receive. For example, at the end of the week each child gets to pick from a prize box depending on the number of points they got through class dojo.
Other teachers may take a different approach, and include class dojo with intrinsic intentions. For example, wanting the students to want to behave well
for themselves, and not because of a tangible reward.
Class dojo can be problem or solution based, depending on the teacher. Class dojo allows you to clearly see problem behaviors based on where
students lose points. For example, calling out in class, or not completing homework. The teachers, parents, and students can clearly see where the
problem behaviors are. When it comes to solutions to the problem behaviors, the teachers and the students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For starters, it is appealing and exciting for students to help create their own safe pouch and kangaroo puppet. Through this system, children are also
practicing important life skills ( being helpful, patient, careful, responsible, and respectful). These are skills children at young ages need to learn to
understand and practice daily. They are also essential for keeping them safe in school. Another strength is that it is clear to students when they are

William Shakespeare 's Twelfth Night
People tend to judge others based on many aspects. Sometimes they may try to force people to act upon certain rules that define their place in society.
They often try to meet expectations that society has made for them based on gender and social status. William Shakespeare reinforces these ideas in his
play Twelfth Night, which introduces many meaningful messages about situations that still occur in society today. He clearly develops important
themes worthy of analysis. A few of these strong themes are about stereotypes and society's expectations and rules, which he proves to be irrelevant
most of the time. Many situations in the play falsify commonly held stereotypes about gender and social status by showing how they are sometimes
invalid. He also shows how these stereotypes can affect the way people behave towards and judge others. In Twelfth Night, Shakespeare
contradicts vapid stereotypes about gender. Through Viola's disguise as Cesario, he is able to prove that a woman is able to fulfill a man 's role in
society. She is able to fool the other characters and is even able to woo another woman. This reinforces ideas about how invalid the rules and
regulations society has made since Viola easily broke through them. Later on in the story, Sir Andrew challenges Viola to a duel. Viola expects Sir
Andrew to be a great fighter, and he expects the same from her. This creates a comedic situation since they both are too afraid of each other to engage
in the fight. (3.4, 223–298)

A Brief Note On Behaviorism And Its Effect On An Individual
Behaviourism Behaviourism is an approach used to assess animal and human behaviour. It relies on the assumption that the behaviour of an animal or
human is the result of history of that particular individual. Indeed, reinforcements and punishments are expected to influence the behaviour of an
individual by teaching him how to react or conduct him in a specific situation. The main advantage of the behaviouristic approach is the fact that it
relies on observable behaviours. This eventually permits the collection of data from research and hence, it becomes possible to determine whether the
behaviouristic approach has a positive impact on an individual. On the long–term, it can be possible to condition an individual by slightly altering the
stimuli as well the feedback. In doing so, it is expected that the conditioning will eventually occur. Another advantage of behaviourism would be the
possibility to treat children suffering from behavioural disorders. By using the system of feedbacks, the children can be rewarded for their good
behaviours and can be punished in the scenarios where they still misbehave. However, various studies have demonstrated that mostly younger children
will be responsive to this approach. In the end, the behavioural approach still remains an essential tool for the therapy of children with behavioural
disorders. The first disadvantage of behaviourism is that it completely ignores the characteristics of each individual. The human brain is complex and it

Who is Smarter? Essay
Who is Smarter?
Who's smarter? There have been several tests given to young boys and girls to test their intelligence, the turnout has been that girls' overall average
intelligence is higher than that of boys. Are girls just naturally born smarter or do the teachers have something to do with it?
In David Thoma's article, The Mind of Man, he writes about how he believes that women teachers are the reason why boys score lower on tests and
don't do as well as girls in school. "At kindergarten and primary school level, in which little girls out–perform the boys, the vast majority of teachers
are female."(121) He focuses on the fact that boys are more rebellious and outgoing than girls. Thomas believes that becasue most boys have ... Show

I agree with Thomas as far as knowing that boys are usually the ones known for being disruptive and aggressive in class, but there are always
exceptions. I don't agree with the notion that boys score worse on tests and at school in general if they have female teachers. As I was growing up
I only had four male teachers between elementary and middle school. In elementary school I found it hard and intimidating to talk to my male
teachers, but neither did I see the boys in my class finding it easy to talk to them. These male teachers were very seious and didn't have much of a
personality. Although most boys are not really talkative even if the male teacher does have a personality. As far as I can remember, even under
male instruction, the boys were still the troublemakers and the girls still did better in class. The boys looked forward to recess and lunch time. The
difference that I see now between having a male or female teacher is that with a female teacher I felt more comfortable going and talking to her.
They have the motherly instincts. I don't remember every seeing one of my female teachers treat a boy different just because they were boys or had
behavior problems. They were just as welcomed as girls to come and talk to them.
Working with children now as a T.A. I can see the different behavioral patterns with some boys and girls. I am currently working with a kindergarten
class made up of fifteen girls and seven boys. In this

Disruptin Billy Case Summary
There is no doubt that every induvial is unique and that there is no a one size fit all intervention or treatment plan that would help individuals to
achieve their desire goals. The same way we are all different and tend to organize and fix things on a different way, clinicians use different approaches
based on their theoretical orientation, to provide a more suitable counseling process to their clients. Regardless the interventions or approaches used by
the therapist, there are matters that do not should vary in order to provide the more appropriate outcome for the client. For example, aiming for a good
therapeutic alliance is an important key on the counseling process regarding not only the interventions used by the clinician, but also any difference
between client and clinician in terms of culture, ethnic, and/or socio–economy backgrounds (Hooley, Butcher, Nock, & Mineka, 2017). Summary of a

approving on every behavior Billy did, Billy's treatment plan included helping parents to identify, define, and describe in a very detail way between
behaviors that were disruptive and appropriate. After identifying behaviors between disruptive and appropriate Billy's parents and teacher were
instructed to ignore Billy every time he would engage in disruptive behavior, but devote their attention at those times to children who were behaving

Reflective Essay On Student Behavior
Initial thoughts: Ms. Rollison needs to understand that students behave differently which will require a different way to approach their behavior. In
most cases, when a student is acting out it is due to something stressful they are experiencing. A young student does not communicate their wants and
needs well, this causes them to express their emotion is not the best manner. When children need are not met they will misbehave more frequently.
Therefore, Ms. Rollison will need to understand and have patience with the student because there is always a reason behind why the student is
misbehaving.
Final thoughts: Students behavior can be influenced by many things such as their cultural influences, living situation, and what they are exposed to. Ms.
Rollison needs to be aware of the cultural influence that affects the student's behavior. Every culture is different and it influences how a student will
interact and respond to authority. Culture can influence the way they talk with their peers, views on sharing, and the way they act all around. Having
many students with different culture background leads to a diverse class with different views on how they act toward their peers.
Ms. Rollison needs to approach the classroom with an open mind and interact with the kids and learn their behaviors. Moreover, she needs to learn
what impact their behavior and understand that not everybody views the world the same because outside factors play a role in the student's behavior.
Something that Ms. Rollison views as being impolite or rude, might be seen as something suitable in her student's culture. Understanding other students
culture is extremely important because when she creates her classroom management plan, she will know what will be appropriate for her students.
Question 2: What can Ms. Rollison do to increase the chances that her students will behave appropriately in class?
Initial thoughts: There is many technique Ms. Rollison can use to help with her students behaving appropriately in the classroom. One technique she
could use is at the beginning of the year ask the students what type of rule they would like to have in the classroom. The student will more likely obey
the class rules because they had a part in

Corruption In The Great Gatsby Essay
The wealthy in the late 20's was corrupt and selfish. In the Great Gatsby the upper class is shown as corruptive. The people in the upper class such as
Tom and Daisy don't really care about their actions because they feel invincible due to their amount of money and the power they have. Fitzgerald
illustrates the corruption in the way upper class is care–less about their behavior. The way people in the upper class behave toward others and in society
demonstrates how corruptive they are. At Gatsby parties the people behaved as they wanted like when Lucille was telling Jordan about going to one
of the parties "I never care what I do, so I always have a good time"(The Great Gatsby 23). In other words Lucille is just another example of the ...

