The Role Of Refugees In Inside Out And Back Again
The universal refugee experience of fleeing and finding home relates to the title Inside Out and Back
Again in the way it shows how refugees tend to feel when fleeing and finding new homes, as well as
how it is shown in Há's story. Há, for example, was very stubborn and jealous of her brothers. She
was competitive, independent, and strong willed. When she comes to her new home, she eventually
becomes more agreeable, more decisive, and more emotional altogether. This shows us how she
changes, how she turns inside out, and how she turns back again. Refugees all around the world
experience similar things, including this change in personality. Há and her family had changed
completely when they were forced from their home, which happens to almost ... Show more content

Although it may take time, things will eventually stop being backwards. Refugees begin to go back
to a normal life, although it is not exactly how it was previously. Their lives tend to change back as
they get more comfortable. The adjustments to their new home make them feel like they belong
once they can understand the language, the culture, and the people. They will no longer be lost in the
dark unable to figure out what is going on. "Here, I don't have that problem anymore" (Brice 2).
"Our lives will twist and twist, intermingling the old and the new until it doesn't matter which is
which" (Lai 257). Their old lives eventually won't matter anymore. They will be able to do whatever
they wish again, because the life they have now will replace their old one. They will have finally
gone "back again" to the way they were

My Perceptions Of The Environment And The Amount Of Control
Based on my responses to my perceptions of the environment and the amount of control I feel I
have, the VISA evaluation validated my perception about my leadership proficiencies. This
evaluation indicated a "Dominance" personality as a leader. According to my VISA profile there is a
strong emphasis on Vision and Action which echoes the dimensions that form my leadership style.
Interdependence and Structure have been indicated to be the less developed areas in my evaluation
profile. This also confirms my perceptions as I find rigorous adherence to policies and procedures
sometimes stifling progress and my dominant preference of action approach resonance with my
desire to be goal oriented, action driven to achieve results and freedom to make quick decisions.
Having Vision couple with Action reaffirms my personality in a sense that I am future–orientated,
love creativity and innovative thinking, and tends to seek unique accomplishments and innovative
solutions. I enjoy tackling varies activities and embrace a wide range of tasks. I am also high in
conscientiousness and tend to use a systematic approach on problem solving. When working with
others, I have a tendency to be diplomatic and use an indirect approach to avoid conflict. This
illustrative VISA profile is therefore well–aligned with my character and leadership assessment.
While Vision is more dominant, the Action element compliments my behavioural drive for my
visionary outlook. I embrace change and view the use of

Training Conference For My Assessment
Self–Assessment 4
I've recently been doing training for work and used the training conference for my assessment.
During the training session, it was very apparent when the trainer answered a question in an
irrelevant manner and although she spoke in an upbeat manner, her responses could sometimes
sound impersonal and ambiguous. Since she spoke in the same friendly tone throughout, it was very
hard to read her actual feelings during it. I found that when I needed to ask a question, I would wait
and see if someone else had the same question first and depending on how she was answering
things, I typically did not bother. Once I could tell her true emotions on certain subjects by the
different cues and responses that she gave, I began to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe I handled it fine, I was able to help myself get what I needed. I understand other people's
emotions and can decipher them from non–verbal and verbal cues and manage my emotions in
response to theirs. I could use more practice on shutting down when I find the other person's mood
or opinion offensive that tends to make me stop listening and ignore the message.
Self–Assessment 5
My Personal Power Profile revealed that I prefer to influence others using legitimate power and
expert power equally. My next preference was reward and referent power equally also and very
close in rank to my first preference. However, I have no regards for coercive power, scoring the
lowest for me with a 6. The results are very much in line with how I try to live, always building my
own skills and knowledge and exerting power within my position to achieve desired results as
necessary. Within my legitimate power, I often administer rewards and incentives and have noticed
how respect and admiration for a coworker, employee, or supervisor influences my responses and
actions with them.
My strengths are in positive political behavior, I like to work towards shared values and
collaboration and I evaluate whether something is right to do. Although, I tend to focus on positive
traits and behavior, I sometimes see my non–egocentric

Speech Distracting Essay
In the informative speech, I didn't many things that were admired and distracting during the speech,
and I hope to improve on those distracting interrupting acts on my next speech. During the speech, I
did some items that were a little distracting through the speech. As I watched my speech I noticed I
had some awkward pauses, bad transitions, some um's, and a little stuttering throughout the speech.
If you look at the speech I tend to stutter which is a little distracting. Talking about the festival
Diwali I talk about Rangoli and its colored pattern I stutter and forget what I am explaining. Another
thing I could improve on is my transitions when hearing the speech, the transitions are a little rough
and not as smooth. During the transition when I switch from talking about the celebrations to the
language I say, "with all these celebrations it tends to bring many religions and languages together"
doesn't really make sense and could be spoken a little smoother. Stuttering is also a part of the
speech I did during the speech which distracting. Throughout the speech, I stutter during different
parts and one of those parts being when I am talking about the different traditions when eating
Indian food. I say, "some of the traditions when people eat in India are well we all we eat on our
hands," which is a little annoying. During the speech, I also said um's during the speech. When
citing my source on languages I said some ums, repeating the citation from the notecard. During the
speech I had a little tough time with stuttering at moments, saying some um's, bad transitions, and
some pauses in the future I tend to improve it for the next speech. During the speech, I was also a
good speaker in many ways. I had a good voice projection, my hand moment was consistent, I was
always facing the audience and held eye contact, and had facial expressions to emphasize the
importance of a topic. Right off the bat when I was explaining my citation saying According to the
U.S Census Bureau "there are alone 5.7% Asian's in the United States," I was pointing my hands to
make sure everyone was paying attention to the numbers. Another thing I did well during the speech
was, that I kept eye contact with everyone during the speech

The Naked Eye And Inner Eye Of Bishop
Naked Eye and Inner Eye of Bishop From the perspective of a normal person with penetrating
perception and description instead of omniscient point of view (or God), the poetry of Elisabeth
Bishop tend to allow the truth drift itself with seemingly natural expression. There is realism,
lyricism and romanticism in her work, all melded in a most individual manner of perception and
poetry–making, and I would try to analyze the diversity of the vision angles of her work.
1. The naked eye––a painter's eye
Wonderful details may be one of the most impressive characters, but with so many details come
together, how can the world be see serially and cohere? I think the description is usually under the
drive of a painter's mind.

Isn't it a beautiful but gloomy fairy tale? "I was crazy about fairy tales––Andersen, Grimm and so
on.{20}"Bishop answered when she was asked about the book she read as a child. The reason for
the fancy might be that it was the heyday of surrealism or the necessity of expression, but I would
like to appreciate the it as the special way to memorize and reflection on her sense of childhood and
present life.
Fairy tale provide the perspective of an innocent child who just paints and show her work proudly to
her grandmother. But the fancy of the almanac, stove and tears is the implication of the unavoidable
and everlasting suffering of one's life. Bishop maybe tend to tell the little Bishop that "it's time to
plant tears, it's time to nourish your pursuit with setbacks of life, just appreciate it!"
Besides, it's also the childlike innocence in her inner world that encourage herself to face the
hardship and depression with hope (but still a mixture of gloomy and brilliance). Maybe the almanac
on the wall is also telling the enlightenment of our fate in the unseen world, and why not anticipate
the blossom of our "art" by planting our

Workplace Reflection Essay
There are racial things happening all around us every day but many times people can block it out or
don't notice it because it seems normal. This week I decided to watch and see what racial or gender
type things happen at my place of work. I work at a restaurant in downtown Green Bay, it a bit more
expensive than most places. I'm going to cover the way customers are served and how they are
treated and how things are a little more advanced in the kitchen staff. First of all, I am a host at the
restaurant so I watch closely to make sure all tables are getting service, when a table is first sat the
table is greeted by the server in a happy tone Usually if the customers reply back in a happy way and
friendly way that table will get more attention from the server throughout their time at the
restaurant. When the customer tends to treat the server more as a servant and not as a real person the
servers tend to not check up on the table as much because the table doesn't seem friendly. Another
thing I noticed is that when a table sits and they are dressed nicely and servers my pay more
attention to them compared to a table that is in sweatpants. Servers pay more attention to the tables
that are dressed nicely because they expect them to tip better, I have seen this first hand with two
tables sat at about the same time and the family dressed nicer tip decently and the table in sweats
tipped 74 cents on a $35 bill. Now I know that I don't know the financial backgrounds of these two
families but this is a more expensive restaurant so customers tend to spend more than going to a Red
Robins. Another factor in how you are served at a restaurant is younger couples and elderly couples
are less likely to tip well. Younger couples tend to be seen as not having significant funds to pay and
tip well. Elderly couples are seen as small tippers because they are used to saving and a lower
tipping percentage. For a long time the tipping percentage was 15% percent but over the last few
years, it has been raised to about 18% to 20%. Next, I want to talk about how usually when you
think of a restaurants kitchen staff you may think low–income men maybe even Mexican. At the
restaurant, I work at we have a wide variety of people that work

