Benedictus Play
In Mass in D, there are no introductions at the beginning of movements, except in the case of
"Benedictus" (Dvořák added two measures of introduction in the orchestra version). Since amateur
choirs often have a limited background in reading music, teaching intervals during rehearsal is
another important key to success. The author found it important to teach amateur singers how to
obtain the first note in every movement. In the first movement, "Kyrie," the last chord ends in D
major. Sopranos hold the tonic, altos hold the third, tenors hold the fifth, and basses hold the tonic.
As tenors are taking the lead on the second movement, "Gloria," the first note of their part is the
tonic of D. It is important to teach the amateur singers to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, the high notes in the tenor part on measures 113–114, singing an octave from G3 to G4,
could be challenging for amateur singers as this is a high pitch that requires a soft dynamic. The
author suggests that the conductor use a falsetto voice or simply assign only the Tenor I to sing. For
soprano, the highest note is G5 in this movement. The most challenging section would be measure
83, singing the repeating G5 and then moving down by a half step to F–sharp5. This could create
intonation problems for amateur singers. In this section, the basses are holding the D4 for three
beats, which could be a challenge for amateur singers as well. The author would suggest the
conductor not to sing this part too heavily although it is marked as forte in the score.
Movement II – "Gloria"
In Gloria, the highest and lowest notes for each voice are as follows:
The sopranos and tenors on measure 17 are holding A5 (A4 for tenors) for three and a half beats
with the dynamic of fortissimo. It could be a challenge for the amateur singers. Therefore, care must
be taken. The conductor could ask the singers not to sing too heavily so as to avoid vocal fault, but
to "think" of support. One of the most effective tools in teaching amateur singers to sing on a high
pitch correctly is to "think" opposite when singing the high note, and also to bend their knees when
singing the high note during the rehearsal.
Movement III – "Credo"
In the "Credo," the highest and lowest notes for each voice are as

Music is a Universal Language
Starkville/MSU Symphony, Live At Lee Hall
On Friday, November 6th, I had the pleasure to witness the Starkville/MSU Symphony performing a
plethora of classical pieces all conveying the message that music is most certainly a universal
language. The program was set in Lee Hall. The hall itself has two levels, one is the ground level
and the other is the balcony level. The stage was lighted very nicely and helped each instrumentalist
stand out uniquely. The stringed instruments were in the front and the brass section was in the back,
along with the percussion. The symphony directors were standing in the front of the stage. There

9 in e minor, From the New World, Op. 95 by Antonin Dvorak. It was an intense and alluring piece.
Its Allegro was very inspiring and had and effect like a thunder and lightning. It uses sonata allegro
from in the first movement. Then, it establishes this lead composition to use its variations and
convey different emotions. It then has moments where it is very slow and touching, just as beautiful
as sounds of flowing water, calm and serene. However, other times we get a feeling of inspired
courage and determination comparable to marching of soldiers. In my opinion, the ending form of
the sonata allegro is the most splendid and satisfying, as it is both soft and emotional yet aggressive.
It is a fine end to a great piece, and produces a great sense of gratification. In conclusion, after this
experience, I have become a symphony enthusiast. In addition, Iam now also particularly fond of

‘Spring’ from “the Four Seasons” by Vivaldi
'Spring' from "The Four Seasons" by Vivaldi Antonio Vivaldi: Antonio Vivaldi (4 March 1678 – 28
July 1741), nicknamed Il Prete Rosso ("The Red Priest") because of his red hair, was an Italian
Baroque composer, priest, and virtuoso violinist, born in Venice. Vivaldi is recognized as one of the
greatest Baroque composers, and his influence during his lifetime was widespread over Europe.
Vivaldi is known mainly for composing instrumental concertos, especially for the violin, as well as
sacred choral works and over 40 operas. His best known work is a series of violin concertos known
as The Four Seasons. Antonio Vivaldi's music was innovative. He brightened the formal and

Comparing Milton's L 'Allegro And Il' Peneroso
In "L'Allegro" and "Il'Peneroso", Milton discusses two personalities that foretell the joys and
dilemmas in each. Through the two poems, Milton juxtaposes the life of commoners, who rejoice in
Mirth, and the intellectual, who finds solace in Melancholy. While Milton sanctions the authenticity
of both lifestyles, he equates the life of "Il'Peneroso" with intellectual and religious hierarchy;
therefore, Milton edifies the borders of social class that comprised human echelons of the 17th
century. Oftentimes within the two poems, Milton associates the character in "Il'Peneroso" with
celestial achievement and the characters in "L'Allegro" with common folklore. In "Il'Peneroso", the
narrator with holy reverence worships the Goddess Melancholy comparing her to a pure, chaste Nun
(line 32). Additionally, the character of "Il'Peneroso" foresees himself in a quiet, reverential
monastery (169). Milton characterizes "Il'Peneroso" as a lone religious intellectual, ranking
"Il'Peneroso" high on the pyramid like structure. With the equation of "Il'Peneroso" to religion,
Milton identifies "Il'Peneroso" as the preferred lifestyle. On the contrary, Milton parallels the
characters of "L'Allegro" with folklore tales of Friar's Lantern and the Hobgoblin (104–105). In a
time where the church was accessible only to the elite and those of higher social standing, Milton
reassures commoners incapable of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Musical Deviance : Allegro Ma Non Troppo
Andante–Allegro ma non troppo
The noble theme announced by two horns at the beginning is a masterful touch, simple in itself, but
with such a sweeping effect that even the least attentive listeners notice that something out of the
ordinary begins. Immediately afterwards the orchestra picks up the theme, develops it, prolongs it
and provides a wide range of instrumental colors. Finally, a crescendo takes us to the main theme
characterized by the punctuated rhythm of the string and the triplets of the wood.
But, before the development takes place, a secondary theme is introduced that broadens the
punctated rhythm and then moves to E minor, appearing the second theme, a delicate melody played
by the oboes and bassoons. Finally, three short waves of the whole orchestra cause the end of the
exhibition, a long and imaginative development of all the ingredients that until now have played an
important part. The recapitulation is normal, apart from the appearance of the second theme in C
minor, and then after the three waves the music picks up the step for the coda. With a triumphant re–
exposure by the whole orchestra of the initial theme of the horn, the movement concludes.

