Focus group results and summary
1. Focus group results and summary
We created a PowerPoint presentation that we presented to our focus group โ
males and females, aged 15-19. We pitched our ideas to them, regarding our
storyline, costumes for the characters and locations for the music video. To get there
feedback, after all of the ideas for each section were pitched, we asked them to
vote for one. Here are our results within a summary:
Story line โ
Our music video is going to have mainly a narrative structure, with some studio
features. The storyline that we are going to follow is that a man sees a woman at the
train station everyday on his way to work in the morning. He likes her that much that
one day he decides to skip work and catch her train so that he can get to know her
โ she turns out to be the perfect woman he is dreaming about. We like that our
focus group chose this idea because it fits the lyrics about him finding his ideal
woman.
Location โ
To follow the storyline, the location has been chosen to be mainly at a local train
station. This makes sense as the storyline is focusing on falling in love at a train station.
Our focus group also said that they liked the idea of having the studio location. We
decided to include this; however it wonโt be our main focus.
Costume โ
There will be two characters in our music video โ a male and female โ therefore we
had to cater costume ideas for both genders. For each gender, we showed a
slightly casual and relaxed look as well as a dressed up costume. The focus group
chose a casual costume for the male and a dressed up costume for the female. We
are going to dress the woman in leather, as the lyrics mention this repeatedly. We
think that this contrast in costumes will look good because the male will become
interested in the female because she looks nice and is presented in an attractive
way. To start the music video we are going to have to show that they see each
other every day therefore more than one costume is going to be used, however we
will still follow the feedback.
