2. Technology Integration
• Often times when thinking about
technology integration within a classroom
one does not think about the benefits it
may hold for right triangle trigonometry.
• However, instead of having students draw
many different triangles to practice the
Pythagorean theorem it is much more
beneficial to use a program such as Cabri
Geometry where student’s can
manipulate the triangle using different
angles and measurement.
• Not only that, but with technology
graphing common trigonometric
equations can become much easier.
3. Internet Content
• The internet offers a wide array of programs and
resources that can help students gain hands on
experience with the real world uses of right triangle
trigonometry. In addition to using education
programs there are countless numbers of blogs,
podcasts, and videos dedicated to this subject
• The next three slides are an examples of some of
these resources.
6. Kahn Academy Videos
• This video is a great introduction for my student’s to
get a better handle on the subject of right triangle
trigonometry and the Pythagorean theorem. Click
the picture to go to the link.
7. Internet Resources
• The internet provide a wide array of reliable
resources from government and private
organizations that show the relationship of right
triangle trigonometry and the real world.
• The next two slides are examples of a few reliable
organizations that present this right angle
trigonometry as it relates to their organization.
8. Some examples
• NASA
• This link provides an introduction on right triangle
trigonometry as well as the ways in which it relates
to air crafts and propulsion.
• Khan Academy
• The Khan Academy is a non profit organization that
offers information and tutorials on a variety of
subjects including trigonometry and geometry.
9. More Examples!
• Yay Math!
• The YAY MATH video project is a free service
dedicated to meeting the growing need for math
success. YAY MATH is a video lesson series filmed in
a live classroom, with real student interaction.
• Yay Math has videos with attached worksheets for
virtually all middle and high school math subjects.
11. Teacher Resources
• EdHelper
• This site lets me access an array of different
worksheets and teaching materials related to right
triangle trigonometry.
• Discovery Education
• This is a link to a trigonometry related scramble
word puzzle that my students could do in their free
time at the end of class.
12. More Teacher Resources
• Teachers First
• This link gives access to numerous projects,
worksheets, and lesson plans that can be used
during a class on right triangle trigonometry.
• Awesome Library
• This website has a multitude of resources for
teachers teaching a class on right triangle
trigonometry including lesson plans, worksheets,
multimedia tutorials, and diagrams.
13. Subject Specific Resources
• Interactive Math Online
• This link provides access to an interactive
trigonometry course that can be helpful for
students who need extra help.
• Slide Share
• I can also post this PowerPoint on Slide Share so it
can be accessible to everyone!
14. Internet Uses
• Interactive Websites
A+ Math
• This website offers my students many math games
that will allow them to practice some simple math
that they may be struggling with.
• There is a wide variety of games so that they will
never get bored!
15. Internet Uses Cont.
• Online Projects
• GlobalSchoolNet
• This website offers a wide variety of projects on may
different subjects and topics available to both
teachers and students.
• Students and teachers are able to post future,
present, and past projects so the list is always
growing!
16. Web 2.0
• Quizinator
• Using Quizinator, teachers can create, store, and
print worksheets, study sheets, exams and quizzes
online. This application is designed specifically for
teachers, instructors, and homeschoolers.
• In my classroom this application can be used as an
archive for my students to check previous exams or
print out a new one to study off of.
• It can also be used to house bonus materials and
worksheets not distributed in class for extra studying
or practice.
17. Rubrics and Assessment
• Rubistar
• Rubrics are useful in every subject and are an
effective way to measure your students learning
objectively.
• Using this website I am able to gain access to many
different pre-made rubrics for projects and
worksheets that relate to right triangle trigonometry.
• It also provides an easy way to customize and
organize my own specific rubric.
Editor's Notes
This is an example of a set of podcasts that goes through many different topics dealing with trigonometry and geometry.http://trigpapapodcasts.blogspot.com/
This blog provides an array of programs that use trigonometric concepts to form fun games. This blog provides in introduction to computer programming as it relates to trigonometry and other mathematical concepts.http://inventwithpython.com/blog/2012/07/18/using-trigonometry-to-animate-bounces-draw-clocks-and-point-cannons-at-a-target/
1.) How would this diagram/GO be used in an actual lesson?I would present my class this graphic organizer as an introduction to trigonometric equations. Then, I would print out a copy for each of my students to put in their notes so they can have this graph as a simple reminder. 2.) How does this visual enhance student understanding of the topic? This graph is great because it clearly reveals the opposite, hypotenuse, and adjacent lines with an arrow and a blue line to represent it. Because of the color the students will clearly be able to identify which line is which and are less likely to get confused by their notes.
