Verbs that take infinitives
Verb + to infinitives – afford, agree, choose, decide,
  expect, help, learn, manage, need, offer, promise,
  refuse, want, would like, would prefer, etc.
          e.g. They agreed to meet at 6 p.m.
Verb + object + to infinitive – advise, allow, beg,
  expect, invite, need, order, tell, want, would like,
  would prefer, etc.
 e.g. Jane advised her brother to follow her advice.
Verbs + object + to infinitive – help, let, make
         e.g. Tom helped me do the project.
         My daddy let his son go to the disco.
         My brother made me do the dishes.
Some verbs can be followed by either an infinitive
or a gerund, but the meaning is different.

         She tried cooking this new dish.
             (experimented = mėgino)

Firefighters tried to jack up the car and take off
a wheel.
   (did their best = stengėsi /dėjo visas pastangas)
Some verbs can be followed by either an infinitive
or a gerund, but the meaning is different.

                She stopped smoking.
         ( finish / give up = metė, nustojo)



       On his way home he stopped to smoke.
   (interrupt an activity to do smth = sustojo, kad
                       parūkytų)
Some verbs can be followed by either an infinitive
 or a gerund, but the meaning is different.

They forgot buying bread. She remembered reading
(a memory = pamiršo, kad the poem.
jau nupirko)              (a memory = prisiminė,
                          kad jau skaitė)

They forgot to buy bread.   She remembered to read
(smth you need to do =      the poem.