Why JROTC Is Important To Me
JROTC matter to me in many ways. I feel like I have more respect after taking JROTC for awhile. It gives me better attitude and leads me with how
I'm suppose to be in public. It may be hard at first, but it's not gonna let me down. I've learned so many things in this class and it help me to be more
focus on my school works. Most of the time at home, I would behave like a kid and I like being like that. It's fun for me and it help me to make myself
happy when I feel down. I may behave like a kid but I also have an adult behavior in me. The thing is that I don't like to use my adult behavior
because most of the time, I'm in a bad mood and it messed up my attitude. Being in JROTC class is somewhat a helpful way to change my life. I

I just want to stay quiet as I always did and try to focus on studies. It's hard for me to focus because I don't have much attention this year. But being
in JROTC help me to behave myself and encourage me to be out of my shell. It is good to be brave to talk to anybody and make friends in the
company. Teamwork is the best thing for a company and it really help to accomplish anything in the company.
Around the community, my behavior is still the same as I always has it in me. I don't really have any attention this year. I would drive around but most
of the time, I lost attention on driving and I wouldn't know that I went through stop sign without stopping. When I hang out with my friends, I would
remember what I've learned in JROTC. It is the best thing to respect one another, especially the best to respect the adults.
I am really glad to be in JROTC this year. I've learned so many things about how to live in this word. It changed my thought through everything that
I haven't know about. When I think about my freshman year being in JROTC for the first time, I shouldn't have dropped out this class. Either way,
I'm happy to be back in JROTC this year and I'll look forward to have this class again next year for the last year of my high school

Gender, Social Class, And Slut Discourse On Campus
1."Good Girls": Gender, Social Class, and Slut Discourse on Campus
Authors: Elizabeth A. Armstrong, Laura T. Hamilton, Elizabeth M. Armstrong and J. Lotus Seeley
Citation: Armstrong, E. A. et al. ""Good Girls": Gender, Social Class, And Slut Discourse On Campus". Social Psychology Quarterly 77.2 (2014):
100–122. Web. 17 Feb. 2016.
The journal article addresses the issue of undergraduate women using slut shaming and the actual reason women participate in it.
2.The theory being tested in the article is that women participate in slut shaming as a way for them to distance or separate themselves from other
women. The reason they separate themselves is a way for women to categorize other women into different statuses and a way for themselves to
maintain their own status. The status classes women are categorized in are linked to the social class they are a part of. Slut shaming among women is
not necessarily based on their sexual acts, but of the way they act as a woman. The theory also states that slut shaming is also a result of male
dominance and female submission. The slut label was created by men due to a double standard created by society. The double standard is that men
are expected to act upon their sexual desires regardless of being in a relationship or having any emotional connection with the person they're engaging
that sexual act with all while women are only allowed to participate in sexual activities if they are in a loving and committed relationship. However, if

Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Support Plan
Functional behavior assessments are important to teachers and students because I believe that all children behave a certain way for a reason. Children
who have disabilities as well as children who do not have disabilities behave in inappropriate ways and a functional behavior assessment can help to
determine why so that a plan can be developed to correct the behavior. Negative behavior is a reaction to something happening in a child's life or an
imbalance in the child. A child with an imbalance will benefit from a functional behavior assessment because there is a... Show more content on

Functional behavior assessments are very useful to teachers because they will help to identify reasons for inappropriate behaviors of a student. Not
only will the assessment peal back the layers of a student's behavior but it can also reveal how to change the inappropriate behavior. Students with
disabilities will have inappropriate behaviors in order to communicate with the teacher and adults involved in their day. These behaviors could
appear for something as simple as the disabled students refuses to write down what they were asked to, because they are not able to spell or write a
word. Students without disabilities may also behave in an inappropriate way because they may not be able to spell or write a word. The functional
behavior assessment will guide a teacher to know what subject or even what part of a subject is challenging to a student.
Functional behavioral assessments have two major components, identifying and defining target behaviors as well as conducting behavior observations.
The assessment should begin with indentifying and defining targeted behaviors and the best way to do that is to conduct a formal interview of the
student. The interview should include family who are directly connected to the student's home life as well as the staff involved with the student. The
interview should reveal important things like when does the behavior occur during the day, how frequently, what the behavior is receded by, what

For Michael, life was never 1frenzied; he always seemed to have a perfect plan for everything. Every day he would wake up, go to work, and then

Cindy, was 12 years old, and she was 2dogmatic with her many beliefs. It is hard to believe someone as young as her could be so strongly
opinionated. Her opinions were not the problem though; the way she forced people to agree with her in a hateful way was the issue. She also had an
issue with spreading rumors, or 3aspersions about other girls she did not like. They also had a son named Jeff. Jeff would 4carp about even the most

Journal 2: Introduction to Psychology
Before coming into this class, I thought that psychology was working with children and see how they act, but I did not think further that psychology
was more than that. So far what I have learned in this class is that Psychology is a scientific study of the mind. The word psychology has two parts. The
first one is Psyche it means soul, and the other word is Ology it means the study of. Psychology does show us how children behave but it's not all

I am not going to say a summary, but when I was reading chapter 1 of the book, something that interested me was I reading about the 1st person to
be referred as a psychologist. His goal of psychology was to identify components of consciousness and how they both combined with each other.
They would do experiment to examine their own consciousness. There were many people that were in psychology and do experiments. Also,
what I found interesting was the skinner box. The skinner box is chamber that isolates the subject from the external environment and has a
behavior indicator such as a lever or a button. With this box they use an animal, and whenever the animal pushes the button or the lever it sends a
message of positive reinforcement of the behavior either if its food or punishment. I read this and was amazed with it. I never thought of taking
this class or was interesting taking this class. Whenever I would hear the word psychology nothing really came up to me or I would not really pay

The Role of Class in Evelina Essay
The Role of Class in Evelina
What is the definition of "class"? Burney expresses how class is viewed in the eighteenth century society through the novel Evelina. In the novel,
Burney exposes to the reader different classes of characters from the aristocrats to the merchants to the commoners and to the prostitutes. Burney also
reveals how different character defines the word "class." Madame Duval thinks money and material are sufficient qualifications to belong to the high
society. Mrs. Beaumont believes that a person's class is set by birth; the social class one is born into defines one's social status. However, Burney seems
to disagree with both of the characters. Through the character of the heroine Evelina, Burney ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He takes his revenge on Evelina as he abashes her in public and accuses her of being ill mannered. Behind her back, he destroys her reputation by
calling her a country "nobody"(pg35). Upon another encounter, he twisted her status to "toad–eater" as he deliberately inferiorities her class and
describes her as a companion to Miss Mirvan. Being vicious as he is, He believes that by establish the commonality of Evelina's social status, she will
not be able to be accepted by the elite social class. Not only did Burney point out the importance of social ranking, she, at the same time, exhibits the ill
nature of those who make use of such information regarding other peoples' status to their advantage.
Burney seems to be criticizing the double standard treatment of people who lacks "class" and those who has high status. She disapproves the
conduct of people in the novel who have the characteristic that appears to be "changing with the tide." Mrs. Beaumont's character is satirically
described as the "absolute Court Calendar bigot." (pg. 284) Her idea of class is illustrated by her belief that birth is virtue. Her previous association
with Evelina let her to believe that Evelina is a woman of quality. However, she is soon disappointed to find out that Evelina is a "mere country
gentlewoman"(pg284). Similarly, Lady Louisa and many other social elites who reside under the

with a cheerful and welcoming greeting which started the day on a positive note. Also, if necessary the teacher would have discussions with the
parents individually so that they were aware of what has been going on in the classroom and to let parents be aware of if students have been

The skills highlighted by McInerney for teachers to be effective are knowledge, questioning, explaining and demonstrating, monitoring and evaluating
student learning, and most importantly communicating with the students, parents, carers and colleagues. Classroom management are things that a
teacher does to establish an effective learning environment. An effective teacher would keep a record of how students behave in the class. McInerney
states that good teaching minimises misbehaviour and is essential in a student–centred classroom. As teachers provide opportunities for students to
develop their problem–solving strategies students figure out that they have a sense of self–direction which relates to their behaviour, motivation and
learning. According to O'Donnell et al., classroom management and learning engagement is affected well before a student first enters the classroom.
O'Donnell et al., points out that the fundamental task of classroom management is to establish an inclusive, supportive, caring, engaging and
challenging community that students often engage in desirable, respectable and constructive behaviour. As observed in the classroom, various skills
were used by Miss Amber to create a sense of community and belonging which encouraged students to be more open to

"It is the emotional component of conformity referring to one's attachment to others and to the social institutions, such as family and schools" (Walsh
2015, p.134). From these social institutions, we learn what to expect from others and what is expected of us in return in our society. Over time, we
come to recognize the society norms as a part of our identity and obtain the understanding of social boundaries that helps us from not being
self–centered and prevents us from violating the social norms. Due to strong attachments we consider what our family and peers will think about us if
we commit any crime or think about doing some unlawful acts. If a person does not have strong attachments to their social institutions then they might
feel left out and they will not recognize the importance of social boundaries. The second component of the social bond theory is commitment. "It is the
rational component of conformity referring to a lifestyle in which one has invested considerable time and energy in the pursuit of a lawful career"
(Walsh 2015, p.134).Commitment is also another element that prevents us from committing a crime or violate the social norms. A person who has
invested their time and energy into conforming to social norms and expectations, such as pursuing educational goals, are less likely to commit crime
because of the time and effort they had applied to reach their goals. And people that are heavily invested in their commitments have more to lose