Examples Of Classification Of Business Students
Classification of Business Students
As members of a team studying at State Colleges, students are individuals. As a team, however, they
are a collage of different individuals working together to achieve a common goal. The goal, in this
case, is a business management degree. No matter how common their goal is as a team, students, as
individuals, have a unique path to achieving it.
Some team members have an interactive style. In other words, they have the tendency to be fast–
paced, and spontaneous. This is fine and works well with a couple of the dominant styles in the
group as they see eye to eye on the speed of completing tasks. On the other hand, there is a cautious
style with the team that has a slower paced approach to tasks. ... Show more content on

Nonetheless, they must always maintain perspective by seeking to be less emotional and intense
about non–critical situations. Taking a stress management course and learning simple breathing
exercises to deal with pressure will be best for an impresser.
Another style is the predominantly behavioral cautious style, which is also known as the master
minder. The master minder is said to be more guarded and less indirect than most other cautious
styles. The primary goal motivating this type of behavior is to increase opportunities for unique and
significant personal accomplishments. This type of person express themselves more by what he or
she does than what he or she says. Consequently, this person has strong needs to choose their own
goals and to work independently. They incline to be primary idea generators and developers, and
they have little interest in dealing with implementation details. Some of their tendencies are being
focused and self–controlled with people and also being focused on the future, especially in
concerning ideas and opportunities. Sometimes they have a tendency to over–analyze and possibly
procrastinate when they're under pressure. Although they do take some calculated risk when making
decisions, they also enjoy planning, monitoring, and measuring. However, to improve his or her
educational achievements, a person with this type of behavior needs to work on being less guarded
and more direct when communicating with others. They need to commit

Adult Supervision
The concern of whether elementary–school–age children should require adult supervision, or should
be trusted alone has been discussed. For parents, the task of providing care and attention for their
children while juggling their other responsibilities as parents, has become complex and debate
whether it is appropriate to leave children on their own. Many tend to believe, that young children
should be supervised at all times, while others opine that children need their space. The reality is,
elementary–school–age children require a balance of adult supervision as needed depending on
scenarios, but as well as their time of independence when time permits based on the scenario and a
bond of trust. Adult supervision is possible, if not already, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Supervision of children should be a norm that parents and their adolescents should be accustomed
to. Not only does supervision offer a protective barrier to assure that children are safe, but as well
aid in establishing a bond of trust between adults and kids. Aside from establishing a bond, the
supervision of children has statistically proven that cases of kidnapping and sexual assault
committed against children have gone down due to the increase of administration over children. In
scenarios such these, where a child is left at a park on their own with no adult, such as Deborah
Harrell's case of leaving her nine year–old daughter alone at a park as she went to work, adult
supervision is required. If any harm was to occur to Harrell's daughter, such as an injury, kidnap
attempt, or even sexual assault, the lack of adult attention would have been the cause as to why a
tragedy could have occurred. Despite the fact that "..data indicates that child abuse reports tend to go
down over the summer.." (Belinda Luscombe), it does not suggest that child abuse cases do not
occur. Cooperation

Video Games: Pay-to-Play and Free-to-Play
P2P vs F2P; How Do They Affect Us?
What is a video game? Defined by Dictionary.com, "any of various gamers played using a
microcomputer with a keyboard and often joysticks to manipulate changes or respond to the actions
or questions on the screen." With this in mind, there are two major types of games: Pay–to–play and
free–to–play. Pay–to–play and free–to–play has been a long standing issue as players of each aspect
support and argue for it passionately. However, as human instinct dictates, people prefer free goods
and so free–to–play overall is a better genre compared to pay–to–play. Financial reasons are one of
the core factors in which players consider buying a game or paying nothing to receive a similar
quality of the paid–to–play games. These aspects also affect the judgment of customers who have
also begun moving towards free–to–play genres. Pay–to–play offers a higher quality of gameplay
compared to free–to–pay. Many users of this service receive better content, higher quality products,
and an overall better experience. This is true for Xbox online services, customers must pay monthly
for the internet connection which enables users to connect with others online. Generally speaking, it
is true that customers who pay for services usually do tend to receive higher satisfaction. However,
this tends to have its drawbacks as customers who want to "get into the game" must make a
commitment towards the paid–to–play game as many feel they have wasted their money and time

Central Tendency
What is central tendency? Explain three important measures of central tendency?
Measures of central tendency are scores that represent the center of the distribution. Three of the

Statement of Purpose This study will help us find out why there is an attendance problem and
narrow down what factors are directly interfering with the attendance of the absentees. We will also
find out what needs to be done to improve job satisfaction among the employees.
Research Questions
The following questions will be investigated and answered in this Case Study:
1. Is there a direct correlation between the stress level of the employees and job satisfaction?
2. Does job satisfaction, in turn, affect the over–all attendance of the employees?
3. What effect does the travel time of the employees have on stress levels?
4. What processes can ZXY Inc. implement to decrease their current turnover rate?
Variables
The variables that will be measured and the level of measurement are as follows:
Level of education and gender (male or female) will be measured at the nominal level. Position,
Income, and Interest will be measured at the ordinal level. The employee's commute in minutes will
be measured at the Interval level, leaving income, and stress and job satisfaction being measured at
the ratio level.

The Dual Writing Style In Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl
Nick and Amy moved from New York City, where both were laid off from their previous jobs as
writers, to Nick's hometown of North Carthage, Missouri to care for Nick's cancer stricken mother
and his father with alzheimer's. The two have a quite imperfect marriage that is at times profoundly
one–sided, but is disrupted when Amy goes missing. A search Amy quickly ensues, and as the
investigation progresses, the truth about Amy and Nick's not–so–wonderful marriage comes out for
all to see. In this journal I will be predicting the possibility of Nick's involvement in the case,
questioning why the detectives won't rule Nick out as a possible suspect, and evaluating the dual
perspective writing style in Gone Girl.

Along with the rotating viewpoints, the two stories being told, by Amy and Nick, happen at different
times through the collective story. I usually dislike this writing method, but in this plot, I think it
works well. I like that the two do not tell the same story from different perspectives but rather one
tells the story and the other follows with a background perspective that gives some insight as to the
reasoning behind the actions and motives of the characters in the present. In the case of this book,
Nick is narrating the investigation of Amy's disappearance as chapters of Amy's diary chronicle the
past relationship between the two counterparts. The two perspectives complement each other, but
neither spoil the storyline, as dual perspective books tend to do. For example, Amy often gives us
accounts from Nick and Amy's early relationship. Her discoveries from the dawn of their romance
shows how the opposite family structures of the two partners change how act in the present of their
relationship: "People say children from broken homes have it hard, but the children of charmed
marriages have their own particular challenges" (Flynn 27). The two narrators of the story give a
deep understanding of the motives and actions without giving too many details that might spoil the
future of the

My Strengths And Weaknesses
In the current generation, there is not much to differentiate between a male and a female when it
comes to the perspective of responsibility. The aspect of strength and weaknesses is something that
cannot be used to state whether an individual is a man or woman. Every individual has his or her set
of weaknesses and a set of things he considers his or her strength. Men and women the same, we all
struggle to maintain our lives and fight for the future. Life is somehow based on the rule of the
jungle where only the individuals with the ability and capability to do what it takes succeeds. The
moment that an individual's weaknesses overcome his strength and the society realizes the same that
is the moment an individual's world is turned around. His or her sense of fight is lost, and he
becomes a nobody in the society. However, the modern generation has realized that weaknesses are
only weaknesses if you allow them to be. I am at the age of thirty now, already graduated and very
ready to pursue my life dreams. In fact, I have started that journey. In the journey, however, I the
role that my strengths play in achieving my dreams and the weaknesses that I have that tends to
draw me back in life. In this document, I will be discussing myself stressing so much on my
strengths and highlighting my weaknesses. I know and understand perfectly well that my destiny is