Beethoven Fourth Symphony
The concert I attended was Beethoven Fourth Symphony conducted by Tito Munoz. This concert
took place at the Phoenix Symphony Hall and consisted of three pieces. The first one was
Symphony No.4 by Beethoven, the second was Concerto no. 1 for Piano and Orchestra by Alberto
Ginastera, and finally was La valse by Maurice Ravel. Overall, this concert had a great variety from
very melodic pieces to suspenseful music.
The first piece was Symphony No. 4 in b–flat Major by Beethoven. This piece had four parts:
adagio–allegro, Adagio, Allegro vivace, and Allegro ma non troppo. It consists of violins, cellos,
violas, tubas, and flutes. This symphony was written in the summer 1806 and was first performed at
the palace of Prince Lobkowitz in Vienna. The slow introduction sets up a dark and suspenseful
mood that stays throughout the adagio. The suspenseful music is a ... Show more content on

Serge Koussevitzky. It has a solo instrument, the piano, as well as a full orchestra. This concerto has
also four parts:Cadenza e varianti, Scherzo allucinante Adagissimo, and toccata concertata. Overall,
this piece has mysterious music, is dramatic, and over the top. The music reminds a scary scene in a
horror movie due to its suspenseful aspect. The first movement starts with a suspenseful mood with
dramatic music that continues until the end of the piece. There is a series of quick crescendos and
bold declamation of the piano. The second piece is faster yet quiet and continues with the
mysterious theme. The third piece has adagissimo tempo like the title explains, and has a viola solo.

overall piece. The last piece is written in rondo form and still contains the gloomy theme. This

Essay on Examining the Pathetique Sonata
Examining The Pathetique Sonata At the start of the nineteenth century, the world of music made a
transition from the Classic Period of composition to what is now known as the Romantic Era.
Composers experimented with more expressive and songlike melodies while pianists developed
higher skill levels to match the increased technical demands of the pieces. One man who embodied
this particular transitional period was Ludwig van Beethoven. Beethoven was one of the first
composers to stray from traditional forms of music and incorporate a broader range of pitch and
dynamics into his compositions. In 1798 Beethoven composed the Sonata No. 8 in C Minor, which
incorporates many romantic elements of music. Often referred to as The ... Show more content on

The theme begins quietly in piano, but tension builds as the left hand rumbles back and forth
between octaves. A subtle crescendo eventually leads to a stunning virtuoso passage that
incorporates the use of a cross–hand technique and modulates into the key of E flat major. This key
change is carried over throughout the remainder of the exposition and into the closing, which is
typical of the sonata allegro from. What makes this first movement unique is the fact that the
introductory Grave theme is repeated both at the beginning of the development section and in the
coda. This was not typical of pieces written during the late eighteenth century and proved to be one
of Beethoven's initial experiments with the sonata allegro form. The second movement of
Beethoven's eighth sonata entitled Adagio cantabile is strikingly different from the fast pace and
thundering themes of the first movement. It opens with eight bars of a beautiful and delicate melody
that most people can readily identify. It is this songlike melody of the second movement that many
romantic composers attempted to emulate in their compositions. After the introduction of this
melody, the movement progresses in a traditional rondo form as new themes are introduced, and the
initial melody is repeated. The initial theme is written in the key of A flat and is repeated a total of
three times during the movement. It is followed the first time by a theme beginning in the key

Felix Mendelssohn Symphony 4 Essay
Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 in A Major, Op. 90 Movement 1 is in sonata–allegro form.
His musical style is mostly classical with a few incorporations from the Romantic style. The theme
of the first movement is introduced with violins. The tempo is rather fast and bright which labels the
first movement as allegro vivace. The texture of the movement is created with the addition of the
woodwinds: flutes, clarinets, oboes, horns, and bassoons. The string instruments contain the melody
and the brass accompaniment being the timpani, creates the rhythm of the first movement. The
woodwinds introduce the second theme of the symphony with the accompaniment of the strings.
Right after the first theme is reintroduced, the listener is presented with the last main section of the
sonata–allegro ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast, the tempo of Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 2 in D Major Movement 4 is fast and as
stated in Music: Our Cultural Evolution it is "lively with spirit" (allegro con spirito). The first theme
in the fourth movement is introduced with the brass instruments and following it are the string
instruments. The beginning of the fourth movement starts out soft, creating a peaceful atmosphere
but there is a sudden shift in the volume to being very loud (fortissimo). Even though the beginning
notes were soft, it was noticeable that they were each accented (subito forte). Although there are
sudden outbreaks within the piece that can be identified as fortissimo, Brahms is able to make the
piece sound unified. The repetition in the middle of the fourth movement strongly expresses the
main idea as it is an effort to make the listener become attentive. The texture of this movement may
seem overbearing but it pulls the piece together as a whole. The orchestra's dominating sound
emphasizes the piece's tonic key being D Major as it should in the last part of any sonata–allegro

The Romantic Era Of Felix Mendelssohn
During the romantic era, there were many great composers that made the Romantic period the most
innovative in music history. But Felix Mendelssohn is often viewed as a Classical–Romantic
composer, whose style paradoxically incorporated elements of formal balance and graceful control
on the one hand, and romantic subjectivity and fantasy on the other. Felix Mendelssohn (Jakob
Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn–Bartholdy) was a German composer, pianist, musical conductor, and
teacher, and one of the most–celebrated figures of the early Romantic period. Through his music, he
largely observed Classical models and practices while initiating key aspects of Romanticism.
Mendelssohn was born of Jewish parents, Abraham and Lea Salomon Mendelssohn, who he first
learned piano from. In 1811, during the French occupation of Hamburg, the family had moved to
Berlin, where Mendelssohn studied the piano with Ludwig Berger and composition with Carl
Friedrich Zelter, who, as a composer and teacher, exerted an enormous influence on his
development. Later he traveled with his sister Paris, where he took further piano lessons and where
he appears to have become acquainted with the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mendelssohn
was an exceptionally gifted musical composer. A prodigy, reared in a highly cultured atmosphere,
began composing at age 10, presented his orchestral compositions to illustrious audiences at the
family estate. He wrote numerous compositions during his boyhood, among them 5 operas, 11

At 14, he set off for Italy to make his own way in being known as an opera composer. The rest as

On top of his operas, sonatas and other compositions, Mozart has also written five violin concertos
between 1773 and 1776 in Salzburg.
Violin Concerto No. 1 was scored for solo violin with 2 oboes, 2 horns and strings. It has three
movements such as Allegro moderato, Adagio and Presto which are all written in sonata form.
Sonata forms are usually used by classical composers for their most serious works.
Violin Concerto No. 2 was written in Salzburg and dated June 14, 1775. It has fast–slow–fast
structure and has three movements such as Allegro moderato, Andante and Allegro.
Also composed in Salzburg, Mozart wrote the Violin Concerto No. 3 on September 12, 1775. Just
like the others, it also has three movements: Allegro, Adagio and Allegro (Rondeau).
The fourth Violin Concerto, just like the rest of the concertos, was scored for solo violin, 2 oboes, 2
horns and strings. It was composed in Salzburg and dated October 1775 as seen in Mozart's

Comparing LAllegro And Il Penseroso
"L'Allegro" and "Il Penseroso", both by Milton, are companion poems. The first describes the happy,
joyful man and the second depicts a melancholy, studious, observant man. Both poems adopt similar
imagery, meter, and rhyme scheme. The similarities within each poem make analyzing their
differences a challenge. An aspect of both poems that is both comparable and succinctly different is
the allusion to Orpheus and his wife Eurydice. There are many versions of the tale of Orpheus and
Eurydice. To briefly explain, Orpheus, the son of a Muse and a prince, is born with the gift of
enchantment through music. With his gift, Orpheus can charm any person or thing to do as he
wishes. He woos Eurydice and they are married. One day, Eurydice goes