Relationship Between Drug And Alcohol
The first thing that the course has helped to understand in relation to drug and alcohol is the different terms that are used when counseling a person.
This is the general terms that are used when counseling a patient. For example, it is not good to use terms like "you are wrong," "you do not know"
or "you are foolish." The course has helped to learn the new terms that I will be using like, "instead of saying you are wrong," you can say, "that is
another good reason." Additionally, it has helped us to learn the tone of language that is to be used. When counseling a patient, one should always be
calm and always be positive about what the patient is feeling and thinking.
It is also in this unit of general psychology that we have learned how very different people behave in the different ways. This is where the course has
taught me why different people behave as they do and why they end up drinking. Stress is one factor that makes people end up becoming alcoholic or
turning into drugs. Additionally, drug abuse andalcoholism have also been known to be hereditary from the recent research studies that have been
done by the different scholars. It is through this course that we have learned the very many reasons as to why people behave in different ways and
why they take drugs or alcohol.
I have learned the different forms of therapy that are used in counseling in this course. This is where the introduction to therapy is done. One way of

How Social Class Can Change The Way People Handle Punishments
In the year 1975 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Bill Gates was arrested for driving over the speed limit and for driving without a driver 's license in
his Porsche 911 (Montaldo 2015: 1). It is rumored that Gates later paid his bail with cash from his wallet. It seems that Bill Gates didn't care that
he got pulled over. In January of 2014 Justin Bieber was arrested for driving under the influence and for resisting arrest. Bieber reportedly donated
fifty thousand dollars to a youth charity to help as part of a plea deal. Later the drunken driving charges were dropped and Justin went on living his
normal life as if nothing had ever happened (Duke 2014: 1). These stories portray how social class can change the way people handle punishments. In
this paper, I will review literature found on the topic, view the issue through a sociological perspective, and then present the main argument. Higher
class individuals engaged in greater unethical behavior (Dubois, Galinsky, Rucker 2015: 437)
There has been a lot of research on this topic. I found multiple sources that helped me better understand the question at hand. In the article "Social
Class, Power, and Selfishness: When and Why Upper and Lower Class Individuals Behave Unethically" written by David Dubois, Adam D. Galinsky,

Gender Impact On Class And Gender
Effect of Class and Gender Do class and gender affect how individuals act or behave? Society has evolved throughout the years and with that
evolution, the people have separated themselves by factors such as class and gender. This separation started many centuries ago and made a large
appearance in the Great Depression and Civil Rights Movement. Along with this division of people, actions and behaviors seem to have been paired
with certain classifications of people. In prior eras, women were seen as fragile and not earners due to needing to stay at home and take care of
children. On the contrary, men were seen as masculine and earned a decent amount of money from working all day long. Even though genders evolved
into how they are now with women working alongside men, the separation is still visible. Women are still fighting to get paid the same amount as men,
resulting in a certain behavior based on the gender. This behavior is one where women try to get equal pay through comparable worth instead of just
staying quiet like women used to. The factors of class and gender cause a difference in an individual's actions and behavior in the ways of not
socializing with certain types of people, creating stereotypes, and behaving in a way to fit the norms of the specific class or gender. There are many
different articles written that can help describe how socialization, generalized ideas, and standards cause individuals in different genders and classes to
act in a certain way. A few of the most important are "Post–Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar" by Gillam and Wooden,
"Seeing and Making Culture: Representing the Poor" by hooks, and "Girls' Bodies, Girls' Selves: Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality" by Lipkin.
All of these articles have aspects that point towards the fact that different reason cause individuals to perform their everyday activities in a certain
way. Gillam and Wooden explain in their article that new films produced by Disney and Pixar have changed the idea of masculinity from one of the
past to one that accepts the more traditional femininity. Hooks' article portrays how she personally was told she was unable to go to college because
of her poverty level and when she did go to

Essay on Short Story Analysis of Girl by Jamaica Kincaid
Short story analysis of Girl by Jamaica Kincaid Have you ever wished that someone had given you a guide on how live the right way? Jamaica
Kincaid does just that in her short story, Girl. The narrative is presented as a set of life instructions to a girl by her mother to live properly in Antigua
in the 1980's. While the setting of the story is not expressly stated by the author in the narrative, the reader is able to understand the culture for which
Girl was written. Jamaica Kincaid seems to be the passive narrator, receiving the instructions from her mother on how to live in their present social

Written in 1983, Kincaid narrates the thoughts and moral beliefs of the time by her mother. In Girl, Kincaid uses repetition of the term "slut" to
emphasize that her mother did not want her to develop a bad moral reputation (Kincaid 118–119). Later in the narration though are her mother's
thoughts on abortion, "this is how to make a good medicine to throw away a child before it even becomes a child" (Kincaid 119). It shows that while
the mother instructed her in moral principles, she also understood that things happen to a young woman. The practical nature of this instruction seems
to indicate more modern thought while still living in a society of traditions. Another hint of the time period is the mention of divorce and how to live
after it, "this is how you love a man...and if they don't work out, don't feel bad about giving up" (Kincaid 119). This could indicate that divorce is an
accepted practice in the more modern society that Jamaica Kincaid wrote Girl in. The location of the story plays a large role in understanding the
character's interactions. The story opens with instructions on cleaning clothes upon a "stone heap" (Kincaid 118). In 1983 America, most households
would have already had washing machines or at least a wash board and bucket rather than the older form of washing clothes at the river and utilizing

Jane Eyre And Great Expectations
Jane Eyre & Great Expectations Comparative Essay
The novels Jane Eyre and Great Expectations both take place in a capitalist society. Marx's fundamental ideas are prevalent in both novels. Karl Marx
is a German philosopher who challenged capitalism with the creation of communism. Marx's most essential and recognized beliefs are that class
creates conflict, modern work is alienating, and class struggle is at the heart of the society. He also believes that individuals affected bycapitalism are
often rugged, which he describes as "putting self–interest above the needs of the community." (Tyson 60). In Jane Eyre, Jane questions other characters
beliefs on Marxism throughout the novel. In Great Expectations, characters challenge Pip on his Marxist beliefs. Therefore, throughout the use of
interclass relationships, classism and rugged individualism, readers are able to observe how Jane challenges others Marxist beliefs and other
characters challenge Pip's Marxist beliefs.
In the novel Jane Eyre, we're able to see how interclass relationships of all kinds were frowned upon within society. Jane is in love with her master,
Mr. Rochester who comes from a much higher social class than her. "though rank and wealth sever us widely, I have something in my brain and heart,
in my blood and nerves, that assimilates me mentally to him". (BrontГ« 332) Marx's idea that "class struggle is at the heart of society" is evident
because the class differences between Jane and Mr.

One way of
helping a drug or an alcohol addict to stop

Rotc College Essay
The effects of ROTC and MLS For those that might not know much about ROTC its a program that differentiates regular college students from
college students who are interested in being in the military. ROTC is short for Reserve officers' training corps which if people are interested in this
route to pursue while in college must take a military science class alongside PT in the mornings of mondays, wednesdays, and fridays. PT is optional
but if a scholarship is awarded its mandatory. When I first decided to go alongside this route I had no idea how much of a positive effect it would be,
not only in college but also life outside of school. The first week of class and PT I learned a couple of necessary things about being in the military

instead the fact that I met many new people, ROTC increased my maturity, and lastly personal training greatly increased my physical health. The
fellow cadets that I've met this year have turned into great friends, especially my close battle buddies who are in 3rd squad 2nd platoon or my
fellow MS'1s. Most of the cadets in ROTC are really nice and motivational pushing each other to not quit and finish that last quarter mile or last set

those days I have to be more responsible the days prior and sleep earlier. It has also improve how I behave by

How Does Class Matter
Does it really matter? Does class really matter? Yes and according to many studies it does affect the learning and teaching of students across the
country. Classrooms are packed with lots of students which makes it harder for the student to learn and also on the school to provide the assets
needed.Have a smaller class makes it so students learn and behave better, this statement is proven by the infamous project star. This study showed that
students behave better and get more involved when they can't hide in the back of the classroom. In an recent study sowed how important it was to

Important Character or Idea
Describe an important relationship in the text(s). Explain why this relationship helped you understand a character OR idea in the text(s)
Story1: Her First Ball
The important relationship between: Leila and The Fat Man.
The idea this relationship helped me understand the text is: Society places expectations on teenagers that are difficult to live up to– teenagers are
expected to behave like adults when they are emotionally not ready for the realities of adulthood
Because: while Leila is at the ball for the first time, she gets acquainted with a scruffy fat man. The fat man tells Leila the harsh realities of being an
adult. In which this makes Leila feel home sick and wishing she wasn't an adult.

