According to the Endangered Species Act, South America is home to many beautiful unique animals
that are currently at risk of extinction because of deforestation and poaching. In this essay, I will
discuss three examples of how deforestation and poaching have dangerously affected the survival of
these animals. The endangered animals I selected are the Maned Wolf, the Blue Throated Macaw,
and the Black Caiman. According to the Endangered Wolf Center website, the maned wolf is the
only species in its genus. It is reddish–orange color with brownish–black stockings with small eyes.
The maned wolf's habitat is found in large prairies, lush forests and wide grasslands of South
America. The maned wolf was nearly hunted to extinction by farmers who mistakenly blamed it for
killing their life stock. Zoologist were able to demonstrate that due to their small jaws and teeth the
maned wolf could not have hunted large livestock (Guillermo Rosario Jaime). Unfortunately, the
population was serious reduced and the situation escalated by the loss of habitat due to increase of

Every year the human population on Earth increases by approximately 1.12%, or 80 million,
according to the United States Census Bureau. This drastic increase in population has created a big
strain on the environments around us. As the population increases, so does the amount of fossil fuel
consumption, greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, deforestation, and other detrimental impacts on
the environment. This, in turn, causes the extinction of at least 10,000 species per million per year

all organize our research. Dylan Stamm did his research on why the Pallid Sturgeon is going extinct,
what it means to the rest of the ecosystem and why it matters. Sean McVeigh did his research over

Translocation of native birds to offshore islands has been a part of ecological restoration in New
Zealand and has started since 1890's. This translocation to mainland islands was started by the
Department of Conservation in the year 1995. Wenderholm Regional Park has an area of 60 hectares
maintained for ecological restoration. The area has been fenced to prevent the entry of livestock and
the pasture land is reforested. The ecology of the park was restored to the status of enabling bird
release into the park by reducing the number of predators. North Island robins were introduced into
the park in 1999. The productivity rate of the robins was very high. But the dispersal rate has also
been high as the young fledged away to nearby habitats. As the park is linked to adjacent forest

by Congress that growth and development were responsible for the extinction of species of fish,

There has been plenty of controversy surrounding the species regarding their habitat because their
habitat is desired and used by logging companies. These owls tend to reside in old forests as they
prefer old trees which are also preferred for logging. There has been plenty of controversy on
whether or not logging companies should be put to a halt in forests that these owls reside in, which
involve balancing values of environment and economy. This is mainly due to the fact that logging
provides jobs as well as resources to people, despite the fact that it affects the owls and their
ecosystem. It is debated whether or not owl's habitat and ecosystem should be protected or not for
the sake of logging.

Animal sympathy is the ability of animals to form connections and feel the emotions of other

the human aspect in the relationship between man and animal is considered specifically by the
