stages :
Erikson's stages of psychosocial development,
is comprehensive psychoanalytic theory that
identifies a series of eight stages, in which a
healthy developing individual should pass
through from infancy to late adulthood.
3. Trust vs. Mistrust (birth – 18 months)
• In this stage children develop a sense of trust
when caregivers provide reliability care and
affection
• . A lack of this will lead to mistrust.
Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt ( 2 – 3 years)
• children need to develop a sense of personal
control over physical skills and a sense of
independence.
• Success leads to feelings of autonomy,
• failure results in feeling of shame and doubt.
4. Initiative vs. Guilt( 3 – 5 years)
• children starts to assert their power and control
over the world.
• If this stage pass successfully they develop the
ability to lead others.
• Sense of guilt develop if this stage do not pass
successful.
Industry vs.Inferiority (6- 11 years )
• Children need to cope with new social and
academic.
• Success leads to sense of competence, while
failure leads to feeling of inferiority.
5. Identity vs. Role confusion (12 – 18 years)
• Teens need to develop a sense of self and
personal identity.
• Success leads to an ability to stay to true to
your self while failure leads to role confusion.
Intimacy vs. Isolation (19 – 40 years)
• Young adults need to form intimate, loving
relationship with others.
• Success leads to strong relationship, while
failure leads toin loneliness and
isolation.
6. Geneteravity vs. Stagination (40 – 65 years)
• During adulthood we build our self on focusing
on our family and career.
• The person who passes successfully through this
phrase they developed sense of geneteravity
• Oppositely person feel that they are
unproductively.
Ego Integretivity vs. Despair (65 years – to death)
• Olders need to look back on life and feel a sense
of fulfillment.
• Success at this stage leads to feelings of wisdom.
• While failure result in regret and despair
