1. Double Page Spread Photo shoot
Images
Here are some images from the photo shoot I did for
my double page spread. The models in these images
are from my college. I chose to use these four males
because I thought their look suited the ‘indie rock’
look and as a group they all looked good together.
These are the three images I most liked from the
photo shoot. I liked most the image with the tick on
because I thought that the camera shot was
different from any I already have featuring in my
magazine. All four boys facial expressions are very
serious and look stern. This look will convey the
‘moody’ side of the band and therefore giving off
the impression of the band being a indie rock band.
2. Rule of Thirds
Here you can see how I have taken into consideration the rule of thirds when taking this
image. By doing this I made sure all the eye levels of the boys were near enough level as
well as the shoulder height and the direction they are all looking in isn’t completely
different but they also don’t look like they are all looking at the same spot. I got the idea
for this image from looking at images of the band The Maccabees. On images I have seen
of them are very minimalistic with clothing that pretty plain as well as everything being
plain. They very rarely seem to use props in the images they are in.
3. Editing Process
Step 1: Firstly I opened the main
image I chose to use on my
double page in camera raw.
Step 2: I then went on to using the spot
healing tool that covered all flaws and
discolouring of the face to make a more
even skin tone
Step 3: I made the
contrast of this
image as high as I
could so that the
image looked strong
and because the
contrast of the image
was high I also had to
higher the brightness
of the image.
Step 4: Then I added altered the colour balance of
the image by increasing the ‘cyan’ tone.
4. Before & After
Here is the before and after editing process for the main image of my
double page spread.
