Continental glaciers form near polar regions and move outward from the center, while alpine glaciers form on mountain tops and move down valleys. Both accumulate snow and flow plastically. Glacial landforms include terminal moraines at the glacier's end, lateral moraines on the sides, ground moraine, outwash plains, drumlins, eskers, kettle lakes, U-shaped valleys, hanging valleys, cirques, cirque lakes, horns, aretes, and fjords.
