1. SECRETARY
This position maintains files; answers multi-line phones; completes overtime reports;
writes memos, takes meeting minutes; maintains copy machine and general office
equipment and supplies; provides clerical and administrative support to security
supervisors and staff; and performs other duties appropriate to the assignment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
KNOWLEDGE: Of office practices and procedures; proper spelling, grammar and
punctuation; mathematics; style and format of correspondence, reports, and memos.
SKILL: In following written and verbal instructions; setting up and typing complex
reports; collecting and organizing data; taking/transcribing meeting minutes; setting
up and maintaining filing systems; and maintaining schedules or calendar for
supervisors.
ABILITY: To type letters and memos from notes or rough drafts; research files to
gather and/or update information; learn and adhere to Arizona Department of
Corrections policies and procedures; and work in a prison environment.
Preferred candidate will have two years professional office experience; proficient at using Microsoft Word, Excel and e-
mail.
Employment is contingent on the successful applicant passing a background investigation and pre-employment drug test.

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