Laura from The Garden Party is thoughtful of other people. She has also questioned about class society and how it has shaped her life. As Laura is
uncomfortable as she is seeing the dead man and says sympathetically "Forgive my hat" as she is self conscious about her hat and the rest of her
outfit. But suddenly realises that seeing the dead man was rather peaceful. Laura ignores what society says and looks on the other side of life.
A reason why Laura's relationship with the fat man is important is because she felt sympathy for him and his family. "How her frock shone! And the
big hat with the velvet streamer– if only there was another hat!" she thins as she realises she is in an inappropriate dress. Compared to the "women in
shawls and tweed caps who hurried by," is if she was a know all duchess. Laura herself feels the journey towards emotional maturity and found
tranquillity seeing the fat man and his family. It has made her more mature like a woman more than her mother.
Another reason why Laura's relation with the fat man helps the reader understand the text is that she begins to accept the criticism the way people of
class distinction to rule their lives, as she is from an upper class family unlike the dead mans. "No," she sobbed. "It was simply marvellous," as she
told Laurie the experience of seeing the lower class people and how they're no different to us. We understand that

Ethnic Underachievement In Education Essay
The British education system acts as an agent of secondary socialisation which delivers pupils with the norms and values of society. The focus on
ethnic differences in achievement has been prominent in recent years as there has been a consistency of black underachievement and black exclusions
from education, which has evoked numerous explanations as to why this pattern continuously occurs.
The DFES 2006 reports that only 39% of Black pupils achieve 5+ A*–C GCSE grades which denotes that Black boys are among the lowest achievers
at secondary school level compared to pupils from ethnic minority groups. The DFES additionally reports that 'Nationally, African–Caribbean pupils
are nearly three times more likely to be excluded from school as white pupils, with more than 84% of permanent exclusions being boys' (DfES 2006).
Diane Abbott, a London member of Parliament (2002) stated 'there is a silent catastrophe happening in Britain's schools in the way they continue to fail
Black British children' due to the increasing number of black pupils being permanently excluded from schools.
Adolph Cameron, head of the Jamaican Teachers' ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of labelling has persistently been brought to attention when discussing ethnic underachievement in education, due to the effects it can/may
have. According to Oxford Dictionaries, 'labelling' is defined as attaching a label to someone or something or assign to a category (e.g. streaming). In
education, pupils are often labelled either positively or negatively by their teachers depending on their behaviour. Often when students are labelled
negatively for example 'thick' or 'troublesome', it leads to a self–fulfilling prophecy, whereby pupils eventually believe the labels that teachers have
attached to them. Therefore under these circumstances, if they are predicted to fail or achieve low grades, it is likely to

Similarities Between Western And Eastern Cultures
The term "behavior" refers one's acts dominated by ideology in response to certain situations. Behavior derives from the long development of culture
in which people are defined what is supposed to act based on the identity given. In other words, one's behavior sometimes is the demonstration of one's
identity. Living in a multi–culture world, people from various cultures may behave totally different toward a situation or stimulus. Western and eastern
cultures typically reflects the point of behavioral differentiations among distinct cultures. The United States, as a superpower established in last
hundreds of years, possesses distinguishing features of western culture such as open and liberty. Meanwhile, China is an eastern country with an
ancient civilization stands for conservative culture. Therefore, as represents of these two cultures, the United States and China are appropriate
examples to explore the behavioral differentiations, and the differences in behavior can be well demonstrated through daily behaviors like classroom,
driving and dining. Firstly, comparing the classroom behaviors, the classroom behaviors between America and China are two extremes that
Americans are more active in class while Chinese tend to behave passively in class. Based on my college experience in the United States, most
professors here use PowerPoint as the major tool to give a lecture. Generally, only a little stuff, which is the main points or ideas will be posted on the

Why Is It Important To Be Taught In Schools
Students are not being taught good character in school. Students need to be taught character and participate in clubs to grow their characteristics.
Character needs to be taught in schools so that the students can learn how they are supposed to act or behave. Schools are not teaching their students
character and they are growing up to be immature adults. Parents want what is best for their children and that is for them to be well educated and
behaved. This is important because students are not behaving well or focusing on doing their work. This causes them to fail or get close to failing.
Students are also rude to other students and that is one thing that a character class may help. Character is important and should be taught in all schools.
Meanwhile, schools should create clubs to grow characteristics. KIPP is a charter school system that implemented an approach to character education.
The text says that essential traits of mind and habit referred to as "character", should be taught because some schools have begun to foster their
students. Reading clubs are spilling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ethics, and the good citizenship they need to know. At this point, character education programs have been created. Most public schools do not have
character education programs, therefore the students that are enrolled in public schools are not learning character. Answering the call, numerous
character education programs have been created by private organizations, state and local school boards, and corporations that have designed curricula,
created lessons, and provide the tools necessary for schools to provide character education to their students. Schools are slowly adding character

Effects Of Social Class On Unethical Behavior
Effect of Social Class on Unethical Behavior
Both social class and ethical behavior are important notions in our society today and have been for many years. Unethical behavior can be defined
as behavior or actions that hurts others and are illegal or ethically questionable (Piff et al., 2012). CNN recently reported Volkswagen is being
charged with deception regarding emissions of supposedly "clean" vehicles. They reported that for over ten years more than eleven million vehicles
have been deliberately programmed to fabricate emissions of damaging pollutants under certified testing conditions (Tellado, 2015). Why are
consumers so concerned and outraged at this fraud? This upsets consumers and others because they care about and find ethics and morality to be
important. Morals and values are important in our society because they help direct people's lives and motivate people to take part in meaningful
relationships. The research completed for his article examines not just ethical behavior but also the role social class playing in determining ethical
behavior. The relationship between these to notions will examined by observing behavior at a crosswalk. Social class is defined as a circumstance
established by both the material substance of social life and the individual's understanding of his or her social rank, and is a fundamental feature of
how he or she interacts in the social world (Kraus et al., 2012). Clothing type was used to operationalize social class in this research,

Psychoanalytic Perspective Deals With Personality And...
Psychoanalytic perspective deals with personality and behavior that are caused by unconscious motives and conflicts. Sigmund Freud has introduced
this, and showed that he researched neurological disorders dealing with psychological causes. Freud, in his research, discussed different regions of the
human's mind, one of which is the unconscious region–contains thoughts, wishes, feelings, and memories of which are unaware; some are stored in
temporarily in a preconscious area from which we can retrieve them into conscious awareness. He came to a conclusion that we are being influenced
by these troublesome feelings even though we are not consciously aware of them. ID is the part of the mind that tries to satisfy basic drives that
operate on the pleasure principle. The ego is the largely conscious executive part of the mind that mediates among the id, superego, and reality–guiding
behavior to try to satisfy desires in realistic ways. The superego is the part of the mind that represents ideals, morals, and the conscience. The concept
of personality development is based on the concept of perfection of oneself and ones reaction in order to acquire a well–developed personality. What I
have learned from taking this class is that personality has different approaches and the main approaches that I have learned are the trait approach,
psychoanalytic, behavioral, and humanistic approaches. I have learned from this class that our personality can change over time and our personality is

Critically Assess the Pluralist and Marxist Views of the...
Whilst pluralism and Marxism are said to have developed from liberalism and socialism respectively (through criticising or expanding on those
ideologies) thereby both appearing on the left of the left–right economic scale, a great part of their theories are indeed notably different, if not
completely in contrast with each other. However, if we look closely at these theories, the one similarity, often overlooked by critics, is the fact that both
offer a critique of the state despite the fact that their views are opposing. In order to understand these views of state, it is important to first understand
the fundamental views of both pluralism and Marxism. Only then can these views be assessed and finally compared with each other, thereby ... Show

However, Marxism had only developed after the death of Marx therefore the ideas which are attributed to him are bound to differ. All the same, there
is one key issue from which Marxism developed that is said to be evident:
Marx himself believed that he had developed a new brand of socialism that was scientific in the sense that it was primarily concerned with disclosing
the nature of social and historical development, rather than with advancing an essentially ethical critique of capitalism.
Heywood (2003:125)
So whilst Marxism is essentially a critique of capitalism, Marx initially criticised the Hegelian theory and so had developed his own views from there,
where he had noticed that power was centralised and, furthermore, effectively abolished the chance of there ever being a classless society.
The pluralist view of the state came about as an objection to state sovereignty, out of fear that the state would remain totalitarian if power was only
exercised within the state as opposed to distributed amongst society as a whole (Schwarzmantel, 1994; Smith, 2006). Pluralists 'are said to have a
naive theory of how the state behaves 'neutrally' in a liberal democracy' (Dunleavy and O'Leary, 1987:41), as it is impossible for the state to behave
in such a way when power can never truly be distributed equally and is held within the state in itself. As Nicholls (1975) affirms, those who wanted a
decentralised state were attacked because oligarchy