Fashion Imagery Research Paper
We have expressions which refer to the idea that we may experience time as subjectively happening
at different speeds. For example, "A watched pot never boils." But, we generally take the view that,
objectively, an hour is an hour is an hour and all things move forward at the same pace.
Yet, in fiction, time passing at different rates is a relatively common concept. Perhaps this intrigues
us because of real world experiences which fit that concept in some sense.
When you look at signs and symbols, a common phenomenon is that imagery initially comes from
real world items in a relatively literal manner but, over time, the symbols are kept even though
technology moves on and the thing it refers to is no longer in use. Here are a couple of ... Show

What Are Agreeable People
According to Robbins and Judge (2013) agreeableness refers to individual's propensity to defer
others. Highly agreeable people are cooperative, warm and trusting and enormously likeable. Top
performers refers to individuals who are highly productive and person who always worked on
developing their work skills and job performance (Harpham, n.d.). Top performers are usually very
decisive and determined in every single task they do, and most of them are aspire to be leaders by
working hard and focusing on their life goals.
In our opinion, employer should choose agreeable employees over top performers because most of
agreeable individuals are easily adapt to new environment and company's workforce policy. These
kind of employees are ready to work in any industries or position even they know they will earn

Agreeableness reflects individual differences in concern with cooperation and social harmony.
Agreeable people are likely to get along with people effortlessly. These people are certainly to help
others at work despite any moods and rewards (Ilies, Scott & Judge, 2006). They are extremely
considerate, friendly, generous, helpful, and willing to compromise their interests with others. Thus,
they will create a warm environment in the company and there is no doubt that their colleagues
would feel comfortable than ever.
Agreeable people also have an optimistic view of human nature and always look things in a bright

increase the time for the commute. Minutes Per Day Spent on Commuting EMBED Excel.Sheet.12
Part II Using the data you have collected in above, please do the following: Calculate the mean,
median, and mode. The mean is the number many people refer to as the arithmetic average. It is the
sum of the results divided by the total number of data points collected. The mean is:
(23+23+27+22+19+30+32+23+24+47)/10 = 27 The median is the number in the middle of a
distribution, once that distribution has been placed in ascending or descending order. In ascending
order, the results are: 19, 22, 23, 23, 23, 24, 27, 30, 32, 47. Because 10 is an even number, the
median is the mean of the two middle numbers. The two middle numbers are 23 and 24. Therefore,
the median is 23.5. The mode is the number occurring most frequently in the distribution. The
results are: 19, 22, 23, 23, 23, 24, 27, 30, 32, 47. Therefore, the mode is 23. Are these numbers

Why Is Running On A Treadmill Speech
Good morning / afternoon
My speech will be done on ' Is running on a treadmill more effective then running on the road"
Running in general is a full body exercise, no matter if it's on a treadmill or just running on open
road. It has been debated since treadmills came out if they are better than road running. I do believe
that running on a treadmill is not the same as running on the road. Yes they are both forms of
exercises but I do believe one is more effective than the other. So I'm going to give you a full brief
on why I think so.
Treadmills are a training machine, normally found at the gym or in one's home. They have many
parts that make it operate. There is something called the belt, which is the moving surface you see
and feel when standing on a treadmill. This belt gives assistance to the runners leg turnover , there is
also no wind resistance for the runners body to encounter, just these two things alone can ... Show

Its unpredictable. You can't be running outside when its hailing or there's lightening that would be
unsafe and unwise to attempt. There's also environmental challenges like stopping at a robot to cross
over this can affect your running time and pace, whereas on a treadmill you do not find these
complications , you can run on your treadmill even when its pouring outside, the weather should
have no effect on your running. You also won't find environmental challenges that will cause you to
stop unless it's for your own safety or it's a machine problem. Safety is one of the biggest problems
runners face today with road running. You got to constantly be on the lookout , you can have
anything distracting you like music through headphones where that could not allow you to hear
what's going on around you. Treadmill running is safe apart from some people having heart attacks
or slipping off they have been built with a huge red button that allows you to stop the machine from
moving straight

Sampling and Measures of Central Tendency and Dispersion
Sampling and Measures of Central Tendency and Dispersion
Introduction: Overall Job Satisfaction (OJS) was the variable selected for this exercise because it
lends itself to measures of central tendency and dispersion. The data are quantitative and continuous
in nature.
Data Selected: The instructions for the exercise suggested a sample of approximately 30 individuals
from one of eight variables. There were 288 measures of OJS. Every ninth individual was selected
resulting in thirty–two (32) unique scores. The data was sorted by gender (17 males, 15 females) as
shown in the following table:
GENDER AGE DEPT POSITION TENURE OVERALL INTRINSIC EXTRINSIC
1 2 3 2 1 1.6 2.67 4
1 3 3 1 3 1.8 5.33 5.5
1 2 3 1 1 3.4 5.33 2
1 3 3 2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the results were normally distributed and the satisfied employee scores mirrored the dissatisfied
employee scores, the mean would be 3.5. This is further supported by the fact that the median score
is greater than the mean. This suggests that some extreme scores on the "dissatisfied" side are
lowering the mean (4.56) when compared with the median (4.6). Males are slightly more satisfied
than females (4.8, 4.2).

Rhetorical Analysis : Us And Them
Rhetorical Analysis: Us and Them
David Sedaris ' claim in his essay Us and Them is inferred from its content to be that those who are
privileged tend to mistreat the less fortunate. They also judge the lifestyles of others whom they may
demarcate as different while ignoring their own faults and imperfections while at the same time
refusing to accept other people 's cultures and ways of life into our own or deeming others inferior.
The fundamental message that the author is trying to convey through this anecdote is ultimately
"tolerance." The author published this collection of essays in 2004, when he was approximately at
the developed age of 47 years old. The essay can be seen as a nostalgic reflection back to his past, to
one of the many worthwhile, valuable, and subtle lessons taught to him by his mother. The author
perhaps wrote this specific essay to act as a catalyst for the audience to realize the larger injustices
that happen to people around the world like the level of severity in poverty that exists in both
undeveloped countries around the world and the ignored corners of our own backyards as a result of
the greed and imperialism of capitalist nations and their consumerist ideals. The publishing of this
book roughly coincides with the opening of hostilities when the United States invaded Iraq in 2003.
David Sedaris ' purpose in writing this essay is to force his audience to in turn look at and analyze
themselves just as he did in his own narrative, and recognize

Marketers use scales to measure the assignment of numbers to objects or persons to represent
quantities to their attributes (Aaker, 2007). This includes the measurement of agreements or
disagreements that relates to attitudes or objects. For example, the measurement is in two parts, the
item part, and the evaluative part. It is important to understand the level of characteristics of scales
such as nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio because scales differ with respect to the scaling
characteristics. Nominal scales label the objects. Ordinal scales rank the order and size difference of
the respondents or their responses. Interval scales represent the equal distance between the
descriptor. Finally, the ratio scales ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then if the individual were a female, she would answer the gender question with number one, which
corresponds to female. When questionnaires are completed the numerical scales are the number and
percentage of objects, such as 53 females (51.5 %) and 50 males (48.5%) (McDaniel, 2006).
Ordinal
Ordinal scales use labeling characteristics similar to nominal scales but in this case, it uses the
numbers for the ability to order the data. This scale is a higher level of measurement and is used
mostly to show the rank order of the items to be reviewed. The operations determine which is
greater or lesser than another in the same list. For example, if there were a questionnaire about a
person's preference of restaurants, the questionnaire would give the respondent a few choices to
review. If the example has five choices, the respondent would choose one to five with the number
five as most desired. Then the individual will rank the most desired restaurant by placing the number
five next to the name of the restaurant he or she prefers the most. This helps the questionnaire
determine which restaurant is preferred greater than others. Then the measure of central tendency is
the median, and the percentile would be used for measuring dispersion (McDaniel, 2006).
Interval
Interval scales have characteristics of nominal and ordinal scales but also have equal intervals
between the points on the scale (McDaniel, 2006). This type of scale is the preferred measure of

Why There Is Need to Study Ihrm and Cross Culture Management?
INTRODUCTION Why there is need to study IHRM and cross culture management? For our
purposes let's define culture as the way in which each of us is programmed to behave in the
environment. Cultures are like icebergs; some features are apparent to anyone not in a fog, while
others are deeply hidden. Above–the–surface features include overt behaviors: how people dress eat
walk talk relate to one another conduct themselves during public ceremonies such as weddings or
funerals. Also included are such things as social distance. Other aspects are so far below the surface
that they are hard to recognize. We may see evidence of these aspects, but we usually can't pinpoint
them precisely and usually don't have a clue where they came from. They ... Show more content on

In France and Greece, for example, engineers tend to emphasize theoretical or mathematical
approaches over experimental or numerical ones. Other countries, such as Canada and the United
States, tend to favor experimental or numerical approaches. Although there is no absolute "right
way" to approach technical problems, issues are likely to arise when engineers with different
inclinations work together to solve them. On a practical basis, the approaches used by engineers in
different countries can also depend on the types of resources available. For example, high labour
costs and the availability of skilled workers make process automation and the use of heavy
equipment valuable in developed countries, while using large numbers of unskilled workers may be
a preferred approach in some developing. Cross–cultural Differences & Telecommunication Cross–
cultural issues also arise at the organizational level; because company's indifferent countries
organize their daily business differently. Some of the most noticeable differences include relative
hierarchy of departments. The relative power of the various departments within a corporation is
often a function of the country where the corporation has its headquarters. For example, the
manufacturing departments of merman–based companies have influence over their marketing and
sales counterpart's hat many Canadian and American manufacturing departments can only dream of.

