I chose the girl reading her Bible because in order to teach, one must first understand what one is teaching. The teacher must effectively study the Bible. Spending time reading and praying is an essential part of preparing a lesson.
I used a Bible with the special effect of “zooming” in. The teacher has to “dig in” to a theory, decide how to best teach for effective change, and apply it to her own life as well the lesson. The teacher has to be intentional in her method of planning.
I used the man building the house because lesson planning is similar- you start from the ground up and create something special. It will not work any other way. The teacher has to be methodical in her planning, considering that each student is different and learns differently.
I chose this man who looks like a great storyteller. He has his students’ attention. They are listening to his every word. He has prepared developmentally appropriate learning experiences and knows his students. With this kind of teacher, we will see results in our students.
I chose the girl hugging her Bible. If I have taught effectively, I have pointed my students in the right direction- towards Christ. I am able to assess my teaching by the change in my students. I must always remember that it’s the Holy Spirit who changes people, not me.