Beethoven Accomplishments
Ludwig Van Beethoven, (1770–1827) is a dominant figure of the 19th century European Classical
music. He was born in Bonn, Germany, and spent most of his life in Vienna, Austria. Beethoven
died at the age of 56, and his death was later found to have been caused by post–hepatitic cirrhosis
of the liver, which provided clues to the origins of his deafness. His musical life is divided into three
different periods: early, middle, and late. Opus 10 No. 3: Piano Sonata No.7 in D Major – First
Movement (Presto) The early period of Beethoven's composition extends from approximately 1794
to 1800. In this period, Beethoven seen as copying Joseph Haydn and Muzio Clementi, at the same
time exploring his own style of music. Some important pieces from this period are the first and
second symphonies, the first six string quartets, the first two piano concertos, and about a dozen
piano sonatas. Deriving from Haydn's examples, Beethoven's early piano sonatas have structures
ranging from the quite free forms, found in Op. 2 No. 2, to the clarity of form of Op. 22. The moods
of the sonatas also vary from aggressiveness of the two C minor sonatas toe the playfulness of Op.
10 No. 2. Moreover, many of these sonatas have four movements, with the third generally termed
"minuet" (slow) but occasionally "scherzo" (lively). Perhaps because of Clementi's influence,
Beethoven's piano sonatas are the most original of his early period compositions. Characteristics of

Symphony No. 9 Summary
The concert I watched online was Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" composed by the great
Antonin Dvorak. This performance was done by the New York Philharmonic and launched the New
York Philharmonic's 175th anniversary season. This concert was performed by an orchestra and was
definitely a performance I enjoyed to watch and listen to.
In the beginning of the performance, the orchestra begins with an adagio tempo, using instruments
such as cellos and violins. The tempo is very slow and soothing until it suddenly interrupted by the
sound of trumpets. This is setting a tone that something very dramatic is about to happen. After the
trumpets sound, oboes and flutes begin to play using the same adagio tempo as it was used in the
beginning of the performance. As the flutes and clarinets slowly stop, you can see the conductor,
Alan Gilbert, slowly move his arms apart to instruct the orchestra to get prepared. Gilbert then
swings his arms up and the orchestra switches to an allegro tempo by using crescendo. Violins,
cellos, drums, French horns, tenor trombones and bass trombones are now used to create a
suspenseful tone as if something tragic has just happened. It then changes back to the adagio tempo
using instruments with low pitch and then transfers back to the oboes, flutes and violins. The first
ten minutes of the performance is a wide variation between adagio and allegro and molto allegro and
basically switches tempos between the three which is why I really enjoyed

Reflection Of The Illinois Symphony Orchestra
The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra Concert on October 14th featured three pieces; The Birds,
Concerto for Violin, Cello, Piano, and Orchestra in C Major, and Symphony No.5. All the pieces
were lovely and were entertaining to listen to. This concert also featured the Hersh Trio, comprised
of Alexander Hersh on the cello, Stefan Hersh on the violin, and Paul Hersh on the piano, which the
orchestra accompanied for one piece.
The first piece played by the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra was The Birds composed by Ottorino
Respighi. Ottorino Respighi is best known for his orchestral tone poems, such as Fountains of
Rome. He based his work, The Birds, off of 16th, 17th, and 18th century style music because he had
an interest in music from these eras as a musicologist. There are five movements; Preludio, La
Colomba, La Gallina, L'Usignolo, and Il Cuccu. They are meant to resemble types of birds. For
example, La Colomba means dove, La Gallina means hen. The first movement, Preludio, was light
and airy. This was a good piece to start with because of its playful melody. There was a large
ritardando into a new melody that clearly resembled sounds of a bird. The second theme sounded
fluttery because of the trills. The movement then returned to the first theme and ended on a large
chord. The second movement, La Colomba, didn't start out nearly as upbeat and jittery as the
previous movement. Given the context of the name, this makes more sense considering the
connotation of a dove is

Overall the movements in this piece were smoother than the first piece. However, the movements in
the second piece were still very lively. When the musicians started to play Allegro vivace, I noticed
the lower notes. Furthermore, this movement was not as fast as the other movements in the first
piece. The lower notes caused the movement to be more dramatic, and it reminded me of a rainstorm
that eventually gets cleared up, but comes back. Everyone was playing the same notes during the
end of this movement, and it was very loud. Andante scherzando was very different. The piece was
normal paced, a little bit legato, with some staccato notes. There were tempo changes, but it was the
most calming out of all the pieces. The cello stands out in this movement because the notes are
legato until the cello begins to play staccato notes, and the other four players also play staccato
notes. Similar to Intermezzo: Andante sostenuto, this piece also ends with soft bounces after an
enormous build up in dynamics. Adagio e lento starts off within the lower register of notes and is
also dramatic. The music reminded me of music that would play if

Critique Of Piano Critique
For my piano critique, I went to see Sean Cavanaugh with accompaniment of Dominic Muzzi, play
Ludwig van Beethoven's Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15. This recital was performed on campus,
in Recital Hall November 6, 2017 at 8:30pm. Both Cavanaugh and Muzzi performed their portion of
the piece on the piano.
Cavanaugh was the lead pianist, so he had the piano closer to the audience while Muzzi was farther
back. Something that I found interesting, was that Muzzi was dressed in all dark colors, while
Cavanaugh wore a white collared shirt. This choice in outfit definitely drew the audience's attention
to Cavanaugh as the lead pianist, while helping Muzzi blend into the background. This denotation of
Cavanaugh as the lead was continued in the bows, where Cavanaugh would always stand partially in
front of Muzzi.
Both pianist performed very well together. I noticed that they would give each other nonverbal cues
like nods or glances to indicate when they were finishing their part or when the other should
respond. This communication served really well, as both pianists complimented each other and
timed their playing near perfectly.
Cavanaugh was very animated while playing. His head would bob with the music and during the
dramatic low notes of the music, sometimes he would play those with his whole body, coming up
slightly off the chair to add to the force of the sound. Muzzi would also bob his head along to the
music, but not nearly as energetically as Cavanaugh did.

Amagio Symphony 8 Analysis
In the first sonata there is a very nice trio playing a smooth and intimate section. A very slow
moving part that is rather simple in its virtuosity but rich in its harmonies is a perfect introduction to
the sonata, creating a gentle atmosphere to the listener. Moving on to the allegro part (part ll) the
music begins to become slightly more virtuosic at around 40 seconds in to the section we can hear
the violins begun to expand their range, playing in a call and response style. Completely opposite to
the first section this section becomes lively very quickly at around 15 seconds the violin begins to
expand to an ascending arpeggio and is brought back into the piece throughout this section. The
Adagio section as expected slows down and becomes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The harpsichord changes the sound of the instruments by its plucking sound adding to the long
holding string notes it makes a very relaxing and distinctive sound. The tempo suits the music
perfectly. The speed of the harpsichord compliments the strings and emphasises the dragged out
notes in the string section. Moving on to the next section, the Allegro section. Slightly similar to the
first section in sound, the change in tempo is very noticeable in the first couple of notes playing by
the solo violin followed by a chord at 4 second in instantly grabs the attention of the listener and
indicates what will be following. A more lively part with accented notes at around a minute in and
ornaments make the section a lot more interesting. Followed by another Allegro section, Corelli
does not change the sound too much from the previous section. The harpsichord plays a very chord
base role, sometimes ascending in semitones with the strings playing a bit louder creating it quite a
faint sound in the background. The final section of this sonata, like the previous two is allegro.
Similar to the last section, this opens with a brief solo from the violin followed by all other
instruments at 2 seconds in. Continuing with the liveliness of the previous section, this part keeps
the piece moving at a nice energetic speed that is pleasant and perfect for the music that is being

I attended the University Symphony Orchestra's "An Evening of Handel, Schubert, and
Haydn" on Thursday, September 30, 2003 in the Daniel Recital Hall. The hall was much more
crowded than I expected. At the beginning of the concert, the orchestra was seated on the stage; the
men wore tuxedos, and the women wore black dresses or pants. The concertmaster came out to tune
the orchestra, and then the conductor made his entrance and gave a brief description of the piece that
was about to be played.