The Negative Effects Of Social Media
With the rapid rise in technology, it brings about a new growth in the current culture. Technology,
like cell phones and computers, brings on a newer form of communication that can be both private
and public. Before the rise in technology most of our communication was face to face. Social
platforms (like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and etc.) were not commonly used as they
are today. These social platforms became more relevant because they allow many to interact with
each other on an instant level. It is easy with these platforms to keep a brief conversation with short
messages; for example, with Twitter each tweet is 140 characters. Often, the person behind the
messages have "followers" (they, who in a sense, are subscribed to a person) that they can leave an
impression onto. Some people use their platforms for positivity while some use their platform for
criticism. However, most followers can choose what message they want to hear and choose how
they listen to it. Social media can provide a variety of options to a variety of people. Most messages
that social media tends to promote are a certain lifestyle that is considered to be a norm. With the
majority of people not living in the social media "norm" this can generate negative effects on mental
health. The negative effects of social media can lead to self–dissatisfaction and cause destructive
tendencies. Social media tends to promote one type of body image in the media for females which is
thin. Famous models,

Measurement in Analysis can take on many forms, but in this case, these come in the form of
questionnaires. A questionnaire when not done correctly may not be able to obtain the information in
which the corporation may be seeking. There are in general four categories that these fall into.
Categorically, these include Nominal, Ordinal, Interval and Ratio Numbers. The essential goal of
this author is to explain to the utmost of authority of how these fit into questionnaires.
Attitude can play a part in the variables that make up these types of scales: from Nominal to Ratio.

The question is simply whether each object has more or less of this variable. When scaled, there will
be no information as to how much difference between objects (Aakar, Kumar and Day, 2007). Due
to lack of difference between objects, the basic arithmetic operations are limited to statistics such as
the median or mode (this does not include the mean) (Aakar, Kudler and Day, 2007). One example
would be to obtain the information sample of 1,000 surveyed consumers who ranked five brands of
auto manufacturer preferred based on quality assumption. The questionnaire may look similar as
ranked from Highest to Lowest with Second, Third, and Fourth all between (Aakar, Kudler and Day,
2007). Where the Second quality will be categorized as the 'mode', the Third category is the 'median'
. There will no means of categorizing a general 'mean' because the differences in between ordinal
scaled values are not necessarily the same (Aakar, Kudler and Day, 2007). Another example of this
type of scale could be found in racing: dog, horse or car, that is they are found in a class standing
(Aakar, Kudler and Day, 2007).
Interval–
The Interval scale represents the numbers used to rank objects which also represent equal
increments of the attribute being measured. In more discrete terms, it simply means differences can
be compared. The difference between 1 and 2 is the same as that found between 2 and 3,

students in this sample are taking and the shoe sizes of the females in the class. Then using
StatCrunch compute the actual standard deviation. Compare the results.
a) Does the range rule of thumb overestimate or underestimate the standard deviation for number of
credit hours?
–The range rule of thumb over estimates the standard deviation for credit hours. The estimates
deviation is 3.75 while the actual is 2.56
b) Does the range rule of thumb overestimate or underestimate the standard deviation for shoe sizes
of females?
–The range rule of thumb overestimates again this time only by a little, with the estimate at 1.75 and
the actual at 1.29.
c) How does the shape of the distribution impact what you conclude?
–The shape of both data sets fall within the rule of thumb estimate and that actual standard
deviation. There is a much high range for both and that is because there are several data samples that
fall outside of the standard deviation.

The Scales Of Measurement, Ordinal Scale, Interval And Ratio
In this write up, the different scales of measurement, nominal scale, ordinal scale, interval and ratio
are discussed, including examples of test types that would usually employ them. Also, measures of
central tendency, and measures of variability and their effect on test suitability are addressed in the
second half of this piece. The Four Scales of Measurement Scales of measurement defines a
framework wherein numbers are assigned to objects based on a set of rules (Thorndike &
Thorndike–Christ, 2009). These authors presented four different types of scales of measurement as
ordinal, nominal, ratio and interval. Nominal Scale Thorndike Thorndike–Christ (2009) described a
nominal scale as a measurement type wherein each "number takes on the meaning of a verbal label"
(p. 27). For example, in an assessment of students on a campus, girls could be labeled number 1, and
the girls, number 2. In this case, the values are mutually exclusive, and the labels have no numerical
significance. Assessment that would use a nominal scale could be practically any measure that
affixes labels to constructs for assessments. For example, the Interprofessional Competency Model
for Healthcare Leadership is an assessment model that measures constructs developed into
competency models, such as analytical thinking, community orientation, financial skills, and
initiative (Calhoun, Dollett, Sinioris, Wainio, Butler, Griffith, & Warden, 2008). Ordinal Scale Next,
an ordinal scale describes "the order

1. My learning styles are kinesthetic and visual. When I learn to do something, I always skip the
instruction, tending to jump right in and try it. In terms of Mutual Intelligence, I scored 3.57 in
Nature, 3.43 in Self, and 3.14 Musical. The MI score nearly mirrors who I am, except the language
and kinesthetic scores. It's true that I'm not good at math and logical problems, but I do enjoy new
languages. I'm bilingual now and I want to be a trilingual in the future. Therefore, I believe that my
score in linguistic and kinesthetic should be higher. There are some statements in the Assessment
results which I find accurate about me. For instance, "Take photographs of what you find on your
hike", "You like working on projects on your own", and "You enjoy humming or singing along with
music." My Keirsey Score is INFP which means my learning score is NF. I'm not the type of person
who logically plans to do everything. I prefer to be led by feelings. It's also true that I'm an introvert
when I'm around people who I don't feel comfortable with. Actually, I change into another person
when I'm with my family and friends. It's interesting that my boyfriend shares totally different traits
in his Keirsey Score; he's an ISTJ. While I focus on creativity and don't follow the plan, he tends to
plan everything in advance. Sometimes, the differences in our personalities create arguments.
However, I believe those differences have more

Every individual whether they are aware of it or not, base their decision–making on some form of

In the case of the real estate data, the variables are the price, size, and the number of bedrooms in a
residence. These variables have physical measurements that can be easily verified.
Measurement Scale for Each Variable Accordingly, to test the hypothesis, the variables that will be
analyzed will be the selling price of the house, the square–footage size of the house, and the number
of bedrooms of the house. These are the intervals encompassed in Team A's hypothesis. However,
Team A will also measure other variables connected to outcomes not stated in the hypothesis, such
location (for instance distance and time from house to center of town) and desirable amenities. To
test the above–mentioned variables Team A will need to select specific measurement scales for
them. The four types of measurement scales are nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. The depth of
sophistication increases as one moves from the nominal scale to the ratio scale. In other words, the
ratio and the interval scales offer more detailed information on variables than do the ordinal and the
nominal scales. That is to say, as one moves from the nominal scale to the ratio scale, one moves
from the general to the more specific, and the more specific information a scale yields, the more
powerful it is. The more powerful scales, provide the possibility of performing in–depth, meaningful

After entering the data, it must be reviewed to catch any errors. Cleaning the data is done with basic
steps. Of course the data is imported from the source, but there should always be some backup
involved in order to keep the integrity of the data. In some cases the next step would be
manipulation or spellchecking. This depends on what kind of data is involved. However, in this case
spell checking is not necessary, but manipulation is. For instance with manipulation, they may have
to add a column or two, or even add a zero randomly for missing data. Below is numbers 6–10 on