Racism In To Kill A Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird Essay
In the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, discrimination was a prominent theme. In the novel, there are examples of sexism, classism, and
racism which all help show the reader that to kill a mockingbird was set in a small town in the 1930s, and the town struggled through the depression,
was very segregated and as it was a small town there was a lot of opinions and gossip these ideas are clearly shown through the Cunningham's, scout,
and Tom Robinson in the novel.
Discrimination is a word used a lot today in society but what does it actually mean? The meaning of discrimination is "the unjust or prejudicial
treatment of different categories of people," In the novel, Walter Cunningham was a victim of discrimination because of his's family's social standings.
The Cunningham family were seen as lower class because of their poorness. In chapter 3 of the novel Walter Cunningham has dinner at the finch's
house and pours syrup all over his food, Scout was shocked at this and made a big fuss. When Calpurnia called scout in the kitchen and told her that's
not how you should treat company, scout replied "He ain't company, Cal, he's just a Cunningham–" As if because he was considered lowered class he
does not deserve the same treatment you would show to someone who was better off financially.
To kill a mockingbird also has examples of sexism in the novel. As Scout lost her mother at a young age she grew up around boys and was seen as a

culture clash about was that in the U.S respecting teachers has different meaning compare to my country. First of all, In Somaliland teachers are well
respected by the community and . Society believes that teachers are the second parents of their students. For example, the teacher is responsible for all

In America that is totally different from what I used to. The teachers are the most well respected in my country because people believe that nobody
would achieve their dreams without a teacher to teach them how. Students are supposed to stand up and hold their chest when a teacher comes into

call by "Macaaliin" which means teacher. Students are afraid of their teachers because of the fact teachers are allowed to beat students if they do
something unreasonable. They believe if the student has parents at home and second parents at school it would help the students to be more
successful. In my country, if you are over 14 years old you not make any mistakes when it comes to school or the teacher or parents would beat you.

Explain How To Behave Properly In Homeroom
During homeroom on April 3rd, 2017, the 7th grade class was being extremely impolite to their teacher and to their fellow classmates. They were

assignment. They needed to write a paragraph explaining how to behave properly in homeroom. The students groaned in frustration, but they had
learned their lesson. Behaving properly in homeroom is something you should always keep in mind. To behave is "to conduct (oneself) in a proper
manner," according to Merriam–Webster. While the class of 2018 seemed to need a little bit of help on this subject, others know how to behave
properly. Firstly, the reason the teacher

Sociological Perspectives
In this essay I will be discussing sociological perspectives and how it helps us understand society. I will be furthering on how we understand
society through functionalism and how conflict is within everyday life. I will be giving an overview on how things such as, symbolic
interactionism and feminism affect today's society as a whole whilst evaluating legislations and frameworks along with how social democracy has
an impact on society. Sociological imagination is an idea used by C. Wright Mills which focuses on looking at a bigger picture. The sociological
imagination looks at why we do as society says and how a private trouble compared to a public issue is usually self–constructed. It is found when
someone shares a private issue people usually feel the same therefore by sharing a private trouble and making it a public issue, it will lead to a lot of
people feeling the same and having the same trouble. So, public issues such as, poverty, food banks, etc. should be the real concern and be made the
real issue. Sociological imagination looks at how society, education, governments, etc. contribute to people's private issues. People often find their
struggles (unemployment) is a personal weakness caused by their own errors. However, it is unlikely these problems, thoughts and feelings that one
encounters in their life is unique and are the only ones experiencing this. Therefore when people in society lack the ability to gain success, the priority
should be finding the roots of

Educating Essex Essay
Dear editor,
I am writing to you because I find it impossible to understand why 'Educating Essex' represents teenagers in this such way to society today, it only
makes an impression of them, that "all Britain's teenagers are goby, impolite, spoilt and lacking enough self–discipline to interact with anyone." This
supports stereotypes of modern reckless teens, when in reality "the majority of Britain's teenagers are interesting, polite and simply brilliant young
people quietly going about the business of creating a bright future for themselves."
On 'Educating Essex' I have witnessed many negative things that show teenagers in a bad way, such as students walking across a table, pupils on

In a different scene it shows when Mr Goddard hides behind his door as Mr Drew enters the room, he reaches out his arm around the door to welcome
his deputy with a two–fingered gesture, and Mr Drew's respond is " You are such a ****er". In episode two, there is a scene shown of a girl called
Carmelita, who accuses the deputy of assaulting her. At first she tells him to "get lost" and "shut up", but in the end she gets excluded when she
tells him to "**** off". The deputy is cleared after the headtecher watches the CCTVcameras footage. Also the article mentions that "this sort of
behaviour by pupils shouldn't be allowed and there is extremely childish behaviour by the teachers, who are setting a very bad example for the
pupils as they are likely to see the programme" in results of this the teenagers are influenced by what they see on the TV, and think it's right to behave
in this practical way, another influence are the teachers, as they set an example for the students. One more significant reason for child's behaviour are
the parents, because of the way they are bough up, if they have problems at home they will release their anger in school, on students and teachers. But
essentially that article did not mention any positive things about teenagers.
There were few positive things that I've witnessed on 'Educating Essex' but not many as I expected to be. I think one of them was when, they showed
the students reflecting on what they have done wrong and

Race and Power in Public Spaces Last Friday, June 26, I have chosen to go to the food court inside the Students Union in order to make my

When I saw the way the Mexicans were behaving, I realized that it was connected to the idea of power that we have discussed in class. As the

observed because they feel incapable to bring change in America, so they act a little shy in public spaces. In my opinion, if the American society
treated all the people in the same way, avoiding the creation of stereotypes about people from different races, those people would behave in a
different way. Because race is very important in America, people that is not white feel pressured to behave in certain way that will not bother
people with power, just like how the Mexican that I say acted like. On the other hand, I have also made a connection to the concept that racism is
socially constructed, when people started to look at me in different way because I was sitting with a white girl. This made me realize that because
America does not feel comfortable about interracial relationship, they promote racism, and as consequence, Americans do not know how to act in
situations like this, so they see it as strange or uncommon just like when they saw me with a white girl. From what I saw in my observation last

