene does not get dragged. The wide shots help
understand what is actually going on. Since it’s a chase
scene I’ve understood that wide shots give off a better
impact so I’ve used them. My editing skills also improved,
I used the software windows movie maker which I found
was very easy to use for editing. So that helped me edit and
give the special slow motion effect to my film.
10. The equipment used for filming this project
was a professional camera, Canon dslr 60D and
a tripod was used to film certain shots.
11. However I didn’t use a tripod for filming all the shots,
some of of the shots were taken while I was driving the car
and the actors were running.
The software for editing the film is windows movie maker,
which I found very simple and easy to use. I was able to
merge scenes easily and along side with that was able to fit
the sound tracks and effects easily too. Throughout our
school year I had worked on other video projects too, so
this wasn’t my first time making a video.
12. This was also not my first time making a blog for
posting videos. I manage a facebook page (SALTS
STUDIOS) with a group of friends where we make
and post videos. SO managing my blog was rather
easy since I have past experience.