The Effects Of Consumerism
"Consumerism comes from the verb consume, which is rooted in the Latin word consumere,
meaning to use up or to waste. The noun consumerism also refers to a movement that promotes the
interests of consumers – that is, people who purchase goods, use them, and then buy more –
especially the protection of these consumers from things like fraud or price gouging"
("Consumerism"). Consumerism has changed over the thousands of years that people have been
living. Some people believe that consumerism is great where it helps stimulate the economy, but
other people see it as an evil force because it hurts people and makes them care less about their self
and the world around them. I can agree with the people that says it is good for the economy;

interview that I have read from NBC Learn, she had mentioned that she had seen that people did not

concerned on about our own lives– what we're wearing and our work and our families– we don't

and I say that I would have to agree with Alex one hundred percent. From previous experiences, I
have seen people wear the same thing multiple days in a row, but my colleges have not noticed and
tend to believe that they are wearing something new everyday. This is not the mentality people need

Feudalism In Siegfried
IT'S INTERESTING to see how history is distorted in the act of grasping it: how it bends to fit the
mind of the person who takes it in. You can investigate a historical epoch and watch as others,
arriving at disparate conclusions, paint a portrait with a selection of colors chosen to fulfill their
needs. A man is bound to feel that in the careless approach of others, he himself stands accused: is
he not guilty of the same crime, of distorting history to his own ends, lacking merely the person with
sufficient subtlety to call him to account?
Joachim Fest said that the political maturity of the German people came only after the loss of their
inner, spiritually romantic "interior"– the relic of feudalism that had not yet given way. This world
of glorious Heroes and Grand Gestures which Wagner seeked to portray in music, and which Hitler
forged a connection to largely through Wagner's operas, apparently watching Siegfried 30 or more
times. Ah, Heroic artwork.
One of the main differences between the lingering feudalistic mindset of Germany and the
individualist mindset which was rising in the West, was the relationship to authority. In the West, it
was gradually being understood that self–interest could be reliably deferred to when dealing with
one's superiors– and even the concept of a superior, of someone placed above oneself in the natural
order, was becoming incomprehensible. In Germany, respect for authority still had it's

The Social Media Platform Of Tumblr
Albert Costill, writer for Search Engine Journal, reports that 66% of Tumblr users are under 35 years
old, while 39% are under the age of 25. Costill also noted that 13% of 18–to–29 year olds have used
the social media platform (Costill). These statistics prove how common and thus influential Tumblr
is amongst young adults. Tumblr is a social media website and application that allows users to make
their own personal blog with posts consisting of text, pictures, and videos. One of the main reasons
that Tumblr is so prominent amongst young people is because of the sense of anonymity that the

By setting the tone for what is popular, young people's actions are directly influenced by what they
see on Tumblr. Since whatever people on this form of social media do is instantly seen as
acceptable, young adults tend to try and conform to these trends. Typically the trends seen on
Tumblr all have a rebellious and unruly connotation, thus mostly having a negative impact on
society. Things such as drugs, alcohol, sex, and nudity are all heavily promoted on Tumblr. In
addition to these, mental illness is largely advocated for on Tumblr. Mental illnesses tend to be
glamorized online causing those who have these conditions to oftentimes become even worse. While
Tumblr is a great way to meet people who are similar to you, it can also be detrimental in the fact
that people can bond over topics such as mental illness. Surely there are many blogs offering help to
those who are suffering with these types of conditions, but the ones that gain the most attention are
the blogs that make these types of problems worse. Caitlin Dewey, reporter for The Washington

Sport Specialization In Sport
Sport Specialization At a young age, children tend to start participating in sports as a way to get
active and learn both athletic as well as life skills. Their parents might start them off with one sport
and then before you know it the child is juggling a handful of sports to see, which ones they like. As
these young athletes get older, they tend to get stuck at a crossroad. The athletes are posed with the
same decision: to specialize in one sport or to continue playing all the sports they love. However, do
athletes that specialize in one sport perform better as they grow up compared to those that continue
playing multiple sports? It is important to resolve this question because there has been a rise in early
youth sport specialization over the last few years due to pressure put on athletes by their coaches
and parents, rather than a logical rationale (Myer 2015).
Often, as young athletes reach middle school and high school levels, coaches and parents tend to see
the potential these athletes have. As a result, the athletes are persuaded and or forced into quitting
certain sports to specialize in their dominant sport with hopes of achieving more success. However,
these children miss out in experiences they might have had if they didn't quit those sports. If they
choose not to quit, they are usually treated differently by their coaches. Coaches will talk to them in
a hasty manner compared to other kids or even discipline them harder, solely because the athlete
didn't do

often achieved through employment at fast–food chains, markets, restaurants, and shops. As a result
of the amount of time consumed by these occupations, much of a teenager's life tends to focus on
the people and events that are central to these places of employment. Sammy, the main character in
John Updike's story "A&amp;P," is a superb representation of the teen employee. <p>
Updike places his character in a typical setting and allows the readers to view the events of the story
from the perspective of a teen. By doing this, he makes it simple for readers to relate with Sammy
and his experiences. In reflection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After working for approximately three years in a bicycle shop where this characteristic can be easily
observed, I have found that customers will continue on their decided path of examining merchandise
and comparing prices, without regard for any added stimuli. During the busier seasons, it seems
especially true that one could, as stated by Sammy, "set off dynamite . . . and the people would by
and large keep reaching and checking" (Updike 371). This characteristic alienates the employee
from customers: in most cases, they are held to the belief that finding the lowest priced, lowest
quality item is necessary; they expect the employee to understandingly ring up six pairs of
checkered spandex cycling shorts that have been laying harmlessly dormant in the "bargain bin"
since the 1980's. Sammy identifies this idea also by stating, "what do these bums do with all that
pineapple juice?" (Updike 371).<p>
The effort some customers place into catching an employee's mistake could easily establish
customers as the most abhorrent aspect of a teen's job experience in its self. The number of
customers that possess this fine quality seems to be related to a function that increases with respect
to age; it appears that

Reflective Essay About My Family
Throughout my high school years, I tend to be a very hard worker. When given an assignment or
project, I do not like to procrastinate and wait till the night before it is due to work on it. I like to be
organized with my schedule and plan to work on assignments a few days before they're due so I can
double and triple check the work and turn it in with little to no errors. Sometimes I can be forgetful
because I am human so I am forced to work on some assignments the night before, but I make sure
the assignments I am given are completed. I am also known to be very picky on my likes and don't
likes so it's harder for me to make decisions by myself compared to when I am around my peers.
Needless to say, my family and friends are considered to be a big part of my life since I tend to be
around them the most. Typically, when it comes to family, it can be a complete toss up on the type of
family you have. Whether they are supportive and have your back or more self absorbed and afraid
to show love and compassion, their family at the end of the day. My family is the most supportive
factor in my life since they choose to be apart of it. They want to see me succeed and go on to do
amazing things like most parents do. Knowing I have them to pick me up if I were to ever fall down
helps me get through day by day. They help me to succeed and shaped me into the person I am
today. My friends and family helped me to open my eyes and realize that not everything in life won't
be layed out

Statistics Assessment : Social Research Skills
Statistics Assessment
Social Research Skills 1
1. The following questions are about measurement
a) List the different levels a variable may take and describe the properties of the levels.
The levels of measurements that variables can take are: (1) scale or continuous; (2) ordinal; (3)
nominal; (4) interval; (5) Dichotomous; (6) Ratio.
1) Scale or continuous: measurements with units that are on an independent scale example include
height and age.
2) Ordinal: This is not measure on an independent scale with units like scale and continuous dater.
Instead it comes in the form of ranks but a rank is only significant in relative to the other data in the
set.
3) Nominal: nominal data also known as categorical data relate to information ... Show more content

Statistical analyses are affected by Variables' levels of measurement because the level of
measurement can help you decide what statistical analysis is necessary with the values you have.
The level of measurement is detrimental for this. Higher levels of measurement of a variable allows
for more powerful statistical techniques can be applied to help analyse it. Furthermore, variable
levels of measurement can also allow you to decide how you will interpret the data from the
variable. An example of this is nominal data, where the frequency which each value of a variable
takes place can be calculated. If you were to have a pole where people tell you their country of
residence from the following options: England, Northern Island, Scotland, Wales etc., (these are all
nominal variables) you can calculate the number of people who responded to each option this can
allow you to create a percentage out of the total sample for each option. Though, some operation
may not be able to be carried out as the data is nominal. This shows that variables ' levels of
measurement can have major impact on the statistical analysis that you can