The melody has an ascending shape as it moves in a crescendo. The fast tempo of this section
creates an exciting and energetic mood. The Lentement section has a slow pace and is played in a
minor key. It is homophonic and in duple meter. The tempo creates a smooth and relaxing mood.
This section features a decrescendo and is conjunct with a relatively narrow range. Finally, the
Allegro section is repeated.
Schubert's Symphony No. 8 in B minor was composed during the Romantic era. The instruments
heard include the trombone, flute, oboe, bassoon–members of the aerophone family–as well as the
violin, viola, cello, and double bass–all chordophones. This piece has an overall homophonic
texture. The genre is a symphony, which is divided into two movements: Allegro moderato and
Andante con moto. The Allegro moderato follows sonata–allegro form. There are two themes
presented, and the movement is in triple meter in a minor key. It begins at a soft (piano) dynamic
level and grows in a crescendo. It is generally conjunct with a narrow range that eventually expands
into a wide range. The softness opening creates a dramatic atmosphere filled with emotion. This
movement illustrates a recapitulation–the restatement of themes, since the main two themes recur
throughout the piece.

Biography Of Johannes Brahms : Allegro Giocoso From...
Johannes Brahms – Allegro giocoso from Symphony No.4 in E minor, Op. 98
Objective Reaction: The first movement began with a very strong texture as the music reflected a
very powerful theme. It began with the heavy instrumentation from the strings including cellos,
violins, and basses. The tempo was also relatively fast and generally upbeat. About a minute and
half in there was a very noticeable solo by the violins which was a bit softer in terms of the texture.
The melody seemed to be very upbeat and cheerful. Lasting the form of the movement was very
well structured and the instruments backed each other up smoothly.
Subjective Reaction: Overall I actually enjoyed the piece more than I thought I would. It had a nice
tempo that allowed listeners to be engaged and even when the volume dropped the violins played a
softer texture as if they were inviting you to listen closer and pay more attention. Generally, the
theme was also joyful which I took notice of and enjoyed. Lastly, I didn't notice any musical
mistakes, and thought the piece was well played.
Lou Harrison – Music from Canticle No. 3
Objective Reaction: The second movement began with a solo from a wind instrument which I am
not familiar. It seemed to be somewhat of a cross between a harmonica and maybe an African flute.
This solo was guided by a guitar which provided an enticing rhythm. Also the tempo seemed to be
much slower but it provided an eerie mysterious theme to the music which

Allegro By Muis Tranströmer
Tomas Tranströmer has been acknowledged as one of the most influential poets in Sweden, and this
was confirmed when, in 2011, he received the Nobel Prize for Literature, with the motivation,
"because, through his condensed, translucent images, he gives us fresh access to reality". This can
not be denied when enjoying his poetry. However what is often overlooked is his ability to join
together several great art–forms into his poetry, including music. Being something that he has
openly admitted to being his true passion, even above poetry itself. In some selected examples of
Tranströmer's poetry, the use of music goes above using it as metaphor and imagery, to include its
influence on meter and form. These factors collected, can form a great ... Show more content on

This gives the poem an upbeat yet soothing rhythm, despite it not following a specific poetic
structure. Which can be compared to the poets experience of playing the Haydn piece after a tough
day, thus letting the reader also experience this. The fast pace and playfulness which is the
consequence of only using couplets within the poem, reflects the inspiration of Haydn's allegro
pieces, proving that the translator in this case, made an advantageous choice when looking at
structure. The soothing feeling is intensified by the words used to describe the playing of the music,
"green, lively and calm." (4). The use of contrasts in the poem also reflects the allegro tempo of
Haydn's music, such as, "Soft hammers strike." (3). The connections made between music and
freedom mentioned earlier is interesting, as poetry can sometime be considered confining due to the
necessity of being economical with your language, which he demonstrates in "Allegro". This may be
a reason why Tranströmer prefers music to poetry. However overall the poem gives the impression
that music is retreat for the

four movements. Affetuoso feeling, tenderly, Allegro lively, fast, Larghetto slowly, steadily, and
Allegro energetic, fast. Each section had a specific form the first movement reminds one of a slow

Comparison Of Mozart And Brahms Masterwork Concert
The "Mozart and Brahms Masterwork Concert" featured symphonies from composers like Thomas
Adès, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Johannes Brahms. In addition, Johannes Brahms, Symphony
No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98, is a unique symphony that captured my attention. For example, in the
Allegro non Troppo movement, Johannes Brahms incorporated an escalated tempo. From my point
of view, I became intrigued in this particular movement because the orchestra played their
instruments at a fast pace. The Allegro non Troppo movement is spontaneous with its heavy,
amazing bass and sets the energy to a higher degree. This movement progresses quickly, which; the
tempo is on point. Overall, the Allegro non Troppo movement is my favorite movement because of
the tempo the orchestra gave the audience and it reflects in the astonishing instrumental music the
orchestra provides. Pop culture does not compare in that texture of the orchestra because of their
depth harmony and beautiful space they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I heard this movement, I pictured the sun, clouds, and ducklings hopping around a pond. Then
out of nowhere the hyped tempo from the beginning, transitions into a horrendous tempo. It was not
my cup of tea and I did not like it as much as the Allegro non Troppo movement. However, I must
admit it does have a pattern, plus the tempo makes sense. On the other hand, Johannes Brahms,
Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98, third movement, the Allegro Giocoso, had my heart pounding!
This movement played bells which sounded smooth, however; the bass provided an intense feeling.
I witnessed how the bells had an impact in the overall piece. Additionally, I thought the fast tempo
transitions during this movement became clever. The Allegro Giocoso provided my ears with a
symphony that started off a little slow and had a descending format. Moreover, the descending
format made me envision a cloudy, grey

Schubert's Symphony No. 9 in C major was composed between the spring of 1825 and the winter of
1826. The work was premiered in its entirety (minus a few cuts) on March 21, 1839, over 10 years
after the composer's death. Robert Schumann was the man largely responsible for the premiere, as
he had discovered the manuscript while on a visit to see Schubert's brother, Ferdinand. Schumann
entrusted his friend Felix Mendelssohn with the score and the task of bringing the music to the
public, offering the following sentiment: "Here, besides sheer musical mastery of the technique of