The Safe-Keeper System

  • 1. The Safe-Keeper System receive. For example, at the end of the week each child gets to pick from a prize box depending on the number of points they got through class dojo. Other teachers may take a different approach, and include class dojo with intrinsic intentions. For example, wanting the students to want to behave well for themselves, and not because of a tangible reward. Class dojo can be problem or solution based, depending on the teacher. Class dojo allows you to clearly see problem behaviors based on where students lose points. For example, calling out in class, or not completing homework. The teachers, parents, and students can clearly see where the problem behaviors are. When it comes to solutions to the problem behaviors, the teachers and the students ... Through this system, children are also practicing important life skills ( being helpful, patient, careful, responsible, and respectful). These are skills children at young ages need to learn to understand and practice daily. They are also essential for keeping them safe in school. Another strength is that it is clear to students when they are behaving or misbehaving by looking to see where their kangaroo is. If they are in the teacher's pouch they need to work harder to be safe, and if they are in their own pouch they are doing their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. William Shakespeare 's Twelfth Night People tend to judge others based on many aspects. Sometimes they may try to force people to act upon certain rules that define their place in society. They often try to meet expectations that society has made for them based on gender and social status. William Shakespeare reinforces these ideas in his play Twelfth Night, which introduces many meaningful messages about situations that still occur in society today. He clearly develops important themes worthy of analysis. A few of these strong themes are about stereotypes and society's expectations and rules, which he proves to be irrelevant most of the time. Many situations in the play falsify commonly held stereotypes about gender and social status by showing how they are sometimes invalid. He also shows how these stereotypes can affect the way people behave towards and judge others. In Twelfth Night, Shakespeare contradicts vapid stereotypes about gender. Through Viola's disguise as Cesario, he is able to prove that a woman is able to fulfill a man 's role in society. She is able to fool the other characters and is even able to woo another woman. This reinforces ideas about how invalid the rules and regulations society has made since Viola easily broke through them. Later on in the story, Sir Andrew challenges Viola to a duel. Viola expects Sir Andrew to be a great fighter, and he expects the same from her. This creates a comedic situation since they both are too afraid of each other to engage in the fight. • 3. A Brief Note On Behaviorism And Its Effect On An Individual Behaviourism Behaviourism is an approach used to assess animal and human behaviour. It relies on the assumption that the behaviour of an animal or human is the result of history of that particular individual. Indeed, reinforcements and punishments are expected to influence the behaviour of an individual by teaching him how to react or conduct him in a specific situation. The main advantage of the behaviouristic approach is the fact that it relies on observable behaviours. This eventually permits the collection of data from research and hence, it becomes possible to determine whether the behaviouristic approach has a positive impact on an individual. On the long–term, it can be possible to condition an individual by slightly altering the stimuli as well the feedback. In doing so, it is expected that the conditioning will eventually occur. Another advantage of behaviourism would be the possibility to treat children suffering from behavioural disorders. By using the system of feedbacks, the children can be rewarded for their good behaviours and can be punished in the scenarios where they still misbehave. However, various studies have demonstrated that mostly younger children will be responsive to this approach. In the end, the behavioural approach still remains an essential tool for the therapy of children with behavioural disorders. The first disadvantage of behaviourism is that it completely ignores the characteristics of each individual. The human brain is complex and it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Who is Smarter? Essay Who is Smarter? Who's smarter? There have been several tests given to young boys and girls to test their intelligence, the turnout has been that girls' overall average intelligence is higher than that of boys. Are girls just naturally born smarter or do the teachers have something to do with it? In David Thoma's article, The Mind of Man, he writes about how he believes that women teachers are the reason why boys score lower on tests and don't do as well as girls in school. "At kindergarten and primary school level, in which little girls out–perform the boys, the vast majority of teachers are female."(121) He focuses on the fact that boys are more rebellious and outgoing than girls. Thomas believes that becasue most boys have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I agree with Thomas as far as knowing that boys are usually the ones known for being disruptive and aggressive in class, but there are always exceptions. I don't agree with the notion that boys score worse on tests and at school in general if they have female teachers. As I was growing up I only had four male teachers between elementary and middle school. In elementary school I found it hard and intimidating to talk to my male teachers, but neither did I see the boys in my class finding it easy to talk to them. These male teachers were very seious and didn't have much of a personality. Although most boys are not really talkative even if the male teacher does have a personality. As far as I can remember, even under male instruction, the boys were still the troublemakers and the girls still did better in class. The boys looked forward to recess and lunch time. The difference that I see now between having a male or female teacher is that with a female teacher I felt more comfortable going and talking to her. They have the motherly instincts. I don't remember every seeing one of my female teachers treat a boy different just because they were boys or had behavior problems. They were just as welcomed as girls to come and talk to them. Working with children now as a T.A. I can see the different behavioral patterns with some boys and girls. I am currently working with a kindergarten class made up of fifteen girls and seven boys. • 5. Disruptin Billy Case Summary There is no doubt that every induvial is unique and that there is no a one size fit all intervention or treatment plan that would help individuals to achieve their desire goals. The same way we are all different and tend to organize and fix things on a different way, clinicians use different approaches based on their theoretical orientation, to provide a more suitable counseling process to their clients. Regardless the interventions or approaches used by the therapist, there are matters that do not should vary in order to provide the more appropriate outcome for the client. For example, aiming for a good therapeutic alliance is an important key on the counseling process regarding not only the interventions used by the clinician, but also any difference between client and clinician in terms of culture, ethnic, and/or socio–economy backgrounds (Hooley, Butcher, Nock, & Mineka, 2017). Billy's teacher had told his parents that his inappropriate behaviors at school such as disrupting the class, talking back to his teacher, and being aggressive toward other children will not be longer acceptable (Hooley, Butcher, Nock, & Mineka, 2017). Since Billy's parents were uncritical and approving on every behavior Billy did, Billy's treatment plan included helping parents to identify, define, and describe in a very detail way between behaviors that were disruptive and appropriate. After identifying behaviors between disruptive and appropriate Billy's parents and teacher were instructed to ignore Billy every time he would engage in disruptive behavior, but devote their attention at those times to children who were behaving more appropriate. In other words, the goal was to eliminate Billy's unwanted behavior by eliminating its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Reflective Essay On Student Behavior Initial thoughts: Ms. Rollison needs to understand that students behave differently which will require a different way to approach their behavior. In most cases, when a student is acting out it is due to something stressful they are experiencing. A young student does not communicate their wants and needs well, this causes them to express their emotion is not the best manner. When children need are not met they will misbehave more frequently. Therefore, Ms. Rollison will need to understand and have patience with the student because there is always a reason behind why the student is misbehaving. Final thoughts: Students behavior can be influenced by many things such as their cultural influences, living situation, and what they are exposed to. Ms. Rollison needs to be aware of the cultural influence that affects the student's behavior. Every culture is different and it influences how a student will interact and respond to authority. Culture can influence the way they talk with their peers, views on sharing, and the way they act all around. Having many students with different culture background leads to a diverse class with different views on how they act toward their peers. Ms. Rollison needs to approach the classroom with an open mind and interact with the kids and learn their behaviors. Moreover, she needs to learn what impact their behavior and understand that not everybody views the world the same because outside factors play a role in the student's behavior. Something that Ms. Rollison views as being impolite or rude, might be seen as something suitable in her student's culture. Understanding other students culture is extremely important because when she creates her classroom management plan, she will know what will be appropriate for her students. Question 2: What can Ms. Rollison do to increase the chances that her students will behave appropriately in class? Initial thoughts: There is many technique Ms. Rollison can use to help with her students behaving appropriately in the classroom. One technique she could use is at the beginning of the year ask the students what type of rule they would like to have in the classroom. The student will more likely obey the class rules because they had a part in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Corruption In The Great Gatsby Essay The wealthy in the late 20's was corrupt and selfish. In the Great Gatsby the upper class is shown as corruptive. The people in the upper class such as Tom and Daisy don't really care about their actions because they feel invincible due to their amount of money and the power they have. Fitzgerald illustrates the corruption in the way upper class is care–less about their behavior. The way people in the upper class behave toward others and in society demonstrates how corruptive they are. Armstrong and J. Lotus Seeley Citation: Armstrong, E. A. et al. ""Good Girls": Gender, Social Class, And Slut Discourse On Campus". Social Psychology Quarterly 77.2 (2014): 100–122. Web. 17 Feb. 2016. The journal article addresses the issue of undergraduate women using slut shaming and the actual reason women participate in it. 2.The theory being tested in the article is that women participate in slut shaming as a way for them to distance or separate themselves from other women. The reason they separate themselves is a way for women to categorize other women into different statuses and a way for themselves to maintain their own status. The status classes women are categorized in are linked to the social class they are a part of. Slut shaming among women is not necessarily based on their sexual acts, but of the way they act as a woman. The theory also states that slut shaming is also a result of male dominance and female submission. The slut label was created by men due to a double standard created by society. The double standard is that men are expected to act upon their sexual desires regardless of being in a relationship or having any emotional connection with the person they're engaging that sexual act with all while women are only allowed to participate in sexual activities if they are in a loving and committed relationship. Functional Behavior Assessment Paper Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Support Plan Lynnette Meinig SPE–522 June 5, 2013 Nicola Harris Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Support Plan Functional behavior assessments are important to teachers and students because I believe that all children behave a certain way for a reason. Children who