Lord Of The Flies Piggy Character Analysis
Piggy is one of the main characters in Lord of the Flies. He is a timid, lazy boy, mainly recognized
by his asthma, glasses and fat body. I will look at the way Golding uses Piggy to explore different
concepts, including civilization, isolation and social order.
Piggy is probably the most civilized character in the book; even as the others begin to lose their
morality, he sustains a sense of community and basic ethic. In the first chapter, he suggests using the
conch to call other victims of the plane crash. This was a crucial part of the boys coming together
and finding each other on the island and maintains basis for the actual plot of the book. Also, Piggy
repeatedly compares the boys to children, for example, "like a pack of kids". This simile highlights
the effect of irony because they are, of course, kids, but it shows that Piggy does not regard himself
as a child. He believes that the other boys act immature and has decidedly set himself apart from
their behaviour. As well as this, Piggy is always found holding the conch; "he caressed the conch
respectfully". He relies on it to uphold a community–wide sense of civilization, and comfort himself
in the way that he can revert back to the rules on holding the conch while speaking when he is being
interrupted. For instance, on page 42, Piggy says, "I got the conch. You let me speak!". This is very
important because it demonstrates the symbolism of the conch as an object of society, and how
much he considers its moral and societal value.
As well as this, Piggy is a pariah in the book. The boys dislike him a lot and hold very little respect
for him – this is said quite bluntly in Chapter 5, "Piggy was an outsider". Despite his intelligence
often being of use to them, they tend to disregard his contributions to the group. One example of this
is when Ralph "pushed Piggy on one side" when he was trying to speak. This can be seen as both a
literal and metaphorical representation of how Piggy is treated. What is meant by the quote is that
Ralph physically pushed him aside, however it can be interpreted that Ralph and the boys not only
shove Piggy around physically, but they also bully him verbally and overlook his advice and
opinions. He has a tremendous lack of