Schubert not only handles an abundance of melodies with dexterity and innovation, but he also
shows his mastery of rhythmic variation and dynamic impact in the lively Allegro movement proper.
The beautifully contrasting second movement features a sonatina design with no real development.
The six rhythmic themes are presented in a strikingly systemic manner that highlights the
movement's pure architecture, a feature that makes it an important model throughout the 19th
century. The spirit of the Scherzo, in which Schubert follows the Venetian model, is in one word
"Beethovenian." In this movement, one can hear far–reaching harmonic trips (C major C# minor) as
well as richly scored dance tunes, which Schubert was known to often improvise at dances and
gatherings. The last movement of the work is an explosion of fearless energy and virtuosity. In a
central episode, Schubert incorporates an echo of "Ode to Joy" as homage to the great symphonic
figurehead and his personal hero, Beethoven. The resilience that can be heard in the intense
jubilation and exhilaration of the finale of his last symphony parallels Schubert's remarkable outlook
on life until the very

The third movement of the piece is introduced by the crescending tones of the brass, woodwind, and
the string section. The first part of this movement is very repetitious with gradual crescendo and the
decrescendo tempo of the string and woodwind sections. As the movement continues the tone
changes from fast to a more mellow and exciting tone and back to fast.
The finale which is the fourth movement of the musical symphony began with repetitious notes
crescendoing into Allegro con fuoco. All sections of the symphony introduced the movement with
Fortissimo notes, the brass and bass are the sections that emphasized the fortissimo of the first part
of the movement. Throughout the middle half of this movement the repetition of notes are repeated
from the first half of notes then decrescendo into a more relaxing tone played by the woodwind and
string section and Crescendo back into the repetitious fortissimo notes of the first half. This piece

the string and woodwind sections.

things happen for a reason and not in any kind of order. Wideman also claims that people do not

not justify their actions. How rediculous would it life be if every time a close friend or family
member died someone would go on a crime spree. But metaphorically speaking it gives us a canvas
paint a picture on. After the epilogue Wideman jumps straight into an important part of the story, the
death of Robby's friend Garth in Robby's point of view. This is important because this is what sparks
Robby's behavioral changes. Then John, as an outsider looking in on the situation moves onto how
he views Robby. He understands Robby's behavior is wrong but he lets it go because of all the awful
things that Robby has gone through growing up. Wideman now finds that his mother is starting to
accept that Robby is a product of his environment and the events lead up to his wrong doings. John
visits Robby in prison and finally opens the lines of communication between each other. They
decide to write a book together but John doubted himself. John did not trust himself with Robby's
story because he was tempted to make it his own. The first story Robby talks about is his friend Gar