have disabilities as well as children who do not have disabilities behave in inappropriate ways and a functional behavior assessment can help to determine why so that a plan can be developed to correct the behavior. Negative behavior is a reaction to something happening in a child's life or an imbalance in the child. A child with an imbalance will benefit from a functional behavior assessment because there is a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Functional behavior assessments are very useful to teachers because they will help to identify reasons for inappropriate behaviors of a student. Not only will the assessment peal back the layers of a student's behavior but it can also reveal how to change the inappropriate behavior. Students with disabilities will have inappropriate behaviors in order to communicate with the teacher and adults involved in their day. These behaviors could appear for something as simple as the disabled students refuses to write down what they were asked to, because they are not able to spell or write a word. Students without disabilities may also behave in an inappropriate way because they may not be able to spell or write a word. The functional behavior assessment will guide a teacher to know what subject or even what part of a subject is challenging to a student. Functional behavioral assessments have two major components, identifying and defining target behaviors as well as conducting behavior observations. The assessment should begin with indentifying and defining targeted behaviors and the best way to do that is to conduct a formal interview of the student. The interview should include family who are directly connected to the student's home life as well as the staff involved with the student. The interview should reveal important things like when does the behavior occur during the day, how frequently, what the behavior is receded by, what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every day he would wake up, go to work, and then come home to a nice hot dinner made by his beautiful wife, Maria. The couple had two children who had grown up as less than perfect. The girl, Cindy, was 12 years old, and she was 2dogmatic with her many beliefs. It is hard to believe someone as young as her could be so strongly opinionated. Her opinions were not the problem though; the way she forced people to agree with her in a hateful way was the issue. She also had an issue with spreading rumors, or 3aspersions about other girls she did not like. They also had a son named Jeff. Jeff would 4carp about even the most perfect things. The boy would ... Module 2 Introduction To Psychology Essay Journal 2: Introduction to Psychology Before coming into this class, I thought that psychology was working with children and see how they act, but I did not think further that psychology was more than that. So far what I have learned in this class is that Psychology is a scientific study of the mind. The word psychology has two parts. The first one is Psyche it means soul, and the other word is Ology it means the study of. Psychology does show us how children behave but it's not all to it. I am not majoring in psychology it's a requirement for my degree, but it will help me later on because I want to be a teacher. This class will help me observe how children act o behave and to see if they are struggling with something in particular. Even if this class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am not going to say a summary, but when I was reading chapter 1 of the book, something that interested me was I reading about the 1st person to be referred as a psychologist. His goal of psychology was to identify components of consciousness and how they both combined with each other. They would do experiment to examine their own consciousness. There were many people that were in psychology and do experiments. Also, what I found interesting was the skinner box. The skinner box is chamber that isolates the subject from the external environment and has a behavior indicator such as a lever or a button. With this box they use an animal, and whenever the animal pushes the button or the lever it sends a message of positive reinforcement of the behavior either if its food or punishment. I read this and was amazed with it. I never thought of taking this class or was interesting taking this class. Whenever I would hear the word psychology nothing really came up to me or I would not really pay attention to it. I would say this class its hard and I won't be able to pass or be able to do it. • 14. The Role of Class in Evelina Essay The Role of Class in Evelina What is the definition of "class"? Burney expresses how class is viewed in the eighteenth century society through the novel Evelina. In the novel, Burney exposes to the reader different classes of characters from the aristocrats to the merchants to the commoners and to the prostitutes. Burney also reveals how different character defines the word "class." Madame Duval thinks money and material are sufficient qualifications to belong to the high society. Mrs. Beaumont believes that a person's class is set by birth; the social class one is born into defines one's social status. However, Burney seems to disagree with both of the characters. Behind her back, he destroys her reputation by calling her a country "nobody"(pg35). Being vicious as he is, He believes that by establish the commonality of Evelina's social status, she will not be able to be accepted by the elite social class. Not only did Burney point out the importance of social ranking, she, at the same time, exhibits the ill nature of those who make use of such information regarding other peoples' status to their advantage. Burney seems to be criticizing the double standard treatment of people who lacks "class" and those who has high status. She disapproves the conduct of people in the novel who have the characteristic that appears to be "changing with the tide." Mrs. Beaumont's character is satirically described as the "absolute Court Calendar bigot." (pg. 284) Her idea of class is illustrated by her belief that birth is virtue. McInerney states that good teaching minimises misbehaviour and is essential in a student–centred classroom. As teachers provide opportunities for students to develop their problem–solving strategies students figure out that they have a sense of self–direction which relates to their behaviour, motivation and learning. According to O'Donnell et al., classroom management and learning engagement is affected well before a student first enters the classroom. O'Donnell et al., points out that the fundamental task of classroom management is to establish an inclusive, supportive, caring, engaging and challenging community that students often engage in desirable, respectable and constructive behaviour. "It is the emotional component of conformity referring to one's attachment to others and to the social institutions, such as family and schools" (Walsh 2015, p.134). From these social institutions, we learn what to expect from others and what is expected of us in return in our society. Over time, we come to recognize the society norms as a part of our identity and obtain the understanding of social boundaries that helps us from not being self–centered and prevents us from violating the social norms. Due to strong attachments we consider what our family and peers will think about us if we commit any crime or think about doing some unlawful acts. If a person does not have strong attachments to their social institutions then they might feel left out and they will not recognize the importance of social boundaries. The second component of the social bond theory is commitment. "It is the rational component of conformity referring to a lifestyle in which one has invested considerable time and energy in the pursuit of a lawful career" (Walsh 2015, p.134).Commitment is also another element that prevents us from committing a crime or violate the social norms. How Social Class Can Change The Way People Handle Punishments In the year 1975 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Bill Gates was arrested for driving over the speed limit and for driving without a driver 's license in his Porsche 911 (Montaldo 2015: 1). It is rumored that Gates later paid his bail with cash from his wallet. It seems that Bill Gates didn't care that he got pulled over. In January of 2014 Justin Bieber was arrested for driving under the influence and for resisting arrest. • 19. Gender Impact On Class And Gender Effect of Class and Gender Do class and gender affect how individuals act or behave? Society has evolved throughout the years and with that evolution, the people have separated themselves by factors such as class and gender. This separation started many centuries ago and made a large appearance in the Great Depression and Civil Rights Movement. Along with this division of people, actions and behaviors seem to have been paired with certain classifications of people. In prior eras, women were seen as fragile and not earners due to needing to stay at home and take care of children. On the contrary, men were seen as masculine and earned a decent amount of money from working all day long. Even though genders evolved into how they are now with women working alongside men, the separation is still visible. Women are still fighting to get paid the same amount as men, resulting in a certain behavior based on the gender. This behavior is one where women try to get equal pay through comparable worth instead of just staying quiet like women used to. The factors of class and gender cause a difference in an individual's actions and behavior in the ways of not socializing with certain types of people, creating stereotypes, and behaving in a way to fit the norms of the specific class or gender. There are many different articles written that can help describe how socialization, generalized ideas, and standards cause individuals in different genders and classes to act in a certain way. A few of the most important are "Post–Princess Models of Gender: The New Man in Disney/Pixar" by Gillam and Wooden, "Seeing and Making Culture: Representing the Poor" by hooks, and "Girls' Bodies, Girls' Selves: Body Image, Identity, and Sexuality" by Lipkin. All of these articles have aspects that point towards the fact that different reason cause individuals to perform their everyday activities in a certain way. Gillam and Wooden explain in their article that new films produced by Disney and Pixar have changed the idea of masculinity from one of the past to one that accepts the more traditional femininity. Hooks' article portrays how she personally was told she was unable to go to college because of her poverty level and when she did go to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jamaica Kincaid does just that in her short story, Girl. The narrative is presented as a set of life instructions to a girl by her mother to live properly in Antigua in the 1980's. While the setting of the story is not expressly stated by the author in the narrative, the reader is able to understand the culture for which Girl was written. In Girl, Kincaid uses repetition of the term "slut" to emphasize that her mother did not want her to develop a bad moral reputation (Kincaid 118–119). Later in the narration though are her mother's thoughts on abortion, "this is how to make a good medicine to throw away a child before it even becomes a child" (Kincaid 119). It shows that while the mother instructed her in moral principles, she also understood that things happen to a young woman. The practical nature of this instruction seems to indicate more modern thought while still living in a society of traditions. Another hint of the time period is the mention of divorce and how to live after it, "this is how you love a man...and if they don't work out, don't feel bad about giving up" (Kincaid 119). This could indicate that divorce is an accepted practice in the more modern society that Jamaica Kincaid wrote Girl in. The location of the story plays a large role in understanding the character's interactions. The story opens with instructions on cleaning clothes upon a "stone heap" (Kincaid 118). In 1983 America, most households would have already had washing machines or at least a wash board and bucket rather than the older form of washing clothes at the river and utilizing stones. • 21. Jane Eyre And Great Expectations Jane Eyre & Great Expectations Comparative Essay The novels Jane Eyre and Great Expectations both take place in a capitalist society. Marx's fundamental ideas are prevalent in both novels. Karl Marx is a German philosopher who challenged capitalism with the creation of communism. Marx's most essential and recognized beliefs are that class creates conflict, modern work is alienating, and class struggle is at the heart of the society. He also believes that individuals affected bycapitalism are often rugged, which he describes as "putting self–interest above the needs of the community." (Tyson 60). In Jane Eyre, Jane questions other characters beliefs on Marxism throughout the