He must be:
Aware that the public have a variety of options to choose
from when it comes to legal services due to the increased
supply of lawyers and access to information – including
online public education;
The public is more educated and discerning and want value
for money;
The dynamics of the lawyer/client relationship is changing
based on the rapid democratisation of information made
possible by globalisation and technology;
Local and Global.
9. The Modern Attorney - Skills
He must be:
Client-driven and focussed;

Flexible, adaptable and knowledgeable in a variety of fields;
(as far as possible) a subject-area specialist;
Solution-oriented in a cost-effective manner even when it may not be
immediately advantageous;
Environmentally-aware (socially, politically, legally – on both the
domestic and international fronts)