  • 3. Benedictus Play In Mass in D, there are no introductions at the beginning of movements, except in the case of "Benedictus" (Dvořák added two measures of introduction in the orchestra version). Since amateur choirs often have a limited background in reading music, teaching intervals during rehearsal is another important key to success. The author found it important to teach amateur singers how to obtain the first note in every movement. In the first movement, "Kyrie," the last chord ends in D major. Sopranos hold the tonic, altos hold the third, tenors hold the fifth, and basses hold the tonic. As tenors are taking the lead on the second movement, "Gloria," the first note of their part is the tonic of D. It is important to teach the amateur singers to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the high notes in the tenor part on measures 113–114, singing an octave from G3 to G4, could be challenging for amateur singers as this is a high pitch that requires a soft dynamic. The author suggests that the conductor use a falsetto voice or simply assign only the Tenor I to sing. For soprano, the highest note is G5 in this movement. The most challenging section would be measure 83, singing the repeating G5 and then moving down by a half step to F–sharp5. This could create intonation problems for amateur singers. In this section, the basses are holding the D4 for three beats, which could be a challenge for amateur singers as well. The author would suggest the conductor not to sing this part too heavily although it is marked as forte in the score. Movement II – "Gloria" In Gloria, the highest and lowest notes for each voice are as follows: The sopranos and tenors on measure 17 are holding A5 (A4 for tenors) for three and a half beats with the dynamic of fortissimo. It could be a challenge for the amateur singers. Therefore, care must be taken. The conductor could ask the singers not to sing too heavily so as to avoid vocal fault, but to "think" of support. One of the most effective tools in teaching amateur singers to sing on a high pitch correctly is to "think" opposite when singing the high note, and also to bend their knees when singing the high note during the rehearsal. Movement III – "Credo" In the "Credo," the highest and lowest notes for each voice are as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis Of Music Is A Universal Language: Starkville/MSU... Music is a Universal Language Starkville/MSU Symphony, Live At Lee Hall On Friday, November 6th, I had the pleasure to witness the Starkville/MSU Symphony performing a plethora of classical pieces all conveying the message that music is most certainly a universal language. The program was set in Lee Hall. The hall itself has two levels, one is the ground level and the other is the balcony level. The stage was lighted very nicely and helped each instrumentalist stand out uniquely. The stringed instruments were in the front and the brass section was in the back, along with the percussion. The symphony directors were standing in the front of the stage. There was also a special performance by the children's orchestra called the Sudduth Children's ... Its Allegro was very inspiring and had and effect like a thunder and lightning. It uses sonata allegro from in the first movement. Then, it establishes this lead composition to use its variations and convey different emotions. It then has moments where it is very slow and touching, just as beautiful as sounds of flowing water, calm and serene. However, other times we get a feeling of inspired courage and determination comparable to marching of soldiers. In my opinion, the ending form of the sonata allegro is the most splendid and satisfying, as it is both soft and emotional yet aggressive. It is a fine end to a great piece, and produces a great sense of gratification. In conclusion, after this experience, I have become a symphony enthusiast. In addition, Iam now also particularly fond of Antonin Dvorak's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Vivaldi is known mainly for composing instrumental concertos, especially for the violin, as well as sacred choral works and over 40 operas. • 9. Comparing Milton's L 'Allegro And Il' Peneroso In "L'Allegro" and "Il'Peneroso", Milton discusses two personalities that foretell the joys and dilemmas in each. Through the two poems, Milton juxtaposes the life of commoners, who rejoice in Mirth, and the intellectual, who finds solace in Melancholy. While Milton sanctions the authenticity of both lifestyles, he equates the life of "Il'Peneroso" with intellectual and religious hierarchy; therefore, Milton edifies the borders of social class that comprised human echelons of the 17th century. Oftentimes within the two poems, Milton associates the character in "Il'Peneroso" with celestial achievement and the characters in "L'Allegro" with common folklore. In "Il'Peneroso", the narrator with holy reverence worships the Goddess Melancholy comparing her to a pure, chaste Nun (line 32). Additionally, the character of "Il'Peneroso" foresees himself in a quiet, reverential monastery (169). Milton characterizes "Il'Peneroso" as a lone religious intellectual, ranking "Il'Peneroso" high on the pyramid like structure. With the equation of "Il'Peneroso" to religion, Milton identifies "Il'Peneroso" as the preferred lifestyle. On the contrary, Milton parallels the characters of "L'Allegro" with folklore tales of Friar's Lantern and the Hobgoblin (104–105). • 11. The Musical Deviance : Allegro Ma Non Troppo Andante–Allegro ma non troppo The noble theme announced by two horns at the beginning is a masterful touch, simple in itself, but with such a sweeping effect that even the least attentive listeners notice that something out of the ordinary begins. Immediately afterwards the orchestra picks up the theme, develops it, prolongs it and provides a wide range of instrumental colors. Finally, a crescendo takes us to the main theme characterized by the punctuated rhythm of the string and the triplets of the wood. But, before the development takes place, a secondary theme is introduced that broadens the punctated rhythm and then moves to E minor, appearing the second theme, a delicate melody played by the oboes and bassoons. Finally, three short waves of the whole orchestra cause the end of the exhibition, a long and imaginative development of all the ingredients that until now have played an important part. The recapitulation is normal, apart from the appearance of the second theme in C minor, and then after the three waves the music picks up the step for the coda. With a triumphant re– exposure by the whole orchestra of the initial theme of the horn, the movement concludes. Concerto for Violin and Cello, Op.102 (Brahms, Johannes) First movement – Allegro. The first one was Symphony No.4 by Beethoven, the second was Concerto no. 1 for Piano and Orchestra by Alberto Ginastera, and finally was La valse by Maurice Ravel. Overall, this concert had a great variety from very melodic pieces to suspenseful music. The first piece was Symphony No. 4 in b–flat Major by Beethoven. This piece had four parts: adagio–allegro, Adagio, Allegro vivace, and Allegro ma non troppo. It consists of violins, cellos, violas, tubas, and flutes. This symphony was written in the summer 1806 and was first performed at the palace of Prince Lobkowitz in Vienna. This concerto has also four parts:Cadenza e varianti, Scherzo allucinante Adagissimo, and toccata concertata. Overall, this piece has mysterious music, is dramatic, and over the top. The music reminds a scary scene in a horror movie due to its suspenseful aspect. The first movement starts with a suspenseful mood with dramatic music that continues until the end of the piece. There is a series of quick crescendos and bold declamation of the piano. The second piece is faster yet quiet and continues with the mysterious theme. The third piece has adagissimo tempo like the title explains, and has a viola solo. At moments the orchestra quiets down to emphasize the piano solo which adds suspense to the overall piece. • 15. Essay on Examining the Pathetique Sonata Examining The Pathetique Sonata At the start of the nineteenth century, the world of music made a transition from the Classic Period of composition to what is now known as the Romantic Era. Composers experimented with more expressive and songlike melodies while pianists developed higher skill levels to match the increased technical demands of the pieces. One man who embodied this particular transitional period was Ludwig van Beethoven. Beethoven was one of the first composers to stray from traditional forms of music and incorporate a broader range of pitch and dynamics into his compositions. In 1798 Beethoven composed the Sonata No. 8 in C Minor, which incorporates many romantic elements of music. Often referred to as The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theme begins quietly in piano, but tension builds as the left hand rumbles back and forth between octaves. A subtle crescendo eventually leads to a stunning virtuoso passage that incorporates the use of a cross–hand technique and modulates into the key of E flat major. This key change is carried over throughout the remainder of the exposition and into the closing, which is typical of the sonata allegro from. What makes this first movement unique is the fact that the introductory Grave theme is repeated both at the beginning of the development section and in the coda. This was not typical of pieces written during the late eighteenth century and proved to be one of Beethoven's initial experiments with the sonata allegro form. The second movement of Beethoven's eighth sonata entitled Adagio cantabile is strikingly different from the fast pace and thundering themes of the first movement. It opens with eight bars of a beautiful and delicate melody that most people can readily identify. It is this songlike melody of the second movement that many romantic composers attempted to emulate in their compositions. After the introduction of this melody, the movement progresses in a traditional rondo form as new themes are introduced, and the initial melody is repeated. The initial theme is written in the key of A flat and is repeated a total of three times during the movement. It is followed the first time by a theme beginning in the key ... • 17. Felix Mendelssohn Symphony 4 Essay Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 in A Major, Op. 90 Movement 1 is in sonata–allegro form. His musical style is mostly classical with a few incorporations from the Romantic style. The theme of the first movement is introduced with violins. The tempo is rather fast and bright which labels the first movement as allegro vivace. The texture of the movement is created with the addition of the woodwinds: flutes, clarinets, oboes, horns, and bassoons. The string instruments contain the melody and the brass accompaniment being the timpani, creates the rhythm of the first movement. The woodwinds introduce the second theme of the symphony with the accompaniment of the strings. In contrast, the tempo of Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 2 in D Major Movement 4 is fast