This document provides instructions for searching the online library catalog at Illinois Central College (ICC) to find and request books, e-books, and other materials. It explains how to search the ICC catalog for available on-campus items, search the I-Share catalog to request items from other libraries, and how to manage your online library account including renewing checked out items. The document also offers contact information for library staff assistance.

Searching the Online ICC Library Catalog

3. Access the library catalog through the library website Enter your search terms directly into the search box and click “find.”
4. A list of results matching your search terms will appear. Use the sort feature and the facets to manipulate your search results list
5. Look through the results list to find a title that fits your interest. From the results page you can see the call number, which campus library has the book and if it is available for check out.
6. We also have e-books and other non-book materials in the catalog. Look for the symbol on the results page. E-book symbol
7. Click on the title to see the full record for the item. To see other items by the author or with the same topic, click on that link. Note which campus has the material and the call number or have the call number texted to you.
8. Now take the call number and go to the shelf. Our collection is alphabetically then numerically arranged. If you need assistance please ask a library staff member.
9. If you did not find what you were looking for in the ICC library, you can search I-Share. I-Share is a group of 76 libraries that share books in Illinois.
10. Repeat your search in the catalog search box, but this time select “I-Share Libraries” from the drop down menu.
11. Your results page will now have items from all the I-Share libraries. The locations are different libraries throughout the state. Click on the title of the book to see the full record.
12. To have the item sent to you at ICC, click on “Request this item” or “Request 1st Available” Request 1st Available Request this item Request this item
13. You will then need to log-in Log in with your username and password If you have never logged in before, you need to create a new account
14. Creating a new account is simple, just fill in the information requested We suggest using your ICC username and password so you can easily remember your login. Your “Borrower ID” is ICC and your 7 digit student ID number found on the back of your student ID.
15. Once logged in, if you chose the “Request this Item” link, you will need to click on “choose pick up location.” If you requested the 1st available option, you will skip this step. Click Here
16. Select which campus you would like to pick up and check out the material. ICC Circ Main is for East Peoria Campus ICC Circ NC is for North Campus ICC Circ PDC is for Downtown Campus
17. You will be notified when your item is available at the ICC circulation desk.
18. With your user name and password, you can manage your library account online, including renewals. You can login with the link at the top of the results page .
19. Once logged in, you can manage your account through these options. To renew books online, select “Checked out items” and select which items to renew
