What is the genre?
- Drama/mystery
Who/what is it about?
- A girl who develops amnesia and has to overcome the problems that
come with it.
Where is it set?
- The majority of the shots are on a train, but the memories are set in
various different locations.
What are the themes?
- The main theme is mystery, what is wrong with her? How did she
develop amnesia? Did she have an accident?
Why would the target audience like it/pay to see it?-
There are lots of questions to be asked which is always popular with
an audience as they feel included within the plot.
4. THE OPENING
SEQUENCE
How does it relate to the rest of the film?-
The first few seconds set up the questions that are asked through the rest of the film. The opening sequence relates to the
rest of the film by showing different ways on how she tries to recover her memory. It hints how bad her diagnosis is.
Does it signify the genre?-
It shows a real life situation that can affect anyone which signifies drama. Mystery is shown when the train noise and voices
over power the scene and hopefully makes the audience intrigued into what's going on?
Does it introduce character and setting?-
We see a hospital building which makes us realise something is wrong, we see many shots of the girl and her memories in
Southend and at home and school.
What happens?
A girl comes out of the hospital and gets onto a train to go to a counseling session when she receives a phone call getting
told her diagnosis, previously in the hospital she got told ways to help recover her memory so on the train she is going
through her scrapbook of her memories she has collected since she was younger so on her journey we see her memories
recreated.
What is the style/mood?
The mood is quite a sad one as we see a girl facing a huge challenge in her life.
Does it demonstrate skills in use of dialogue, continuity, sound and light?-
As for dialogue it will be limited but what we do have will be effective as a voice over of the characters thought. We will use
different lightings to create different moods and tones.
Is it an interesting/ engaging idea?-
We believe it is as we haven’t seen anything like this before. Films that revolve around amnesia are normally action packed
or love story’s, as seen from our film research.
5. PRACTICALITIES
Actors-
We only have one main character within our opening scene.
Location-
The majority will be on a public train but some will be at a train station. We may need to get permission
to film at these locations.
Mise En Scene-
We have thought about some shots and so far have a variety of shots; low, high, tracking. We will have a
low key lighting throughout the majority of the film however the memories she is thinking of will be in a
much higher key to change the tone. Her facial expressions will be mostly sad and confused. The
costumes will be everyday wear as we want to portray a normal day.
Effects, lighting and editing-
During editing we may add lighting effects to some shots if they aren’t in the right lighting for the themes.
We will add the voice overs in during editing aswell.
Music-
The music will be a piano as Katie’s brother plays the piano and can make us an original tune that fits
exactly with our genre.
Time-
We have managed our time so we spend around a week planning, we then scheduled 3 days for filming
and the rest is editing as we want to spend the most time on this.
Budget-
The only money we have to spend is on train fairs to and from Southend and buying a scrapbook from
the art department. We will wear our own clothes and resources.
