2. Professional Learning
Network
Here is a screenshot of my PLN
as of the end of the semester.
Although I do not follow many
people/groups, I feel the ones
that I do follow contribute lots
to my interests and what I want
to do with my career.
3. • As I previously mentioned my PLN has not increased greatly in size, only
about 10 more in the following category, however those that I am
following have greater importance to me. Many of the math related
twitter accounts I follow lead to off site information that I find greatly
interesting and that maybe I can use to garner interests from students in
the future. Although during the semester I was not as focused on Twitter
because of classes and other happenings I have gained someone interest
in it and actually want to use it whereas before this class I didn’t care at all
for Twitter.
4. • Maths History (@mathshistory) & Center of Math
(@centerofmath)
Both of these Twitter accounts provide further knowledge of
math and in some cases origins of different theories or ideas in
math.
They provide access to other websites that show different math
concepts and how math can be used in real life. Many students I
think do not like math because it seems to have little relevance
in life and maybe with what I see on here I can show them there
is more to it.
5. • Dr Matt Hoven (@MattHoven) & Dean Sarnecki (@sarneckid)
Both of these gentlemen are catholic educators at the university
and provide links to catholic education sites and catholic insights
in education.
I am currently taking courses for teaching in a catholic school and
whether or not I land a job in a catholic district have connections
within catholic circles can help to further my education in the
area for if/when I get a job in a catholic district.
6. Alberta Teachers Association (@albertateachers)
The ATA is the advocate for Alberta teachers and is a key
contributor for the advancement of public education.
The ATA provides a number of resources for teachers and pre
service teachers in Alberta with updates being announced on
their Twitter account.
Being a pre-service teacher/teacher in Alberta, the ATA will
always be important in my career and knowing what updates are
occurring will be beneficial to my future career.