novel. In Great Expectations, characters challenge Pip on his Marxist beliefs. Therefore, throughout the use of interclass relationships, classism and rugged individualism, readers are able to observe how Jane challenges others Marxist beliefs and other characters challenge Pip's Marxist beliefs. In the novel Jane Eyre, we're able to see how interclass relationships of all kinds were frowned upon within society. Jane is in love with her master, Mr. Rochester who comes from a much higher social class than her. "though rank and wealth sever us widely, I have something in my brain and heart, in my blood and nerves, that assimilates me mentally to him". The focus on ethnic differences in achievement has been prominent in recent years as there has been a consistency of black underachievement and black exclusions from education, which has evoked numerous explanations as to why this pattern continuously occurs. The DFES 2006 reports that only 39% of Black pupils achieve 5+ A*–C GCSE grades which denotes that Black boys are among the lowest achievers at secondary school level compared to pupils from ethnic minority groups. The DFES additionally reports that 'Nationally, African–Caribbean pupils are nearly three times more likely to be excluded from school as white pupils, with more than 84% of permanent exclusions being boys' (DfES 2006). • 29. Effects Of Social Class On Unethical Behavior Effect of Social Class on Unethical Behavior Both social class and ethical behavior are important notions in our society today and have been for many years. Unethical behavior can be defined as behavior or actions that hurts others and are illegal or ethically questionable (Piff et al., 2012). CNN recently reported Volkswagen is being charged with deception regarding emissions of supposedly "clean" vehicles. They reported that for over ten years more than eleven million vehicles have been deliberately programmed to fabricate emissions of damaging pollutants under certified testing conditions (Tellado, 2015). Why are consumers so concerned and outraged at this fraud? This upsets consumers and others because they care about and find ethics and morality to be important. Morals and values are important in our society because they help direct people's lives and motivate people to take part in meaningful relationships. Sigmund Freud has introduced this, and showed that he researched neurological disorders dealing with psychological causes. Freud, in his research, discussed different regions of the human's mind, one of which is the unconscious region–contains thoughts, wishes, feelings, and memories of which are unaware; some are stored in temporarily in a preconscious area from which we can retrieve them into conscious awareness. He came to a conclusion that we are being influenced by these troublesome feelings even though we are not consciously aware of them. ID is the part of the mind that tries to satisfy basic drives that operate on the pleasure principle. The ego is the largely conscious executive part of the mind that mediates among the id, superego, and reality–guiding behavior to try to satisfy desires in realistic ways. Heywood (2003:125) So whilst Marxism is essentially a critique of capitalism, Marx initially criticised the Hegelian theory and so had developed his own views from there, where he had noticed that power was centralised and, furthermore, effectively abolished the chance of there ever being a classless society. The pluralist view of the state came about as an objection to state sovereignty, out of fear that the state would remain totalitarian if power was only exercised within the state as opposed to distributed amongst society as a whole (Schwarzmantel, 1994; Smith, 2006). Pluralists 'are said to have a naive theory of how the state behaves 'neutrally' in a liberal democracy' (Dunleavy and O'Leary, 1987:41), as it is impossible for the state to behave in such a way when power can never truly be distributed equally and is held within the state in itself. Discrimination is a word used a lot today in society but what does it actually mean? The meaning of discrimination is "the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people," In the novel, Walter Cunningham was a victim of discrimination because of his's family's social standings. The Cunningham family were seen as lower class because of their poorness. In chapter 3 of the novel Walter Cunningham has dinner at the finch's house and pours syrup all over his food, Scout was shocked at this and made a big fuss. They needed to write a paragraph explaining how to behave properly in homeroom. The students groaned in frustration, but they had learned their lesson. Behaving properly in homeroom is something you should always keep in mind. To behave is "to conduct (oneself) in a proper manner," according to Merriam–Webster. While the class of 2018 seemed to need a little bit of help on this subject, others know how to behave properly. Firstly, the reason the teacher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Sociological Perspectives In this essay I will be discussing sociological perspectives and how it helps us understand society. I will be furthering on how we understand society through functionalism and how conflict is within everyday life. I will be giving an overview on how things such as, symbolic interactionism and feminism affect today's society as a whole whilst evaluating legislations and frameworks along with how social democracy has an impact on society. Sociological imagination is an idea used by C. Wright Mills which focuses on looking at a bigger picture. The sociological imagination looks at why we do as society says and how a private trouble compared to a public issue is usually self–constructed. It is found when someone shares a private issue people usually feel the same therefore by sharing a private trouble and making it a public issue, it will lead to a lot of people feeling the same and having the same trouble. So, public issues such as, poverty, food banks, etc. should be the real concern and be made the real issue. Sociological imagination looks at how society, education, governments, etc. contribute to people's private issues. People often find their struggles (unemployment) is a personal weakness caused by their own errors. However, it is unlikely these problems, thoughts and feelings that one encounters in their life is unique and are the only ones experiencing this. Therefore when people in society lack the ability to gain success, the priority should be finding the roots of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. FFA Personal Statement Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. I have always had a passion for performing. When I was around the age of 6 I use to go into the living room and have mini concerts with my sister where we would, sing, dance and even play fake imaginary instruments. In my mind music was the one thing that set me apart from everyone. Even today, I still enjoy performing, although now, it in front of more people. In around the second grade I had just moved schools. Around mid–year we had our school talent show. I really wanted to be in it, but I was still young and I was a little scared. I remember ... Everyday n class we are graded on how well we behave in class as well as out work. We all get one warning a day and if you go over that he takes 5 points off of you daily grade. Your overall grade determines a lot. We don't have many huge grades or projects in that class so your behavior really matters. With that being said, of course you have to behave when we are with a group or if we are out of class. It's like when we go out to eat after a CDE (Career Development Event) contest and we always act respectful even if we all want to have a good time because it's what we do as a ... • 37. Educating Essex Essay Dear editor, I am writing to you because I find it impossible to understand why 'Educating Essex' represents teenagers in this such way to society today, it only makes an impression of them, that "all Britain's teenagers are goby, impolite, spoilt and lacking enough self–discipline to interact with anyone." This supports stereotypes of modern reckless teens, when in reality "the majority of Britain's teenagers are interesting, polite and simply brilliant young people quietly going about the business of creating a bright future for themselves." On 'Educating Essex' I have witnessed many negative things that show teenagers in a bad way, such as students walking across a table, pupils on mobile phones, swearing at each other and teachers, ... In a different scene it shows when Mr Goddard hides behind his door as Mr Drew enters the room, he reaches out his arm around the door to welcome his deputy with a two–fingered gesture, and Mr Drew's respond is " You are such a ****er". In episode two, there is a scene shown of a girl called Carmelita, who accuses the deputy of assaulting her. At first she tells him to "get lost" and "shut up", but in the end she gets excluded when she tells him to "**** off". The deputy is cleared after the headtecher watches the CCTVcameras footage. Also the article mentions that "this sort of behaviour by pupils shouldn't be allowed and there is extremely childish behaviour by the teachers, who are setting a very bad example for the pupils as they are likely to see the programme" in results of this the teenagers are influenced by what they see on the TV, and think it's right to behave in this practical way, another influence are the teachers, as they set an example for the students. One more significant reason for child's behaviour are the parents, because of the way they are bough up, if they have problems at home they will release their anger in school, on students and teachers. But essentially that article did not mention any positive things about teenagers. There were few positive things that I've witnessed on 'Educating Essex' but not many as I expected to be. I think one of them was when, they showed the students reflecting on what they have done wrong and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Common Gender Themes In my opinion, there were many common themes displayed in the video. The themes varied. They were deeper than how they appeared. Some of the themes that were discussed in the video dealt with; the perception of Individuals, Tradition, Building up characteristics and the circle of life. These universal ideas were the focus point of the video. According to the video men are portrayed to be intelligence, strong and independent. The men are full of pride, wealth and never appear weak. On the other hand, the women always appear to be in distresses. The woman are offense weak, poor and dependent. The video displays how women await for men to rescue them from their reality. These images can affect our individual in many ways. Many times the thing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Public Spaces Race and Power in Public Spaces Last Friday, June 26, I have chosen to go to the food court inside the Students Union in order to make my observation for this second ethnographic paper. As we discussed in class, observation is type of field work that anthropologists do in order to collect data and effectuate studies about the same data. As a way to collect better results in my observation at the Students Unions, I decided to go during launch time willing to observe a huge number of people in that place. While I was there, I was focused on observing the way people behave when they are in a public sphere, and how do they interact with each other. When I first arrived there, the first thing that I have noticed is that most of the people in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I saw the way the Mexicans were behaving, I realized that it was connected to the idea of power that we have discussed in class. As the teacher said in class, "Power is the ability or potential to bring about change" (Storey). I believe that this idea applies to the Mexicans that I observed because they feel incapable to bring change in America, so they act a little shy in public spaces. In my opinion, if the American society treated all the people in the same way, avoiding the creation of stereotypes about people from different races, those people would behave in a different way. Because race is very important in America, people that is not white feel pressured to behave in certain way that will not bother people with power, just like how the Mexican that I say acted like. On the other hand, I have also made a connection to the concept that racism is socially constructed, when people started to look at me in different way because I was sitting with a white girl. This made me realize that because America does not feel comfortable about interracial relationship, they promote racism, and as consequence, Americans do not know how to act in situations like this, so they see it as strange or uncommon just like when they saw me with a white girl. From what I saw in my observation last Friday, it seems that people in America is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
