2. I’m learning so much about how a Professional Learning Network can expand your horizons, both
professionally and individually. Having others who have been down that path, others who have
learned from their mistakes and have then chosen to give advice, others who are there for you be it
your first class or 100th class.
* My Twitter PLN focus has been elementary (k-6), early literacy, inclusivity and technology, four areas
that are of interest to me, or as with technology, a mystery to me.
* Being on Twitter has helped me to expand my knowledge, interests, and contacts. I have so many
ideas now for working in the classroom, for working with students of all abilities, and for incorporating
technology into my classroom, it seems that the possibilities are endless.
* I’ve made personal connections with teachers, both locally and provincially, who are willing and able
to help me along the way.
My PLN Journey
3. @NicoleGatner
I’ve grown so much in the last 6
weeks in my online world. Finding
Twitter users that pique my interests
is always fun, but finding out that
others are following me and that my
tweets are being retweeted (RT) and
picked as favorites has been great.
4. @skipz
A teacher and SMARTboard trainer,
Skip Zalneraitis’ tweets bring a
wealth of information and
experience involving technology and
SMARTboard information to twitter
users and teachers everywhere.
There have been many times I’ve
gone to his twitter page to find a site
or link that can be of help to me now
and in future classes.
5. @BeyondTheCrayon
Inclusion is a very important part of my education
experience, and I plan to ensure that I have as
many opportunities as I can for my students,
whether they are fully capable individuals or are
dealing with physical or intellectual disabilities.
Every student deserves the best learning
environment, and it is my job to provide that.
While @BeyondThe Crayon isn’t specifically tech
related, she has included many tweets that are
directed that direction.
@BeyondTheCrayon has tweeted many links to
resources and articles that will prove invaluable,
both because of the nature of education and
inclusion, as well as the locality of many of the
resources.
6. @edutopia
With online twitter chats such as #edchat, and links, photos, articles, and
support, @edutopia has been invaluable to me both as a student and as a
future teacher. Even though ed-tech is not the sole focus,
@edutopia has a large quantity of tech-related links and tweets.

PLN Reflection
The idea of using Twitter as a PLN
has been one that I’ve toyed with
for a while, and now that I’ve
started down that road, I can
definitely see where it will be a
benefit to me and my career. As
with all online activity, there must
be moderation with time spent on
twitter. I’ve found that I can easily
lose an hour or more looking
through tweets. Something I’ll be
reminding my students about down
the road!