and as stated in Music: Our Cultural Evolution it is "lively with spirit" (allegro con spirito). The first theme in the fourth movement is introduced with the brass instruments and following it are the string instruments. The beginning of the fourth movement starts out soft, creating a peaceful atmosphere but there is a sudden shift in the volume to being very loud (fortissimo). Even though the beginning notes were soft, it was noticeable that they were each accented (subito forte). Although there are sudden outbreaks within the piece that can be identified as fortissimo, Brahms is able to make the piece sound unified. The repetition in the middle of the fourth movement strongly expresses the main idea as it is an effort to make the listener become attentive. The texture of this movement may seem overbearing but it pulls the piece together as a whole. The orchestra's dominating sound emphasizes the piece's tonic key being D Major as it should in the last part of any sonata–allegro ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Romantic Era Of Felix Mendelssohn During the romantic era, there were many great composers that made the Romantic period the most innovative in music history. But Felix Mendelssohn is often viewed as a Classical–Romantic composer, whose style paradoxically incorporated elements of formal balance and graceful control on the one hand, and romantic subjectivity and fantasy on the other. Felix Mendelssohn (Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn–Bartholdy) was a German composer, pianist, musical conductor, and teacher, and one of the most–celebrated figures of the early Romantic period. Through his music, he largely observed Classical models and practices while initiating key aspects of Romanticism. Mendelssohn was born of Jewish parents, Abraham and Lea Salomon Mendelssohn, who he first learned piano from. In 1811, during the French occupation of Hamburg, the family had moved to Berlin, where Mendelssohn studied the piano with Ludwig Berger and composition with Carl Friedrich Zelter, who, as a composer and teacher, exerted an enormous influence on his development. Later he traveled with his sister Paris, where he took further piano lessons and where he appears to have become acquainted with the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mendelssohn was an exceptionally gifted musical composer. A prodigy, reared in a highly cultured atmosphere, began composing at age 10, presented his orchestral compositions to illustrious audiences at the family estate. He wrote numerous compositions during his boyhood, among them 5 operas, 11 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At six years old, he started composing. At eight, he began writing his first symphonies. At 12 years old, he produced his first real operas – the German Singspiel and the Bastien und Bastienne. At 14, he set off for Italy to make his own way in being known as an opera composer. The rest as they say was history. It has fast–slow–fast structure and has three movements such as Allegro moderato, Andante and Allegro. Also composed in Salzburg, Mozart wrote the Violin Concerto No. 3 on September 12, 1775. • 25. Comparing LAllegro And Il Penseroso "L'Allegro" and "Il Penseroso", both by Milton, are companion poems. The first describes the happy, joyful man and the second depicts a melancholy, studious, observant man. Both poems adopt similar imagery, meter, and rhyme scheme. The similarities within each poem make analyzing their differences a challenge. An aspect of both poems that is both comparable and succinctly different is the allusion to Orpheus and his wife Eurydice. There are many versions of the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice. To briefly explain, Orpheus, the son of a Muse and a prince, is born with the gift of enchantment through music. With his gift, Orpheus can charm any person or thing to do as he wishes. • 27. Beethoven Accomplishments Ludwig Van Beethoven, (1770–1827) is a dominant figure of the 19th century European Classical music. He was born in Bonn, Germany, and spent most of his life in Vienna, Austria. Beethoven died at the age of 56, and his death was later found to have been caused by post–hepatitic cirrhosis of the liver, which provided clues to the origins of his deafness. His musical life is divided into three different periods: early, middle, and late. Opus 10 No. 3: Piano Sonata No.7 in D Major – First Movement (Presto) The early period of Beethoven's composition extends from approximately 1794 to 1800. In this period, Beethoven seen as copying Joseph Haydn and Muzio Clementi, at the same time exploring his own style of music. Some important pieces from this period are the first and second symphonies, the first six string quartets, the first two piano concertos, and about a dozen piano sonatas. Deriving from Haydn's examples, Beethoven's early piano sonatas have structures ranging from the quite free forms, found in Op. 2 No. 2, to the clarity of form of Op. 22. The moods of the sonatas also vary from aggressiveness of the two C minor sonatas toe the playfulness of Op. 10 No. 2. Moreover, many of these sonatas have four movements, with the third generally termed "minuet" (slow) but occasionally "scherzo" (lively). Perhaps because of Clementi's influence, Beethoven's piano sonatas are the most original of his early period compositions. Characteristics of frequent use of octaves and ... • 29. Symphony No. 9 Summary The concert I watched online was Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" composed by the great Antonin Dvorak. This performance was done by the New York Philharmonic and launched the New York Philharmonic's 175th anniversary season. This concert was performed by an orchestra and was definitely a performance I enjoyed to watch and listen to. In the beginning of the performance, the orchestra begins with an adagio tempo, using instruments such as cellos and violins. The tempo is very slow and soothing until it suddenly interrupted by the sound of trumpets. This is setting a tone that something very dramatic is about to happen. After the trumpets sound, oboes and flutes begin to play using the same adagio tempo as it was used in the beginning of the performance. As the flutes and clarinets slowly stop, you can see the conductor, Alan Gilbert, slowly move his arms apart to instruct the orchestra to get prepared. Gilbert then swings his arms up and the orchestra switches to an allegro tempo by using crescendo. Violins, cellos, drums, French horns, tenor trombones and bass trombones are now used to create a suspenseful tone as if something tragic has just happened. It then changes back to the adagio tempo using instruments with low pitch and then transfers back to the oboes, flutes and violins. The first ten minutes of the performance is a wide variation between adagio and allegro and molto allegro and basically switches tempos between the three which is why I really enjoyed ... • 31. Reflection Of The Illinois Symphony Orchestra The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra Concert on October 14th featured three pieces; The Birds, Concerto for Violin, Cello, Piano, and Orchestra in C Major, and Symphony No.5. All the pieces were lovely and were entertaining to listen to. This concert also featured the Hersh Trio, comprised of Alexander Hersh on the cello, Stefan Hersh on the violin, and Paul Hersh on the piano, which the orchestra accompanied for one piece. The first piece played by the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra was The Birds composed by Ottorino Respighi. Ottorino Respighi is best known for his orchestral tone poems, such as Fountains of Rome. He based his work, The Birds, off of 16th, 17th, and 18th century style music because he had an interest in music from these eras as a musicologist. There are five movements; Preludio, La Colomba, La Gallina, L'Usignolo, and Il Cuccu. They are meant to resemble types of birds. For example, La Colomba means dove, La Gallina means hen. The first movement, Preludio, was light and airy. This was a good piece to start with because of its playful melody. There was a large ritardando into a new melody that clearly resembled sounds of a bird. The second theme sounded fluttery because of the trills. The movement then returned to the first theme and ended on a large chord. The second movement, La Colomba, didn't start out nearly as upbeat and jittery as the previous movement. A couple minutes passed and they started performing String Quintet No. 2 in B– Flat Major, Op. 87. The four movements were Allegro vivace, Andante scherzando, Adagio e lento, and Allegro molto vivace. Overall the movements in this piece were smoother than the first piece. However, the movements in the second piece were still very lively. When the musicians started to play Allegro vivace, I noticed the lower notes. Furthermore, this movement was not as fast as the other movements in the first piece. The lower notes caused the movement to be more dramatic, and it reminded me of a rainstorm that eventually gets cleared up, but comes back. Everyone was playing the same notes during the end of this movement, and it was very loud. Andante scherzando was very different. The piece was normal paced, a little bit legato, with some staccato notes. There were tempo changes, but it was the most calming out of all the pieces. The cello stands out in this movement because the notes are legato until the cello begins to play staccato notes, and the other four players also play staccato notes. Similar to Intermezzo: Andante sostenuto, this piece also ends with soft bounces after an enormous build up in dynamics. Adagio e lento starts off within the lower register of notes and is also dramatic. The music reminded me of music that would play if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This recital was performed on campus, in Recital Hall November 6, 2017 at 8:30pm. Both Cavanaugh and Muzzi performed their portion of the piece on the piano. Cavanaugh was the lead pianist, so he had the piano closer to the audience while Muzzi was farther back. Something that I found interesting, was that Muzzi was dressed in all dark colors, while Cavanaugh wore a white collared shirt. This choice in outfit definitely drew the audience's attention to Cavanaugh as the lead pianist, while helping Muzzi blend into the background. This denotation of Cavanaugh as the lead was continued in the bows, where Cavanaugh would always stand partially in front of Muzzi. Both pianist performed very well together. I noticed that they would give each other nonverbal cues like nods or glances to indicate when they were finishing their part or when the other should respond. This communication served really well, as both pianists complimented each other and timed their playing near perfectly. Cavanaugh was very animated while playing. His head would bob with the music and during the dramatic low notes of the music, sometimes he would play those with his whole body, coming up slightly off the chair to add to the force of the sound. Muzzi would also bob his head along to the music, but not nearly as energetically as Cavanaugh did. