1. OBSERVATION
I seek from two English teacher to observe their English lessons during the week.
I observe at least one English Language class per day beginning from day 2(22th
August 2011) . Then, I collect records of her weekly scheme of work, lesson
outline/lesson plan, worksheets and relevant materials related to the lessons I observe.
I make some observation during my mentor, MrsNormah Ibrahim was teaching in her
class, 1 Cekal.
Below are some questions that Ihad asked her :
1. What happens at the beginning of the lesson ?
o How do the pupils enter the classroom and where do they sit ?
o How does the teacher gain and maintain the pupil’s attention ?
o How are the resources organized for the pupils ?
2. What happens once the lesson introduction is completed ?
o How are the pupils organized for the follow-up tasks ?
o What prompts are there to help the pupils remember their tasks.
3. What happens during the lessons ?
o How are the pupils allowed to move about the class ?
o How do the pupils access, use and replaceresources ?
o How does the teacher support pupils who work more quickly or slowly
than the others ?
o How does the teacher move around the classroom and monitor what is
going on?
4. What happens at the end ?
o How does the teacher draw the lesson together/give feedback?
o How do the pupils leave the classroom ?
o How does the teacher draw the lesson to a close ?
o How do the pupils clearay, return apparatus and materials?
2. 5. How does the teacher monitor and manage in appropriate behavior ?
o What are classroom rules (explicit and implicit).
o What strategies does the teacher use to encourage good behavior ?
o What sanctions/control does the class teacher use ?
o Are there pupils who specific behavioural difficulties and what strategies
are being used to help them ?
o How much talking does the class teacher permit ?
o Collect school policy documents.