The Role Of Refugees In Inside Out And Back Again

  • 1. The Role Of Refugees In Inside Out And Back Again The universal refugee experience of fleeing and finding home relates to the title Inside Out and Back Again in the way it shows how refugees tend to feel when fleeing and finding new homes, as well as how it is shown in Há's story. Há, for example, was very stubborn and jealous of her brothers. She was competitive, independent, and strong willed. When she comes to her new home, she eventually becomes more agreeable, more decisive, and more emotional altogether. This shows us how she changes, how she turns inside out, and how she turns back again. Refugees all around the world experience similar things, including this change in personality. Há and her family had changed completely when they were forced from their home, which happens to almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it may take time, things will eventually stop being backwards. Refugees begin to go back to a normal life, although it is not exactly how it was previously. Their lives tend to change back as they get more comfortable. The adjustments to their new home make them feel like they belong once they can understand the language, the culture, and the people. They will no longer be lost in the dark unable to figure out what is going on. "Here, I don't have that problem anymore" (Brice 2). "Our lives will twist and twist, intermingling the old and the new until it doesn't matter which is which" (Lai 257). Their old lives eventually won't matter anymore. My Perceptions Of The Environment And The Amount Of Control Based on my responses to my perceptions of the environment and the amount of control I feel I have, the VISA evaluation validated my perception about my leadership proficiencies. This evaluation indicated a "Dominance" personality as a leader. According to my VISA profile there is a strong emphasis on Vision and Action which echoes the dimensions that form my leadership style. Interdependence and Structure have been indicated to be the less developed areas in my evaluation profile. This also confirms my perceptions as I find rigorous adherence to policies and procedures sometimes stifling progress and my dominant preference of action approach resonance with my desire to be goal oriented, action driven to achieve results and freedom to make quick decisions. Having Vision couple with Action reaffirms my personality in a sense that I am future–orientated, love creativity and innovative thinking, and tends to seek unique accomplishments and innovative solutions. I enjoy tackling varies activities and embrace a wide range of tasks. I am also high in conscientiousness and tend to use a systematic approach on problem solving. When working with others, I have a tendency to be diplomatic and use an indirect approach to avoid conflict. This illustrative VISA profile is therefore well–aligned with my character and leadership assessment. During the training session, it was very apparent when the trainer answered a question in an irrelevant manner and although she spoke in an upbeat manner, her responses could sometimes sound impersonal and ambiguous. Since she spoke in the same friendly tone throughout, it was very hard to read her actual feelings during it. I found that when I needed to ask a question, I would wait and see if someone else had the same question first and depending on how she was answering things, I typically did not bother. Within my legitimate power, I often administer rewards and incentives and have noticed how respect and admiration for a coworker, employee, or supervisor influences my responses and actions with them. • 7. Speech Distracting Essay In the informative speech, I didn't many things that were admired and distracting during the speech, and I hope to improve on those distracting interrupting acts on my next speech. During the speech, I did some items that were a little distracting through the speech. As I watched my speech I noticed I had some awkward pauses, bad transitions, some um's, and a little stuttering throughout the speech. If you look at the speech I tend to stutter which is a little distracting. Talking about the festival Diwali I talk about Rangoli and its colored pattern I stutter and forget what I am explaining. Another thing I could improve on is my transitions when hearing the speech, the transitions are a little rough and not as smooth. During the transition when I switch from talking about the celebrations to the language I say, "with all these celebrations it tends to bring many religions and languages together" doesn't really make sense and could be spoken a little smoother. Stuttering is also a part of the speech I did during the speech which distracting. Throughout the speech, I stutter during different parts and one of those parts being when I am talking about the different traditions when eating Indian food. I say, "some of the traditions when people eat in India are well we all we eat on our hands," which is a little annoying. During the speech, I also said um's during the speech. When citing my source on languages I said some ums, repeating the citation from the notecard. During the speech I had a little tough time with stuttering at moments, saying some um's, bad transitions, and some pauses in the future I tend to improve it for the next speech. During the speech, I was also a good speaker in many ways. I had a good voice projection, my hand moment was consistent, I was always facing the audience and held eye contact, and had facial expressions to emphasize the importance of a topic. Right off the bat when I was explaining my citation saying According to the U.S Census Bureau "there are alone 5.7% Asian's in the United States," I was pointing my hands to make sure everyone was paying attention to the numbers. Another thing I did well during the speech was, that I kept eye contact with everyone during the speech ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is realism, lyricism and romanticism in her work, all melded in a most individual manner of perception and poetry–making, and I would try to analyze the diversity of the vision angles of her work. 1. "I was crazy about fairy tales––Andersen, Grimm and so on.{20}"Bishop answered when she was asked about the book she read as a child. The reason for the fancy might be that it was the heyday of surrealism or the necessity of expression, but I would like to appreciate the it as the special way to memorize and reflection on her sense of childhood and present life. Fairy tale provide the perspective of an innocent child who just paints and show her work proudly to her grandmother. But the fancy of the almanac, stove and tears is the implication of the unavoidable and everlasting suffering of one's life. Bishop maybe tend to tell the little Bishop that "it's time to plant tears, it's time to nourish your pursuit with setbacks of life, just appreciate it!" Besides, it's also the childlike innocence in her inner world that encourage herself to face the hardship and depression with hope (but still a mixture of gloomy and brilliance). • 11. Workplace Reflection Essay There are racial things happening all around us every day but many times people can block it out or don't notice it because it seems normal. This week I decided to watch and see what racial or gender type things happen at my place of work. I work at a restaurant in downtown Green Bay, it a bit more expensive than most places. I'm going to cover the way customers are served and how they are treated and how things are a little more advanced in the kitchen staff. First of all, I am a host at the restaurant so I watch closely to make sure all tables are getting service, when a table is first sat the table is greeted by the server in a happy tone Usually if the customers reply back in a happy way and friendly way that table will get more attention from the server throughout their time at the restaurant. When the customer tends to treat the server more as a servant and not as a real person the servers tend to not check up on the table as much because the table doesn't seem friendly. Another thing I noticed is that when a table sits and they are dressed nicely and servers my pay more attention to them compared to a table that is in sweatpants. Servers pay more attention to the tables that are dressed nicely because they expect them to tip better, I have seen this first hand with two tables sat at about the same time and the family dressed nicer tip decently and the table in sweats tipped 74 cents on a $35 bill. Now I know that I don't know the financial backgrounds of these two families but this is a more expensive restaurant so customers tend to spend more than going to a Red Robins. Another factor in how you are served at a restaurant is younger couples and elderly couples are less likely to tip well. Younger couples tend to be seen as not having significant funds to pay and tip well. Elderly couples are seen as small tippers because they are used to saving and a lower tipping percentage. For a long time the tipping percentage was 15% percent but over the last few years, it has been raised to about 18% to 20%. Next, I want to talk about how usually when you think of a restaurants kitchen staff you may think low–income men maybe even Mexican. • 13. Examples Of Classification Of Business Students Classification of Business Students As members of a team studying at State Colleges, students are individuals. As a team, however, they are a collage of different individuals working together to achieve a common goal. The goal, in this case, is a business management degree. No matter how common their goal is as a team, students, as individuals, have a unique path to achieving it. Some team members have an interactive style. In other words, they have the tendency to be fast– paced, and spontaneous. This is fine and works well with a couple of the dominant styles in the group as they see eye to eye on the speed of completing tasks. On the other hand, there is a cautious style with the team that has a slower paced approach to tasks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taking a stress management course and learning simple breathing exercises to deal with pressure will be best for an impresser. Another style is the predominantly behavioral cautious style, which is also known as the master minder. The master minder is said to be more guarded and less indirect than most other cautious styles. The primary goal motivating this type of behavior is to increase opportunities for unique and significant personal accomplishments. This type of person express themselves more by what he or she does than what he or she says. Consequently, this person has strong needs to choose their own goals and to work independently. They incline to be primary idea generators and developers, and they have little interest in dealing with implementation details. Some of their tendencies are being focused and self–controlled with people and also being focused on the future, especially in concerning ideas and opportunities. Sometimes they have a tendency to over–analyze and possibly procrastinate when they're under pressure. For parents, the task of providing care and attention for their children while juggling their other responsibilities as parents, has become complex and debate whether it is appropriate to leave children on their own. Many tend to believe, that young children should be supervised at all times, while others opine that children need their space. Not only does supervision offer a protective barrier to assure that children are safe, but as well aid in establishing a bond of trust between adults and kids. Aside from establishing a bond, the supervision of children has statistically proven that cases of kidnapping and sexual assault committed against children have gone down due to the increase of administration over children. In scenarios such these, where a child is left at a park on their own with no adult, such as Deborah Harrell's case of leaving her nine year–old daughter alone at a park as she went to work, adult supervision is required. If any harm was to occur to Harrell's daughter, such as an injury, kidnap attempt, or even sexual assault, the lack of adult attention would have been the cause as to why a tragedy could have occurred. • 17. Video Games: Pay-to-Play and Free-to-Play P2P vs F2P; How Do They Affect Us? What is a video game? Defined by Dictionary.com, "any of various gamers played using a microcomputer with a keyboard and often joysticks to manipulate changes or respond to the actions or questions on the screen." With this in mind, there are two major types of games: Pay–to–play and free–to–play. Pay–to–play and free–to–play has been a long standing issue as players of each aspect support and argue for it passionately. However, as human instinct dictates, people prefer free goods and so free–to–play overall is a better genre compared to pay–to–play. Financial reasons are one of the core factors in which players consider buying a game or paying nothing to receive a similar quality of the paid–to–play games. These aspects also affect the judgment of customers who have also begun moving towards free–to–play genres. Pay–to–play offers a higher quality of gameplay compared to free–to–pay. Many users of this service receive better content, higher quality products, and an overall better experience. This is true for Xbox online services, customers must pay monthly for the internet connection which enables users to connect with others online. Generally speaking, it is true that customers who pay for services usually do tend to receive higher satisfaction. However, this tends to have its drawbacks as customers who want to "get into the game" must make a commitment towards the paid–to–play game as many feel they have wasted their money and time for ... Along with the rotating viewpoints, the two stories being told, by Amy and Nick, happen at different times through the collective story. I usually dislike this writing method, but in this plot, I think it works well. I like that the two do not tell the same story from different perspectives but rather one tells the story and the other follows with a background perspective that gives some insight as to the reasoning behind the actions and motives of the characters in the present. In the case of this book, Nick is narrating the investigation of Amy's disappearance as chapters of Amy's diary chronicle the past relationship between the two counterparts. The two perspectives complement each other, but neither spoil the storyline, as dual perspective books tend to do. For example, Amy often gives us accounts from Nick and Amy's early relationship. Her discoveries from the dawn of their romance shows how the opposite family structures of the two partners change how act in the present of their relationship: "People say children from broken homes have it hard, but the children of charmed marriages have their own particular challenges" (Flynn 27). But, we generally take the view that, objectively, an hour is an hour is an hour and all things move forward at the same pace. Yet, in fiction, time passing at different rates is a relatively common concept. Perhaps this intrigues us because of real world experiences which fit that concept in some sense. The mean is the number many people refer to as the arithmetic average. It is the sum of the results divided by the total number of data points collected. The mean is: (23+23+27+22+19+30+32+23+24+47)/10 = 27 The median is the number in the middle of a distribution, once that distribution has been placed in ascending or descending order. In ascending order, the results are: 19, 22, 23, 23, 23, 24, 27, 30, 32, 47. Because 10 is an even number, the median is the mean of the two middle numbers. The two middle numbers are 23 and 24. Therefore, the median is 23.5. The mode is the number occurring most frequently in the distribution. The results are: 19, 22, 23, 23, 23, 24, 27, 30, 32, 47. Therefore, the mode is 23. Rhetorical Analysis : Us And Them Rhetorical Analysis: Us and Them David Sedaris ' claim in his essay Us and Them is inferred from its content to be that those who are privileged tend to mistreat the less fortunate. They also judge the lifestyles of others whom they may demarcate as different while ignoring their own faults and imperfections while at the same time refusing to accept other people 's cultures and ways of life into our own or deeming others inferior. The fundamental message that the author is trying to convey through this anecdote is ultimately "tolerance." The author published this collection of essays in 2004, when he was approximately at the developed age of 47 years old. The essay can be seen as a nostalgic reflection back to his past, to one of the many worthwhile, valuable, and subtle lessons taught to him by his mother. The author perhaps wrote this specific essay to act as a catalyst for the audience to realize the larger injustices that happen to people around the world like the level of severity in poverty that exists in both undeveloped countries around the world and the ignored corners of our own backyards as a result of the greed and imperialism of capitalist nations and their consumerist ideals. This includes the measurement of agreements or disagreements that relates to attitudes or objects. For example, the measurement is in two parts, the item part, and the evaluative part. It is important to understand the level of characteristics of scales such as nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio because scales differ with respect to the scaling characteristics. Nominal scales label the objects. Ordinal scales rank the order and size difference of the respondents or their responses. Interval scales represent the equal distance between the descriptor. When questionnaires are completed the numerical scales are the number and percentage of objects, such as 53 females (51.5 %) and 50 males (48.5%) (McDaniel, 2006). Ordinal Ordinal scales use labeling characteristics similar to nominal scales but in this case, it uses the numbers for the ability to order the data. This scale is a higher level of measurement and is used mostly to show the rank order of the items to be reviewed. The operations determine which is greater or lesser than another in the same list. For example, if there were a questionnaire about a person's preference of restaurants, the questionnaire would give the respondent a few choices to review. If the example has five choices, the respondent would choose one to five with the number five as most desired. Then the individual will rank the most desired restaurant by placing the number five next to the name of the restaurant he or she prefers the most. This helps the questionnaire determine which restaurant is preferred greater than others. Then the measure of central tendency is the median, and the percentile would be used for measuring dispersion (McDaniel, 2006). For our purposes let's define culture as the way in which each of us is programmed to behave in the environment. Cultures are like icebergs; some features are apparent to anyone not in a fog, while others are deeply hidden. Above–the–surface features include overt behaviors: how people dress eat walk talk relate to one another conduct themselves during public ceremonies such as weddings or funerals. Also included are such things as social distance. Other aspects are so far below the surface that they are hard to recognize. We may see evidence of these aspects, but we usually can't pinpoint them precisely and usually don't have a clue where they came from. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In France and Greece, for example, engineers tend to emphasize theoretical or mathematical approaches over experimental or numerical ones. Other countries, such as Canada and the United States, tend to favor experimental or numerical approaches. Although there is no absolute "right way" to approach technical problems, issues are likely to arise when engineers with different inclinations work together to solve them. On a practical basis, the approaches used by engineers in different countries can also depend on the types of resources available. For example, high labour costs and the availability of skilled workers make process automation and the use of heavy equipment valuable in developed countries, while using large numbers of unskilled workers may be a preferred approach in some developing. Cross–cultural Differences & Telecommunication Cross– cultural issues also arise at the organizational level; because company's indifferent countries organize their daily business differently. Some of the most noticeable differences include relative hierarchy of departments. The relative power of the various departments within a corporation is often a function of the country where the corporation has its headquarters. For example, the manufacturing departments of merman–based companies have influence over their marketing and sales counterpart's hat many Canadian and American manufacturing departments can only dream of. • 50. The Negative Effects Of Social Media With the rapid rise in technology, it brings about a new growth in the current culture. Technology, like cell phones and computers, brings on a newer form of communication that can be both private and public. Before the rise in technology most of our communication was face to face. Social platforms (like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and etc.) were not commonly used as they are today. These social platforms became more relevant because they allow many to interact with each other on an instant level. It is easy with these platforms to keep a brief conversation with short messages; for example, with Twitter each tweet is 140 characters. Often, the person behind the messages have "followers" (they, who in a sense, are subscribed to a person) that they can leave an impression onto. Some people use their platforms for positivity while some use their platform for criticism. However, most followers can choose what message they want to hear and choose how they listen to it. Social media can provide a variety of options to a variety of people. Most messages that social media tends to promote are a certain lifestyle that is considered to be a norm. With the majority of people not living in the social media "norm" this can generate negative effects on mental health. The negative effects of social media can lead to self–dissatisfaction and cause destructive tendencies. Social media tends to promote one type of body image in the media for females which is thin. A questionnaire when not done correctly may not be able to obtain the information in which the corporation may be seeking. There are in general four categories that these fall into. Categorically, these include Nominal, Ordinal, Interval and Ratio Numbers. The essential goal of this author is to explain to the utmost of authority of how these fit into questionnaires. The question is simply whether each object has more or less of this variable. When scaled, there will be no information as to how much difference between objects (Aakar, Kumar and Day, 2007). Due to lack of difference between objects, the basic arithmetic operations are limited to statistics such as the median or mode (this does not include the mean) (Aakar, Kudler and Day, 2007). One example would be to obtain the information sample of 1,000 surveyed consumers who ranked five brands of auto manufacturer preferred based on quality assumption. The questionnaire may look similar as ranked from Highest to Lowest with Second, Third, and Fourth all between (Aakar, Kudler and Day, 2007). Where the Second quality will be categorized as the 'mode', the Third category is the 'median' . There will no means of categorizing a general 'mean' because the differences in between ordinal scaled values are not necessarily the same (Aakar, Kudler and Day, 2007). Another example of this type of scale could be found in racing: dog, horse or car, that is they are found in a class standing (Aakar, Kudler and Day, 2007). Interval– The Interval scale represents the numbers used to rank objects which also represent equal increments of the attribute being measured. In more discrete terms, it simply means differences can be compared. The difference between 1 and 2 is the same as that found between 2 and 3, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Scales Of Measurement, Ordinal Scale, Interval And Ratio In this write up, the different scales of measurement, nominal scale, ordinal scale, interval and ratio are discussed, including examples of test types that would usually employ them. Also, measures of central tendency, and measures of variability and their effect on test suitability are addressed in the second half of this piece. The Four Scales of Measurement Scales of measurement defines a framework wherein numbers are assigned to objects based on a set of rules (Thorndike & Thorndike–Christ, 2009). These authors presented four different types of scales of measurement as ordinal, nominal, ratio and interval. Nominal Scale Thorndike Thorndike–Christ (2009) described a nominal scale as a measurement type wherein each "number takes on the meaning of a verbal label" (p. 27). For example, in an assessment of students on a campus, girls could be labeled number 1, and the girls, number 2. In this case, the values are mutually exclusive, and the labels have no numerical significance. Assessment that would use a nominal scale could be practically any measure that affixes labels to constructs for assessments. For example, the Interprofessional Competency Model for Healthcare Leadership is an assessment model that measures constructs developed into competency models, such as analytical thinking, community orientation, financial skills, and initiative (Calhoun, Dollett, Sinioris, Wainio, Butler, Griffith, & Warden, 2008). Simple everyday decisions are made through rationalizing a problem or opportunity, forming a hypothesis, analyzing information, and determining a decision based on the gathered information. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of the real estate data, the variables are the price, size, and the number of bedrooms in a residence. These variables have physical measurements that can be easily verified. Measurement Scale for Each Variable Accordingly, to test the hypothesis, the variables that will be analyzed will be the selling price of the house, the square–footage size of the house, and the number of bedrooms of the house. These are the intervals encompassed in Team A's hypothesis. However, Team A will also measure other variables connected to outcomes not stated in the hypothesis, such location (for instance distance and time from house to center of town) and desirable amenities. To test the above–mentioned variables Team A will need to select specific measurement scales for them. The four types of measurement scales are nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. The depth of sophistication increases as one moves from the nominal scale to the ratio scale. In other words, the ratio and the interval scales offer more detailed information on variables than do the ordinal and the nominal scales. That is to say, as one moves from the nominal scale to the ratio scale, one moves from the general to the more specific, and the more specific information a scale yields, the more powerful it is. You can investigate a historical epoch and watch as others, arriving at disparate conclusions, paint a portrait with a selection of colors chosen to fulfill their needs. A man is bound to feel that in the careless approach of others, he himself stands accused: is he not guilty of the same crime, of distorting history to his own ends, lacking merely the person with sufficient subtlety to call him to account? Joachim Fest said that the political maturity of the German people came only after the loss of their inner, spiritually romantic "interior"– the relic of feudalism that had not yet given way. This world of glorious Heroes and Grand Gestures which Wagner seeked to portray in music, and which Hitler forged a connection to largely through Wagner's operas, apparently watching Siegfried 30 or more times. In the West, it was gradually being understood that self–interest could be reliably deferred to when dealing with one's superiors– and even the concept of a superior, of someone placed above oneself in the natural order, was becoming incomprehensible. • 71. Sport Specialization In Sport Sport Specialization At a young age, children tend to start participating in sports as a way to get active and learn both athletic as well as life skills. Their parents might start them off with one sport and then before you know it the child is juggling a handful of sports to see, which ones they like. As these young athletes get older, they tend to get stuck at a crossroad. The athletes are posed with the same decision: to specialize in one sport or to continue playing all the sports they love. However, do athletes that specialize in one sport perform better as they grow up compared to those that continue playing multiple sports? It is important to resolve this question because there has been a rise in early youth sport specialization over the last few years due to pressure put on athletes by their coaches and parents, rather than a logical rationale (Myer 2015). Often, as young athletes reach middle school and high school levels, coaches and parents tend to see the potential these athletes have. As a result, the athletes are persuaded and or forced into quitting certain sports to specialize in their dominant sport with hopes of achieving more success. However, these children miss out in experiences they might have had if they didn't quit those sports. If they choose not to quit, they are usually treated differently by their coaches. • 81. Lord Of The Flies Piggy Character Analysis Piggy is one of the main characters in Lord of the Flies. He is a timid, lazy boy, mainly recognized by his asthma, glasses and fat body. I will look at the way Golding uses Piggy to explore different concepts, including civilization, isolation and social order. Piggy is probably the most civilized character in the book; even as the others begin to lose their morality, he sustains a sense of community and basic ethic. In the first chapter, he suggests using the conch to call other victims of the plane crash. This was a crucial part of the boys coming together and finding each other on the island and maintains basis for the actual plot of the book. Also, Piggy repeatedly compares the boys to children, for example, "like a pack of kids". This simile highlights the effect of irony because they are, of course, kids, but it shows that Piggy does not regard himself as a child. He believes that the other boys act immature and has decidedly set himself apart from their behaviour. As well as this, Piggy is always found holding the conch; "he caressed the conch respectfully". He relies on it to uphold a community–wide sense of civilization, and comfort himself in the way that he can revert back to the rules on holding the conch while speaking when he is being interrupted. For instance, on page 42, Piggy says, "I got the conch. You let me speak!". This is very important because it demonstrates the symbolism of the conch as an object of society, and how much he considers its moral and societal value. As well as this, Piggy is a pariah in the book. The boys dislike him a lot and hold very little respect for him – this is said quite bluntly in Chapter 5, "Piggy was an outsider". Despite his intelligence often being of use to them, they tend to disregard his contributions to the group. One example of this is when Ralph "pushed Piggy on one side" when he was trying to speak. This can be seen as both a literal and metaphorical representation of how Piggy is treated. What is meant by the quote is that Ralph physically pushed him aside, however it can be interpreted that Ralph and the boys not only shove Piggy around physically, but they also bully him verbally and overlook his advice and opinions.