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Johannes Brahms – Allegro giocoso from Symphony No.4 in E minor, Op. 98 Objective Reaction: The first movement began with a very strong texture as the music reflected a very powerful theme. It began with the heavy instrumentation from the strings including cellos, violins, and basses. The tempo was also relatively fast and generally upbeat. About a minute and half in there was a very noticeable solo by the violins which was a bit softer in terms of the texture. The melody seemed to be very upbeat and cheerful. Lasting the form of the movement was very well structured and the instruments backed each other up smoothly. Subjective Reaction: Overall I actually enjoyed the piece more than I thought I would. It had a nice tempo that allowed listeners to be engaged and even when the volume dropped the violins played a softer texture as if they were inviting you to listen closer and pay more attention. Generally, the theme was also joyful which I took notice of and enjoyed. Lastly, I didn't notice any musical mistakes, and thought the piece was well played. Lou Harrison – Music from Canticle No. 3 Objective Reaction: The second movement began with a solo from a wind instrument which I am not familiar. Allegro By Muis Tranströmer Tomas Tranströmer has been acknowledged as one of the most influential poets in Sweden, and this was confirmed when, in 2011, he received the Nobel Prize for Literature, with the motivation, "because, through his condensed, translucent images, he gives us fresh access to reality". This can not be denied when enjoying his poetry. However what is often overlooked is his ability to join together several great art–forms into his poetry, including music. Being something that he has openly admitted to being his true passion, even above poetry itself. Which can be compared to the poets experience of playing the Haydn piece after a tough day, thus letting the reader also experience this. The fast pace and playfulness which is the consequence of only using couplets within the poem, reflects the inspiration of Haydn's allegro pieces, proving that the translator in this case, made an advantageous choice when looking at structure. The soothing feeling is intensified by the words used to describe the playing of the music, "green, lively and calm." (4). The use of contrasts in the poem also reflects the allegro tempo of Haydn's music, such as, "Soft hammers strike." (3). The connections made between music and freedom mentioned earlier is interesting, as poetry can sometime be considered confining due to the necessity of being economical with your language, which he demonstrates in "Allegro". Jamie Allegro had been just a normal unemployed fifteen year old boy in Texas just trying to work his way up to getting his college degree, in which he hadn't thought about his future much, he just did what society told him to do. His mother, Diana Allegro had been a veterinarian for around twenty years, a caring mother, but often brought pets that Jamie or Diana's husband was allergic to. His father, Charles Allegro, was this cranky person, according to Jamie, who never really was around. He was a certified public accountant, that was 3 years younger than Jamie's mother. In the past, Jamie was very gullible, doing so made him believe that Santa was real until age twelve. He tries to be socially acceptable to others and would trust most ideas ... • 65. Concert Report : Concert At Hostel Pangea Concert Report #1 Last Saturday I attended a small concert in Tijuana, Mexico. I went to a Jaeng Band concert at Hostel Pangea. Hostel Pangea is a small coffee and bar place located in Tijuana. It hosts events and workshops for all ages. It was not what I expected, since it was my first time in a punk/rock concert. I actually thought I would feel very uncomfortable and out of place, but not, it was a very friendly place, and all the people there were very nice and outgoing. It was a great experience and I like the music style. Since it was a small concert, I had the opportunity to talk to one of the members of the band, Josh. He was very friendly and approachable, I asked him some questions, and he didn't have any problem responding them. Jaeng Band is a punk/ rock band, and it was founded in Olympia, Washington on August 2015. The band has 5 members, Tannrr, Meg, Jake, Josh, and Kaveh. As Josh said "Jake and I wanted to play raw mangled d– beat, but there was a severe shortage of that in Olympia. So, even though, they are an American band, they always try to look for places around the world to play their music, and succeed not only in the United States. Last week, they performed in Tijuana, Mexico. They had performed in Mexico many times, to be able to do this, they look for music promoters. Music promoters are in charge of pick them up at the airport, take them to the hotel, and look for a place in which they will perform. Once they have set up the date, and the place ... Allegro vivace Schubert's Symphony No. 9 in C major was composed between the spring of 1825 and the winter of 1826. The work was premiered in its entirety (minus a few cuts) on March 21, 1839, over 10 years after the composer's death. Robert Schumann was the man largely responsible for the premiere, as he had discovered the manuscript while on a visit to see Schubert's brother, Ferdinand. Schumann entrusted his friend Felix Mendelssohn with the score and the task of bringing the music to the public, offering the following sentiment: "Here, besides sheer musical mastery of the technique of composition is, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schubert not only handles an abundance of melodies with dexterity and innovation, but he also shows his mastery of rhythmic variation and dynamic impact in the lively Allegro movement proper. The beautifully contrasting second movement features a sonatina design with no real development. The six rhythmic themes are presented in a strikingly systemic manner that highlights the movement's pure architecture, a feature that makes it an important model throughout the 19th century. The spirit of the Scherzo, in which Schubert follows the Venetian model, is in one word "Beethovenian." In this movement, one can hear far–reaching harmonic trips (C major C# minor) as well as richly scored dance tunes, which Schubert was known to often improvise at dances and gatherings. The last movement of the work is an explosion of fearless energy and virtuosity. In a central episode, Schubert incorporates an echo of "Ode to Joy" as homage to the great symphonic figurehead and his personal hero, Beethoven. The resilience that can be heard in the intense jubilation and exhilaration of the finale of his last symphony parallels Schubert's remarkable outlook on life until the very ... • 69. New World Symphony On July 20, 2017, I watched Dvořák's "New World" Symphony that was a very amazing piece. The symphony consisted of four movements that played: Adagio–Allegro molto, Largo, Scherzo, and Allegro con fuoco, which were all enthusiastic movements and all were full of energy. The first movement of Dvořák's "New World" Symphony, by Alan Gilbert's farewell season was Adagio– Allegro molto. The first movement opened up with the string and woodwind instruments playing adagio until the appearance of the brass family that punctuated the intro. The woodwind section continues play adagio while the string section makes an appearance and join, although the main tempo of the symphony was adagio, From 1:20 to 1:35 all sections of the orchestra joined and played ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third movement of the piece is introduced by the crescending tones of the brass, woodwind, and the string section. The first part of this movement is very repetitious with gradual crescendo and the decrescendo tempo of the string and woodwind sections. As the movement continues the tone changes from fast to a more mellow and exciting tone and back to fast. The finale which is the fourth movement of the musical symphony began with repetitious notes crescendoing into Allegro con fuoco. All sections of the symphony introduced the movement with Fortissimo notes, the brass and bass are the sections that emphasized the fortissimo of the first part of the movement. Throughout the middle half of this movement the repetition of notes are repeated from the first half of notes then decrescendo into a more relaxing tone played by the woodwind and string section and Crescendo back into the repetitious fortissimo notes of the first half. This piece ends with a crescendo by the string, brass, bass sections then slowly ending with a decrescendo of the string and woodwind sections. Throughout the experience of hearing Dvořák's "New World" Symphony and the four movements apart of it, I was able to identify the performing talents of the different instruments and the way they impacted this ... • 71. Essay An Injustice for All in Sonata Allegro Form An Injustice for All in Sonata Allegro Form Wideman's quotation from Brothers and Keepers could be interpreted to say a number of different things. The interpretation I could make is no person could explain the reason things are the way they are in life. In trying to come up with a logical answer they dwell on it and it becomes even more confusing. Afterwards they settle upon the conclusion that things happen for a reason and not in any kind of order. Wideman also claims that people do not have the power to control their own destinies. They are simply a product of their own environments and the events that make and shape them. John Edgar Wideman's "Our Time" is an essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The epilogue helps me to kind of understand where John and Robby are coming from but still does not justify their actions. How rediculous would it life be if every time a close friend or family member died someone would go on a crime spree. But metaphorically speaking it gives us a canvas paint a picture on. After the epilogue Wideman jumps straight into an important part of the story, the death of Robby's friend Garth in Robby's point of view. This is important because this is what sparks Robby's behavioral changes. Then John, as an outsider looking in on the situation moves onto how he views Robby. He understands Robby's behavior is wrong but he lets it go because of all the awful things that Robby has gone through growing up. Wideman now finds that his mother is starting to accept that Robby is a product of his environment and the events lead up to his wrong doings. John visits Robby in prison and finally opens the lines of communication between each other. They decide to write a book together but John doubted himself. John did not trust himself with Robby's story because he was tempted to make it his own. The first story Robby talks about is his friend Gar in the hospital. Gar seems very sick, he's stuck in a hospital bed. He was misdiagnosed by the doctors and dies because of it. After the death of Gar, Robby turned into a hardcore gangster. He vowed to make it to the top of the "street world". This was his own choice. No one told him he had to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
