Bauer Media would best distribute the media product because they specialize in entertainment and music magazines like Kerrang and Q, which have a similar target audience of teenage and young adult males as the rap/hip-hop magazine. Bauer Media also partners with radio stations that could help promote the magazine and reaches 19 million people weekly, allowing the magazine to reach a mass market. In contrast, IPC does not distribute many comparable magazines.

1. 3. What kind of media institution would distribute your media product and why?
IPC tends to distribute all types of magazine, such as woman and gardening magazines. It only
distributes one music magazine, which is NME. NME does however, have the same target audience
as my media product, which is teenagers and young adults.
Bauer Media focus more on distributing entertainment magazines, and especially music magazines,
such as Kerrang and Q. They also distribute many radio magazines such as Key 103. These radio
stations could help with the promotion of my music magazine. Bauer Media also distributes
magazines which are mainly aimed at males such as FHM. This is good because my media magazine
is also mainly targeted at males, as the hip-hop/rap genre is very male dominant, which means that
Bauer Media specialise in the distribution of male orientated magazines. A lot of the companies that
are distributed by Bauer are big as well, which means that my magazine could reach large audiences.
The website states that it reaches 19 million people weekly, which obviously shows that it would
enable my magazine to reach a mass market.
Therefore, I would choose Bauer Media to distribute my media product. This is because I believe
that my media product fits their profile much better than it would fit IPC, as Bauer focus a lot more
on entertainment and music magazines than IPC. IPC also don’t distribute many magazines similar to
mine whereas Bauer Media does.
